Like No One is Watching: A M/M, Professional Dancer, Being Brave Again Romance (Dance, Love, Live Book 1) Kindle Edition
One dancer. One cleaner. Two very different worlds.
If Conrad isn’t good enough to be a principal dancer, at least he makes a stellar teacher, stern with the kids coming through his studio, but chatty with anyone else who stands still too long.
Dusty likes the quiet spaces between words. Since a brutal beating as a teenager, he’s content to go unnoticed, reconciled to his broken brain and a dance career lost before it ever began. Cleaning Conrad’s studio is perfect for a guy who doesn’t want to be the center of anything.
Convinced if Dusty comes out from the shadows, he’ll shine, Conrad can’t seem to leave him to his simple work—or stop talking. Because Dusty not only hears him, he also listens. It’s been a long time since anyone listened.
Far from being annoyed, Dusty is drawn to the man hidden behind Conrad’s babble. But Conrad has the life Dusty never got to have, and wanting someone from that world could shatter him all over again.

About the Author
Jaime Samms is a plaid-hearted Canadian who spends the too-long winters writing stories about love between men and the too-short summers digging in the garden. There are dust bunnies in the corners of her house-which she blames on a husky named Kai. There are dishes on the counter--which is clearly because teenagers! There is hot coffee in the pot and the occasional meal to keep her from starving--because her husband is remarkable and patient.
A multi-published author whose work has been translated into French, Italian, and German, Jaime delights in the intricate dance of words that leads her through tales of the lost and broken hearted men she writes about to the love stories that find and mend them.
And when the muse is being stubborn, she also makes pretty things with yarn and fabric scraps because in her world, no heart is too broken to love, and nothing is too worn or tired it can't be upcycled into something beautiful. All it takes is determination and the ability to see life a little bit left of center.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2023It appears at the beginning of this story that this would be about the successful dance instructor who is attracted to and helps the cleaner and there is some of that in here. But Conrad, who is moved to want to help Dusty, is as much in need in his own way as Dusty is. Both are likeable as well as very different men who have had very different lives. But they are drawn to one another it seemed by seeing each other as being able to meet the unique needs that each has. I liked that both men are strong characters in their own ways and Dusty is not a repository but has his own pride and will although he is not as privileged a place at the moment. Their love of dance connects them as well.
I received an ARC from GRR and am voluntarily leaving a review.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 11, 2024Dusty doesn’t believe anyone would care to spend time in his world- why would they? Conrad knows how it feels when people you should be able to count on cannot be bothered. They need to learn how to get past that to find their way

M/M Romance
I was given this book for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.
I really enjoyed this story. It made me want to be able to see the characters on screen - just so that I could see them dancing. The way that Samms was able to describe their grace, beauty and poise - it helped me imagine just what Samms was seeing.
Dusty had some bad luck in life. He was injured during when he should have been at peak condition to become a great dancer. He was left broken and unable to fulfill his dreams. While he likes his job and knows that he works hard, he has very low self esteem and being in a dance studio only reminds him of what he's lost.
Conrad was born in to wealth. He likes to stick his foot in his mouth and ends of apologizing a lot in this story. But, even with his being born in to privilege, Conrad must face his own demons. Despite all of his blunders, I really liked his character and how he was able to see past the injuries that Dusty had sustained to the dancer that was itching to be released.
Together, Dusty and Conrad develop friendship and a romantic relationship. While this book was categorized as BDSM, I found that to not really be true. There might have been some alpha tendencies, but I would not have categorized this story as BDSM.
Overall, this was a sweet story of overcoming both privileged and poverty - finding your own way through life and accepting where you are right in the moment.
I am really excite for book two and the snippet that Samms teased with definitely drew me in.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2023The premise of the book sounds quite engaging, but the reality of it is a bit lacking. It took more than half the book until Dusty explained (while in an argument with Conrad, so it was never truly explained) what happened to him. Conrad seems to want a bit of a D/s dynamic, but it's never actually said. The 2 characters are interesting, but I spent the majority of the book wanting just a bit more. More interaction, more explanation, more exploration. Worth a read, as you mileage may vary. But not my favorite book.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 25, 2024Dusty and Conrad are complete opposites on the surface. But, they carry a lot of similar pain. They are what each other needs.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2023This book was so good! These characters <chef’s kiss>. Dusty and Conrad come from different worlds but they have a shared love of dance. It was all stolen from Dusty though when he was 15. Now he cleans business and homes and struggles to keep his routine in place. Conrad is a hot mess who takes a lot for granted, but he quickly becomes addicted to Dusty’s presence in his life. This book was all about learning to trust yourself and to trust someone else to catch your fall. Absolutely gorgeous book. It’s all about learning to dance like no one is watching and enjoying life to its fullest.
“Everyone should get the chance to dance, Dusty. Do you see that? Everyone. Everyone should have that one chance in their life to dance like no one is watching them and nothing else matters.”
- Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2023At the heart of this story there are, I think, some really lovely truths about trust, acceptance, and meeting your partner where they are. Dance isn’t just a profession or a pastime here, it’s a metaphor for something larger, and there are moments in the dialog and the events where that message comes through in really moving ways. In terms of overall plot progression and character development around that message, however, there were a few rough edges for me: things I wished were clearer, communication I would have liked to see happen earlier and in more depth, etc. Overall, however, I liked the characters as individuals, and appreciated how they fit together and what they brought each other. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

3.0 out of 5 stars Its OK but....
Yes the book is enjoyable and its a well written story and I did like the book... nut it lacks the bite to make you want and go out to buy the next in the series. I have loads of other books on my kindle that I will go to before even thinking of buying book 2 in this series. The book as I say is good its just lacking that factor to make you want more of the same.
