Ineligible Receiver: A Friends-to-Lovers MM Sports Romance (The Package Deal Series - Book 5) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 693 ratings

A sexy and emotional story about two best friends that secretly fall in love, but struggle to keep a heartbreaking secret from tearing them apart.

When I met Greg Foster, the straight tight end for the Portland Pirates, the rookie needed a friend to bring him out of his shell. There was more to the shy twenty-two-year-old bookworm than met the eye, and I was the perfect person for the task. My roommate and best friend, Christian, was involved with the Pirates QB, so a new friend to hang out with was good.

I pushed down my attraction to him and became the best friend he ever had. We bar-hopped all over Portland and played video games in our apartments. We even loved the same indy band from Seattle.

Then we fucked up when we fell in love. And by fucked up, I mean we got married even though we knew our marriage had to remain a secret.

No one knew about us. Not even our closest friends. And every time they asked, we gave them the same line... we're just friends.

And ultimately, the reason for that secret would tear us apart. Now, here I was three years after meeting him, and wasn’t sure how to survive without him. He was the love of my life, and I was his.

Ineligible Receiver is a friends-to-lovers and bi-awakening story and Book 5 in The Package Deal Series.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"What I love is the intricate timeline that weaves through the first four books and gets reinforced in this one - the meet ups, parties and events that we now see from a different perspective is so much fun... and the romance is beautiful from start to finish."-- MM Romance Reviewed Dot Com

"I'm not sure any couple has been teased as much as these two. Book after book, anytime Coop and Greg showed up, you could hear readers scream for their story. And it didn't disappoint."
Not Guilty of Books Bookstagrammer

"Ineligible Receiver is an emotional rollercoaster ride of a love story that you need to buckle yourself in for and take the ride along with them." -
Canadian Girl Book Blog

"I was afraid the build-up across the last five books might not live up to my expectations, but thankfully I was so wrong. This book blew all expections right out the window. Shattered the whole window might be a more accurate description."
-My Spicy Queer Bookshelves Bookstagrammer

"This book was everything I wanted but so much more."
Smore.Books09 Bookstaggrammer

"Absolutely worth the wait!"

I messed up and read the EHM protectors series first, so it was really nice to go back and see this from Cooper's POV. Both of these series have been amazing (even if you don't like sports) and I would definitely read again.

Love all these characters. Out of all the books so far, this story was the hardest to get
The first 18 chapters are flash back from the first 4 books. Once we get to the present day, the story of Greg and Cooper picks up. However, this is a highly emotional story.

The bond between all these men is strong and shines through. When they finally get their hea, it freeing.

I highly recommend this whole series.

There was a different vibe to it unlike the other books in the series that just made it more enjoyable even though the authors didn’t stray too far from their og tropes.

You really feel for Cooper and Greg throughout this book and especially Cooper for me.

However, Greg’s excuse just wasn’t good enough imo. I understand firsthand what the fear of homophobes and conversion therapy can instill in you but Greg has ample resources at his disposal to end the conflict. The angst definitely didn’t have to go on that long. If Aidan could work with everyone else to help them w/ their custody issues, then he definitely could have helped Greg remove Brock from their parent’s house 2 years earlier.
It also didn’t explain why he couldn’t at the very least tell the group when it was clear as day that they were involved.

The picking of the best men was really cute and untraditional. Looking forward to the last one.

Getting this story from beginning to end was amazing. Wonderful character development for these two and even the friends we’ve already met in other books. Greg was closeted because of his family, with no plans to come out anytime soon so he could protect his brother. It eventually wears thin on Coop and they almost don’t make it. The end of this story with their best men sums up everything, great story!

This book probably broke my heart, the most out of this entire series… Cooper and Greg weathered and amazing storm, and came out together on the other side. It honestly was heartbreaking to read. I cried over them - legit full on cried when Cooper decided he’d had enough.

The first 50% of the book is a time travel backwards to when they first met all the way up until the prologue/present day. And then it’s from that point forward and how they prove that love can conquer all.

Once we got back to the present the steam got up to where I expected it be and it was worth the wait.

This story ended so beautifully. It honestly feels like a series Ender with the way that everyone is moving forward and settle down and all loose ends are tied up. But then we got one more sneak peek for Dom and Jessie! I cannot wait to see what those two get up to.

    Go Pirates ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I struggled to finish the last few chapters otherwise it was a decent read I don’t mind the closet trope but 2 years is excessive especially when he was binding from his close friends who were also LGBTQ that part just didn’t makes sense no matter how you try to explain it.

What a journey these guys took! Look, this book will take you on a roller coaster of a ride with the love these two share. If I could, it would be more than five stars. Love these guys!

Finally we get Cooper and Greg’s full story! They were always side characters who needed their own HEA. Hope we see more of the Foster family.

This book ripped out my heart, put it back, and then ripped it out again before putting it back.
These two together are amazing. They went through a lot to get to their happily ever after.
I love them and their extended family.

Cooper had already stolen my heart in previous books and to finally get his and Greg’s story was wonderful. These men had me on a roller coaster of emotion from the first page to the terrific ending. Their story had everything I look for in a book, heartbreaking and heartwarming emotion, some angst and heat, and I can’t recommend this book highly enough.

I loved this book so much, I absolutely adored the attention to detail that writers had with this book. I am looking forwards to the next book but sad that it will be the last. If we could get a short story/ novella on Patrick would be chef’s kiss!

I have read reviews and think I must look for different things in a book. As there is no way you could not disclose your relationship for two years for that stupid reason omg it was so weak. There was no reason what so ever Greg couldn’t tell Cooper either, that was the worst. Some of the in between was okay. But the reason was soooooooo poor.
