When my grad school application to join the Raintree Arctic Expedition gets unexpectedly denied, I know exactly who to blame. Professor River Henry has always had it out for me. For some reason, he holds me to a higher standard than everyone else in the evolutionary biology department which means he probably failed to recommend me for the research expedition and he’s most likely going to give my final exam a big, fat F.

All I want to do is drown my sorrows in some platonic cuddles and pretend I haven’t hit rock bottom before my scientific career has even had a chance to get off the ground.

But when Professor Henry is the one standing on the other side of the hotel room door in response to my add for comfort, I suddenly realize with breath-stealing horror, just how far I have left to fall.

    I’ll start this off by say that this author is a favorite of mine and I buy EVERYTHING she writes. I don’t see that changing. This book, however, just didn’t do it for me. It felt like it was rushed, which is a shame because it held so much potential. If the book had been fleshed out more, starting at around the point where River is dealing with the fallout of what he had to do & Jack dealing with getting the cold shoulder from River before shifting into the meet-up, I think their story would have a bigger impact. The warp speed from the knock on the door to their epilogue left me unfulfilled. There was an amazing story to be told between them and the rocky road to their HEA.

    So Jack is grad student who's having bad day hos cousin puts him on Heart2Heart app for a platonic hug. Things get turned around when who but the man/professor Henry/River that caused his need for a hug shows up. Which I saw that coming but all the better.

    It was short, but packed so much into this. I loved every second of it. River and Jack are perfect and I was happy that definitely wasn't a one night. Lucy did an excellent job with this Wilde family novella.

    Confession time first - I've read both the Marians and the Wildes and I don't remember Jack but who cares, wow what a book. Jack and River are wonderful characters and I swear I swooned at the ending. I can feel another Marian/Wilde re-read coming on!! Loved it, loved it, loved it.

    Good enough story but not worth buying. This should have been free on kindle unlimited only way to make it worth spending any money. Don’t get caught out and think this is a story. In one page they meet family, then it jumps to two years later where they are married and going on their own polar expedition. What a rip off
