Show Me Wonders: An M/M Second Chance Standalone (Water, Air, Earth, Fire Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 1,017 ratings

Wait for me. Never let me go.

I fell in love with Jackson Moreno in hell, the only two survivors trapped in a catastrophic tunnel collapse. But when rescue comes, I discover he has secrets darker than I could have guessed. He disappears from my life as quickly as he came, and I can’t afford to chase after him when I have to raise my daughter alone.

I fell in love with Jackson Moreno six years later, on a bright summer afternoon, cleaning the lobby of a small-town bank. But he’s still running, and I’m struggling to keep my little family afloat.

I fell in love with Jackson Moreno in three feet of snow, surrounded by garbage and filth, after we lost everything. Because sometimes a tatted bad boy and a shy dad who loves knitting are destined to be together, no matter how many years and miles and memories pull us apart. No matter how many times we have to start over.

If we refuse to be broken, I believe someday we’ll find each other for the last time.

An epic, moving story of second chances and love that defies all odds, featuring a double gay for you relationship full of first times, hurt/comfort, a demisexual main character, and mental health representation!

This book contains some mature content related to mental illness and violence. For a full list, see the author's note in the front of the book using the "look inside" feature.

My favorite!
Ughh... Deciding which quotes I'll add on this review was the hardest. I love these guys!! Ollie and Jax are my favorite of this series, why you ask? It's really simple: they are soulmates. They find in each other what they never knew they needed. ..."ɪɴ ʟᴇꜱꜱ ᴛʜᴀɴ ᴛʜᴇ ꜱᴘᴀᴄᴇ ᴏꜰ ᴍʏ ʟᴀꜱᴛ ʙʀᴇᴀᴛʜ, ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴛʜᴇ ᴍᴏꜱᴛ ᴘᴏɪɴᴛʟᴇꜱꜱ ꜰɪɴᴀʟ ᴛʜᴏᴜɢʜᴛ ɪɴ ʜɪꜱᴛᴏʀʏ, ɪ’ᴍ ɢᴏɴᴇ. ᴀɴᴅ ᴛʜᴀᴛ’ꜱ ʜᴏᴡ ɪ ꜰᴇʟʟ ɪɴ ʟᴏᴠᴇ. ʜᴏᴡ ɪ ʟᴏꜱᴛ ɪᴛ ᴀɢᴀɪɴ. ʜᴏᴡ ᴍʏ ʜᴇᴀʀᴛ ɴᴇᴠᴇʀ ꜱᴛᴏᴘᴘᴇᴅ ꜱᴇᴀʀᴄʜɪɴɢ. ʙᴜᴛ ɪ’ᴍ ɢᴇᴛᴛɪɴɢ ᴇᴠᴇʀʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ʙᴀᴄᴋᴡᴀʀᴅ. ɪᴛ’ꜱ ᴀ ʟᴏɴɢ ꜱᴛᴏʀʏ."... Another thing that I love on this story is that they are real, nothing gets resolve conveniently. Jax has to fight his way out, Ollie has to face his life to change it for better. ...“ᴡʜɪᴄʜ ɪꜱ ɢᴏᴏᴅ. ᴏɴᴇ ɢᴏᴏᴅ ᴛʜɪɴɢ.” ɪᴛ’ꜱ ᴀ ɢᴀᴍᴇ ɪ ᴘʟᴀʏ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴍᴇɢᴀɴ: ᴡʜᴇɴ ʏᴏᴜ’ʀᴇ ᴜᴘꜱᴇᴛ, ᴛʜɪɴᴋ ᴏꜰ ᴏɴᴇ ɢᴏᴏᴅ ᴛʜɪɴɢ. ɪ ᴘʟᴀʏ ɪᴛ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴍʏꜱᴇʟꜰ ꜱᴏᴍᴇᴛɪᴍᴇꜱ, ᴡʜᴇɴ ᴛʜᴇ ʀᴇᴀʟɪᴛʏ ᴏꜰ ᴛʜᴇ ʟɪꜰᴇ ɪ’ᴍ ᴛʀᴀᴘᴘᴇᴅ ɪɴ ꜱᴛᴀʀᴛꜱ ᴛᴏ ᴄʀᴜꜱʜ ᴍᴇ. ᴍʏ ᴏɴᴇ ɢᴏᴏᴅ ᴛʜɪɴɢ ɪꜱ ᴀʟᴡᴀʏꜱ ʜᴇʀ. ᴇᴠᴇɴ ʜᴇʀᴇ, ᴇᴠᴇɴ ɴᴏᴡ."... Megan, Ollie's daughter, is a lovely bonus (snakes and all) Life gets in the way, and their love would be tested. But the hea is warranted and it's one of the most satisfying ones I've read. ..."ɪ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ʜɪᴍ ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴀ ᴘᴇʀꜱᴏɴ ᴡᴀɴᴛꜱ ᴛʜᴇ ɴᴀᴍᴇʟᴇꜱꜱ ꜰᴇᴇʟɪɴɢ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ʟɪɴɢᴇʀꜱ ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇ ᴍᴇᴍᴏʀʏ ᴏꜰ ᴛʜᴇɪʀ ᴅʀᴇᴀᴍꜱ, ꜱᴏᴍᴇᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴛᴀᴋᴇɴ ꜰʀᴏᴍ ᴛʜᴇᴍ ᴛᴏᴏ ʟᴏɴɢ ᴀɢᴏ ᴛᴏ ʀᴇᴍᴇᴍʙᴇʀ. ᴀɴᴅ ɪ ʜᴀᴠᴇ ɴᴏ ɪᴅᴇᴀ ᴡʜᴀᴛ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ᴍᴇᴀɴꜱ."...

I'm not sure where to start. This book was pretty unique in my opinion. I have many thoughts but I am having trouble organizing them. LOL. I guess I will start where I always start - the characters.

Our two main characters are Jackson and Oliver; two very different people. Jackson obviously came from a very rough background. He's big and brawny, tatted, and rough around the edges. We learn bits and pieces of his life throughout the book but I wish there had been just a bit more. Some things just needed a little clarification but perhaps it was intentionally vague. No biggie, though. My mental image of Oliver is way different and I had trouble pairing these two men at first. I envisioned Oliver to be a scrawny, more effeminate man who is afraid of his own shadow and doubles as a doormat. Also, I think either the author is a ginger or has a thing for gingers but I'm just guessing and it's not important. Oh, hello ADHD. Thanks for joining us. LOL.

Part I - These two get trapped together and are forced to learn to trust each other because they have no other choice. In the short amount of time they are together they develop a romantic relationship. I think it's more out of desperation than anything. They believe they may die and they seek comfort. I don't want to give too much away so...Things happen and then Part II begins.

I had some trouble with Part II at first. It began a bit too contrived. The way they meet and recognize each other required me to suspend disbelief. The story started to drag for me at this point but it was short lived and in no way made me dislike the story. They finally recognize each other and the story takes off. Part II is probably the most important part of the book; so much happens. There was good, bad, and ugly. We also get to check in with Gray and Jonah, from the second book in this series titled Make Me Fall. They are doing well. We meet Tristan who is a very good friend to Oliver and Oliver's daughter, Megan, who we first hear about in Part I. I'm not giving away the whole plot but Oliver and Jackson are both very stubborn and neither of them want to ask for help which causes so many problems. They drove me nuts but I loved them both dearly. Megan is awesome and a wonderful addition to the story. I wouldn't mind hearing her story at some point. Eventually, things go sideways for our MCs yet again and, after a emotionally charged moment that made me cry, we are off to Part III.

Part III is the HEA and it's touching and beautiful. Finally, after all the years of letting fate be their guide, things work out. They get their new beginning and everyone is happy. You have to read it for the beauty because I can't give you that.

Riley Nash is very talented at angst and highly emotional story telling. They can string ordinary words together into something beautiful. That's what good authors do. I may not like everything about the book but I don't have to because it's not my story. I would love to see this author add some more fun to balance out the angst but that's certainly not a deal breaker. While I can't give this a five star rating, I can easily recommend this book to MM genre fans and give this book four and a half very shiny stars. I look forward to the next book in the series.

I'll start by saying, this was beautiful...and also incredibly painful. I'd give it a solid 4.5/5 stars! Like usual, the writing was so good. And I adored all of the characters. Megan and Jax together just warmed my heart. I do wish the trauma bond would have been written a little better/more thoroughly, it seemed abrupt when they started messing around. But I just ignored that part. Otherwise, you could definitely feel Ollie and Jax's love for each other. They had to work so, so hard to have their HEA. But when they finally got it, it was amazing. I can't wait to read the next book!!

This book is definitely lighter spice, but it was still good!

The beginning of the story was good but as soon as they started having a conversation it felt off but I attributed that to the circumstances they were facing and I let the awkward sex slide because you never know how one would react when faced with a life threatening situation

Post train wreck I actually thought things would improve but the story was just not touching me, the writing style is so good that I convinced myself I’d like the story eventually but at 56% I almost stopped because I still hadn’t felt anything with both the MCs at about 60% I was just skipping through the pages I would be lying if I said I was paying attention, there was just something missing. I perked up at the mention of Gray and Jonah (my favourite couple by the way 😁) and after them I still haven’t bonded with Jackson and Oliver

While reading book 2 I actually thought they’d be an interesting couple to read about but I’m afraid this was not for me 😕

This was a lovely, angsty story and I enjoyed it, apart from one thing… I just don’t understand how Jackson and Oliver didn’t realize who the other was as “Jax” and “Ollie” within the first couple of days. That part was just not believable for me. Apart from that, though, it was a beautiful book! I am loving this series!

A very hard won HEA is exactly what they get.
It makes all the turmoil worth it because they wouldn't be them without them.

So, I read a lot of books. I take the time to thank the author by rating all the books that I read. But, I don’t always leave a written review. I knew early into this book that I would be leaving a review.

I couldn’t stop thinking about Jackson and Oliver when I had to put the book down. Their love and connection felt so real to me. So it was so heartbreaking when it felt as if fate was against them. I have not cried so much in the book just based on the emotional turmoil between two characters.

Bottom line, this book has everything: great writing, well thought out characters, and an amazing story. I’m so happy I read this book and I think you will be too.

Riley Nash’s bio says that they write about “broken boys who find each other.” I’ve never read any other book that so perfectly fits that description. The story is a really tough one to get through, and even if you suspect there’ll be a happy ending, you still have to emotionally slog through the deepest well of troubles I’ve ever read. The story is so very worthy of your time.
I’m delighted this book was available on KU.

I adore Riley's writing skills I am here to be deeply emotionally invested in the characters journeys and did she deliver hell yes she did. I have a heart made of stone but I felt their struggles and fears all the way to the core.

Oliver is an absolutely adorable character who loves with his whole heart but because of that he is used, manipulated and broken. Regardless of what he's endured to get to the beginning of this book he has still managed to hold onto his ability to love completely and has kept his almost child like wonder with the world. No matter how dark things get he is able to find hope whether he believes it or not and that is why he never gives up.

Jackson stile my heart he has an absolutely heart breaking backstop which we are drip fed throughout the book and with every revelation, every painful moment I just wanted to pick up a sold and shield and protect him. He has struggled to find his place in the world and doubts his worth continually.

Through a shared traumatic event Oliver and Jackson form a deep connection, if this was a pnr book you'd probably call it a soul bond, they might never have seen each other but what they created whilst trapped in that tunnel is stronger then either of them knew. Their journey is long and filled with countless challenges but their love is woven into Fates plan and it keep throwing them back together. They are a right person wrong place kind of love revisted time and time again and it's crushing to both parties. That is until Ollie takes matters into his own hands and does everything he can to give both of the the family they deserve.

“Our skin remembers every piece of each other, even the things our hearts forgot.” - Jax

I enjoy books with a reason for being, not purely pushed out to fill a market or slot—a moral at the end, if you will. Thought provoking reads, which leave me questioning what I’ve just read.

Some things are worth waiting for, may be cliched, but it’s what I’ve taken away from this book. Nash’s artistry, their way with words, showing us each character’s truth, is beautiful. The balance between honest storytelling and believable characters, draws me back again and again.

“I was waiting there for you this whole time.”

Jax and Ollie fit together. Both remained emotionally trapped by the tunnel collapse, six years later. Both bore scars from their pasts, and discovered who they truly were with each other.

I wanted more build up before the awakening in the tunnel scenario, the darkness, and forced proximity. I could easily have sat there with them a little longer while they discovered each other. It was the only rushed part for me.
