LOVE THY BROTHER is the fourth installment in the Rebel Kings series. I feel that it cannot be read as a stand alone because you need the other books in the series to get the full affect of this one and some things would not make sense.
I honesty didn't think this series could get better but Garrett Leigh just out did the rest with this one. Rubi and River are so broken and to see them heal each other and themselves was everything.
Rubi is Cam's best friend and has been for all of their lives. They grew up together with their dads running the club. There has always been something between River, Cam's brother and Rubi that just floated under the surface. When it all comes to a head one night between River and Rubi, River begs Rubi to not leave him and when he wakes up alone he crushed. River swore he'd never be apart of the club again. The drugs the violence wasn't something he wanted. He pushed away everyone that was in the MC including Rubi and Cam. When someone is threatening River's life and business Cam is the first to want to help even if River doesn't want it. Rubi is tasked with being his bodyguard which puts them up close and personal with each other.
I loved seeing River's walls come down and he make amends with his brother but I adored seeing Rubi and River come together. Their chemistry was explosive and so damn sweet. I cannot wait to see what's next for the club and Folk and Decoy. I never saw that one coming but I need every word!! And can we please get Nash/Locke/Orla...I need them so much!!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2023I really enjoyed this book & was impatiently anticipating its arrival.
Without wanting to spoil too much…. While this book still (obviously) has some action & drama & excitement, it’s not nearly as violent & hostile as the previous books were. I appreciated that. Lol.
Poor River & Rubi have been through so much over the years, and their love story was so well deserved. River has struggled with (it sounds like) TBI, addiction, extreme anxiety, grief, guilt…. And Rubi’s migraines are still out of control most of the time & causing him pain to the point where, between that & his ongoing issues with River, he’s not feeling like life is worth living all that much anymore.
Cam’s been struggling for years with the overwhelming amount of responsibilities on his shoulders and the guilt which always accompanies that, despite finally having such a strong, solid support system with his partners.
I love how so many things worked out in this story. (SOME SPOILERS AHEAD!!!)
I love that River realizes that his self-imposed exile is not as beneficial as he hoped, and that he realizes where he belongs, as well as him admitting that he’s got some issues that he needs help with, and that he’s willing to accept help.
I love that Mateo & Embry….have…that event.
I love that Embry found Rubi someone who’s so optimistic that he can finally provide some relief for his debilitating pain.
I love that Orla & Nash (and Locke) are figuring out what they need (but I cannot BELIEVE that their story isn’t next!!! WTF?!)
I can’t wait to read the next one. Decoy seems like such an incredible dad. He deserves to find love & happiness. I’m looking forward to getting to know him & Folk better. I hope they can kick that ex-wife of Decoy’s out of the picture entirely, too. What a nightmare she is!
I hope things remain relatively peaceful for this group & that they continue to find new ways of building stability for themselves & their community. The next book can’t come out fast enough!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2023I loved this. This is a raw gritty love. This was a journey. What a ride. I haven’t read the other books because they aren’t my jam, but that didn’t impacted this story. It was good I love the fire these characters had. This author knows how to writes great dialogue. It kept me interested and it helped move the story. I love that these characters weren’t perfect in anyway, but you still rooted for not only them, but for the family. The smexy was hawt, and I love the found family. I love how they loved each other and showed that love. Great book
- Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2023So we finally get River and Rubi's story. Was it worth the wait? Absolutely! I'd been wondering why River insisted in keeping his distance this whole time, why it felt like he had no idea how much his brother hurt from not being able to be there for him. And the story totally delivered, finally letting these two jaded people grow closer, like they had deserved the whole time. Of course this wasn't going to be a happy go lucky story with lots of pink (apart from the underwear and the pyjama bottoms) but it was so lovely to see how the two of them navigated the other's hurt and scars from the past. They make so much sense together. Sigh.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 14, 2023This author always tears my heart out and this book is no exception. River is angry with Rubi for running off after their night together. Rubi is dealing with long term head injury symptoms so he has headaches and problems with memory and dizziness, etc. There is a lot of pining and some misunderstanding between River and Rubi. But their love is almost tangible.
The story is interesting and there are bad guys to cause issues of course! It took me a little while to get into it at first, I think I just wasn't in the mood for the fighting between the 2 of them. I picked it back up again and I was lost into the story. Great series.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2023Oh man the feels in this one. It is finally Rubi and River's turn and it was epic! The angst, hurt, and human reactions in this story.
I loved every bit of River's prickly and combative personality. I love that Cam and the rest of the crew call him and Embry Chaos Goblins... because that totally fits who they are.
If you can't tell, I thoroughly enjoy this entire series. There is love, but it is right up there with the blood, sweat, and violence of the MC. It is dark and gritty and that kind of love can go toe to toe with any nightmare and come out on top.

5.0 out of 5 stars More marvelous motorcycle men
The best friends little brother being off limits is a common trope but not so much in mm motorcycle club books. Garrett Leigh does a marvelous job with this theme as applied to River and Rubi and brings a lot of characters from other books in as well. The tension between the two main characters is off the charts and the narrative is compelling. Definitely recommend you read the books in order.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Thy Rubie
I absolutely loved the book
I mean, I knew I was gonna before I even read it. Why? Because everything about this series is beautiful and lovely: the stories, the writing, the way they talk, the men, the way they love….
It’s just ♥️♥️♥️ and right up my alley.

5.0 out of 5 stars My sweet baby Rubi and his sunshine River 😭
I ADORE Rubi. Besides Saint, he's my absolute favourite. His vernacular and general demeanor always makes me laugh so much. He is such all gentleness and softness packed into a big biker body.
And he's such a good contrast to River, who's all hard edges and full of sarcastic that's really just hiding this pain and addiction and hurt he's going through.
I really connected to them both. I loved River's growth a lot. His hatred for the MC has been so secret from the start but finally getting to understand his side and why he's been staying away broke my heart.
Him and Rubi have loved each other since they were little and I loved getting the glimpse into the RK history.
I also just loved how clear it become how integral and important Rubi is so the MC. The hug between him and Saint had me absolutely bawling. He is such a goof and the MC isn't the same without him.
River finally returning home and riding with the RKs again, and the absolute and 100% honesty between these two, the intensity and this love that's been growing and growing for years. These two have my heart.

4.0 out of 5 stars love Thy Brother
I wanted to love this. Rubi is such a big teddy bear and I really like his character. I’m happy he got his hard fought HEA. But I really struggled to connect with River. To me he came across as a self absorbed brat. I liked the rest of the story, the character development for the brothers, blood and MC.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loving this series.
This is the forth book in the Rebel Kings motorcycle club, this was about Rubi and River's story i am drawn to these men and this series, they are huge tattoo guys who have done stuff in the past but want to redeem themselves and have so much love to give who will do anything for each other.
Rubi is the big soft guy who has loved River for a long time but seems to get it wrong when it comes to letting his feelings show, River has left the club as he wants nothing to do with how it is run but loves Rubi but can't tell him as he thinks it is one sided. These two guys will pull at your heart strings until they get there act together and when they do there chemistry is off the charts HOT!!! 4.5 Rebel stars.
