    The beginning of the book caused doubts to be honest and the first time Blade and Carlo were together had an ick factor for sure. This absolutely is not a good example of mental health treatment and entirely unrealistic but with all that said the second half was much better and the ending was pretty great so stick with it.

    Going into this book I had an idea of where this story was going to go and I was actually surprised it didn’t. I love that the typical characters were there and even some from the previous series which I probably should go and read the Marchesi series as I’ve read the other ones that come off of it. I love how Blade was able to overcome his struggles with Carlo love and determination. Carlo’s growth and dedication to Blade was just as excellent. If you are like me and enjoy the series, I do believe you need to read this one to see how the story and Blade evolves.

    This is Blade and Carlos' story, book 4 of The Texas Safehouse series and each book gets better and better. I was looking forward to Blade's, and I was not disappointed.

    Blade came to the Ranch after being rescued in Afghanistan by Grant and his fellow Marines when he was captured and became a POW. Grant thought the Ranch would be a great place for him to rest and come to terms (as best he could) with what happened to him.

    Carlos is part of a Mafia-type family and has been targeted by another family for something he did or did not do. They want to stash him at the Ranch for his own wellbeing. Carlos sees things differently and escapes whenever he can. He ends up trying to break into Blade's cabin and an unlikely alliance forms.

    The action is fastpaced and there is danger around every corner. Will Blade learn to accept another person in his life, or will he retreat into his mind reliving his time as a POW? Will Carlos learn to think of someone other than himself? Can two people so different learn to love and accept and help each other?

    I found I couldn't stop reading this book, as I was hooked from the first sentence and needed to know that they could have their HEA.

    The Ranch came alive in such vivid detail it felt like you were right there with them. I am on pins and needles waiting for the next book in this exciting series.
