Cherry Picked (Sunday Brothers Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 2,532 ratings

Never ask your brother’s best friend to… pick your cherry.

When I asked Jack Wyatt to help me lose my pesky v-card, I didn’t expect him to keel over in shocked disapproval and nearly tumble us down a mountain.

You might think a guy who's been reading romance novels his whole life would've figured out a smoother way to broach the subject, but in my defense, I’ve been pining for Jack for seven long years, just waiting for him to notice me.

Jack sees me as sweet, shy Hawk Sunday: his Pride and Prejudice-obsessed hiking buddy; his dependable employee; the honorary little brother he’s determined to protect, not…deflower.

But to me, Jack is everything a romantic hero should be: tall, gorgeous, kind, and brilliant.

Or at least I thought he was brilliant… until he started getting so many things so boneheadedly wrong.

Like refusing to do the deflowering himself, but also, erm... blocking any other potential plant-lovers from getting all up in my garden.

And like continuing to see me as someone who needs protecting, rather than a man who needs possessing

A man who's determined to get his cherry well and truly picked this summer, whether Jack Wyatt likes it or not.

Best small-town romance series
The Sunday Brothers series is THE small-town romance for me! Cherry Picked is another wonderfully chaotic, heartwarmingly romantic, and toothachingly sweet and funny addition to the series. The book tells the youngest Sunday Brother, Hawk's story, with our favourite Pannini Jack, who's been a silent but constant addition in the previous books. Their love story is a slow burn, friends-to-lovers, long-term mutual pining, borther's-best-friend romance with some added heat in places, and so many Pride and Prejudice references that the regency era feels close. The plot was heavy in this one with Hawk's fight to save Glassy Peak from being turned into a fancy resort. There's also lots of pining and not knowing after an out-of-the-blue request for friendly cherry popping! The humour in this book was just as great and cheesy as in the rest of the series, and I ate it up! The characters are wonderful and loveable! Hawk's obsession and passion for Pride and Prejudice and various remixes of Elizabeth and Darcy's story are adorable. He runs his mouth a mile a minute, and he is the most caring and kind person ever. Jack is a marshmallow, too. He might be a bit older and utterly oblivious to his own feelings for Hawk, but he is nice and strong and protective. The way he treats Hawk as a precious thing and cares for his interests from day one of their friendship proves the kind heart he has. "Romance novels had not prepared me for a situation where one-half of the fated mates decides the other isn’t a suitable match. This seemed a regrettable oversight." They are perfect for each other, though on Jack's part, it takes some friendly nudging and goading from different small-town professional meddlers! Because Little Pippin Hollow is the embodiment of meddling. I love it! Secret scheming, gossip everywhere, bonding over an environmental issue, everything is there to provide you an additional level of good time. The Sundays are just as perfectly loving and funny and chaotic as before. The little family moments either left you smiling fondly, laughing loudly, or shedding a few tears lovingly. But the most precious part? The deep and unconditional love that brews between our heroes. One thing is sure, when it comes to sweet and heartwarming happy endings, it is not easy to beat May Archer. At the end of the book, I always feel wholesome, and this particular HEA was so over the top and perfect for Hawk and Jack that I couldn't help smiling all the way to the end. "You know, in books they make it seem like happily ever after is a single moment frozen in time. They never tell you what happens after the story ends. In real life, people grow. Dreams change. So maybe every day you get to write a new happily ever after. I just know I want all of them to be with you.” Can't wait to see what's next!

In Cherry Picked, we get the long-awaited story of Hawk Sunday and his boss/brother's best friend, Jack. Hawk is a true romantic with a long-standing obsession with all things Pride and Prejudice. And from the second he sets eyes on Jack Wyatt, he's decided that he's found his Darcy and won't settle for any less.

After seven long years of pining, he finally makes a move, only for his dreams to come tumbling down when Jack turns him down. But just when he starts to set his sights elsewhere, Jack starts popping up all over the place, stopping anyone else from being with him either, cause from the moment Hawk propositioned him, Jack starts to realize that he's been falling for Hawk all along.

This book made me laugh more than any other book has in a while! Hawk and Jack's antics were hilarious and like always, every member of the town only added more levity to the whole story. It's so clear that these two are head over heels for each other but watching them stumble their way to a HEA is a journey I'd take over and over again because it kept me thoroughly entertained.

This book has tons of Pride and Prejudice references, steamy scenes on the side of a mountain, plenty of well-meaning busybodies who just want to help and a grand gesture of love that would make any reader fall in love with Jack Wyatt. If you're ever in the mood for a book that makes you laugh as much as it makes you swoon, check out the Sunday Brothers series. While each book can be read as a standalone, I'd recommend reading it in order for maximum enjoyment!

What a wonderful romantic story! Brother’s best friend and the big brother is soooo blind to their chemistry. Thankfully, little brother is smart and independent and going to draw the man in on his own. ;) This story is sweet and has the humor and charm of Little Pippin Hollow which makes it perfectly wonderful. Throw in some outside forces of big corporate world trying to invade the Hollow, and Hawk will defend his home. And, Jack will see the passion of Hawk come alive. <3

This was such a delightful read! Hawk is just the sweetest book loving, Pride and Prejudice fanboy ever. I love him and I would love to swap book recs with him. And Jack! He was a little oblivious but the second he realized he had feelings, boy did he go all in. And I loved that for him and Hawk.

This book was just so much fun! And it has the same Gilmore Girls vibes that the rest of the books do. I loved getting to see more of the town and how they rallied behind Hawk to save their beloved Fogg Peak from the evil clutches of developers. It was so funny to see bits of what the knitting guild was up to (imagine 70+ year-olds popping tires on the land developer’s vehicles with very sharp knitting needles 😂).

All around, this was just such a good read. It’s got all the summery vibes you could ever ask for. Cherry Picked is getting 5 stars from me! I can’t wait to see what’s next for Sunday’s. 😊

As a Janeite and a huge fan of friends-to-lovers, I freaking swooned over this book. Hawk doesn’t need to find his Mr. Darcy - he’s already identified the other male lead in his story - oblivious Jack just needs to get on the same page.

Though there was some epic pining, there was also a lot of action from Hawk. He took his future in his own hands, asked for what he wanted, stood up for what he believed in, and always spoke his mind. Elizabeth Bennet would be proud. And Darcy would see himself if he looked at Jack. A clueless man thoroughly obsessed with his “friend.”

Friends to lovers is just so good and I always love when the MCs realize they’ve basically been in a relationship for years without the benefits of canoodling. So adorable!
I love the town and all its quirky inhabitants. I love that we got to see some brotherly love and communication (finally!). I love the Sunday fam!

This was a cute story with some sweet moments. I have enjoyed this series immensely and hope there are more books coming!

This specific book was kind of meh for me because it was so slow in the beginning. I got fairly bored with it and skimmed a few portions. It really lagged for too long and didn't have the same kind of humor that I enjoyed so much in the first two books. Although this wasn't my favorite, it was still very sweet! I also loved Jack's surprise for Hawk in the epilogue. That is my literal dream!

    MM Love Interests
    Dual POV
    Small-town Romance
    Pining
    Brother's Best Friend
    Very Low Key Forbidden
    Book Lover MMC
    Low Angst

Hawk is a fantastic character. He might be "innocent", but he knows what he is looking for and he doesn't want to settle. He is tired of being seen as a young boy that doesn't know any better and wants to be treated as an equal and as someone that has some sense. Jack needs to wake up to what is in front of him and what he could be losing. He is happy with his status in life and doesn't see a reason to change until change is forced upon him.

I enjoyed this book and how everything plays out. I love how Jack was including Hawk in all his plans for his house without realizing what he was really doing. Hawk steps up and stands up for himself and for what he believes in. He helps show that compliancy isn't the correct way to go and that you need to have your voice heard before it is too late.

May Archer once again delights in this wonderful book chock-full of pining, misguided good intentions, and a slow burn that's perfectly paced. Jack was so adorably oblivious, and hawk so determined to get what he wanted, that when it all came together I may have cheered out loud. Just a little. The Pride and Prejudice references were a masterstroke in an already brilliant read, and just another reason why may will always be one of my favourites.

Hawk and Jack were fabulous together! I loved their banter, their chemistry, and how their relationship evolved into something Hawk had always wanted, and Jack didn't realise how much he needed it.The story started off quite light-heartedly, but later developed into a serious attempt to save the Hollow from developers. This is when Hawk grows up, and comes into his own.

The story gave me ALL the feels!! I felt everything Hawk was going through. Jack did mess up at times, but as the strength of feelings for Hawk dawned on him, he certainly made up for it. It's slow burn, but this suited the pace of the story. I do enjoy the friends to lovers trope, and May Archer has killed it here.

I swear that these books have got better and better as the series has progressed, you get to know and love all the characters from each story, so you root for them and feel all the emotions with them when they pop up in the next tale.
Jack and Hawk just 'aawed' me, I loved them together. Their relationship wasn't all plain sailing but it was worth it in the end. The epilogue's fantastic, and made me sigh.

All 3 books so far, can be read as stand-alones, but I'd recommend reading them in order, you certainly won't regret it if you do. Can't wait for the next story in the series

Hawk and Jack are adorable! The connection to Jane Austen, specifically Pride and Prejudice, is fun, and also highlights the issues and advantages of that. While Hawk sees the potential of the romance, the twists and turns it can take, the reality is can be, Jack only sees the perfection of it and how Hawk wants romance and drama. In truth the two create plenty of drama themselves and the romance of the century all in what you want.

There are some of the usual tropes (only one bed, brother's friend) it also manages to twist those in just delightful ways! Jack and Hawk are so aware of those tropes and what they mean, but also stuck in them in their own ways. They have to figure out what they want for themselves but also what an intertwined life truly means thinking beyond the now and into the future.
