Trusting Quin (Tales Reimagined Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 462 ratings

Red

I knew from the moment I met him, one night would never be enough. He was the Daddy of my dreams—equal parts sweet and stern, 100% hot as hell. The intensity when we came together was like nothing I’d ever felt before. It was never meant to be more than one night, and he’d always be the one that got away.

Quin

Weeks after the business trip where I spent an amazing night with a gorgeous boy, I receive a phone call in the middle of the night. My sweet boy is in trouble and needs my help. He comes to me trembling and tearful, and I’ll do anything in my power to help him. And I mean anything. Whoever hurt my boy will wish they'd never been born.

Inspired by Little Red Riding Hood, Trusting Quin is the second installment in the Tales Reimagined series but can be read as a standalone. Contains Daddy/boy dynamics, sex work, references to sex trafficking, graphic violence, on page murder, off page murder, murder boyfriends, spanking, inappropriate humor, high heat, and of course, a sweet HEA.

Red is a down on your luck guy who sometimes takes escort jobs to help pay his bills. He meets Quin and can tell immediately he is a great guy. They feel a connection but it's just one night so Quin gives his business card to Red with a "call me if you ever need me". Well that one night comes and Quin rescues Red from almost being trafficked and the story takes off from there. Red and Quin beat the bad guys and get their HEA and Red gets a found family for life. Read the trigger warnings before reading. I highly recommend this book.

This book was recommended to me when I was asking for recommendations for books with s3x during a work call.

Red has a wonderful encounter with Quin. Although meant to be one time, Quin gives Red his number just in case he needs anything. Red has a dangerous, life changing encounter and needs to disappear for a while. He calls Quin for help and Quin is all too happy to help.

Quin uses his skills to track down the men who hurt his Red.

I’d have given a higher rating but, there were several editing errors which threw me out of the story.

    -on page violence
    -Daddy/boy dynamic
    -spanking
    -human trafficking

    *****

I adored the first book it’s was amazing. This book was a good follow up with an interesting plot idea. I love how unique McKenzie books are and her diverse characters.
My only complaint about this book was their dom/sub relationship. Now I love a good dom/sub situation but other than the names and aftercare their scenes didn’t give me dom/sub dynamics very much. That being said I still loved their scenes and the story overall I just hated that it was labeled as that type of relationship and didn’t give that very much. I didn’t expect extreme bdsm but I expected more than mostly vanilla sex.

Overall Id recommend this book but I do think you should read it in order. I’m looking forward to the next book.

Love the diversity! Let’s give a shout out to that! Thank you thank you. I loved this story, I loved them together loved. Loved their D/b dynamic. I do wish there was just a little more angst. Besides internal struggle there was no angst at all. The writing was great, the smexy was yum, and I love the family.

I got into this one a lot quicker than book one. I enjoyed the dynamics of Red and Quin's relationship and what Quin was willing to do for his boy. I'm looking forward to Michael's story now.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

Red is a part-time rent boy, choosing his clients based on the kindness in their eyes. After losing his job and needing money, Red accepts a job with Malcom (Quin), and there is an instant Daddy/boy connection between the two. Both parties feel it, but they live in different provinces, so anything more won’t work. Neither forgets about the other, however.
When Red accepts another job weeks later, he is very uncomfortable without knowing why, except his client’s eyes are cold and cruel. He overhears some talk from his client, realizes he is a sex-trafficker, and flees to the airport, bent on getting far away. On a whim, he thinks of Malcom and decides to go to Quebec, knowing he could keep him safe.
Malcom/Quin and Red still have that connection and the relationship grows, Red feeling safe again, until news of the traffickers surfaces once more. Vowing to protect Red, Quin does just that.
As I read, I was reminded of a previous book I had read when the backstory of some supporting characters sounded familiar. The book was Taming Savage, actually the first one in this series, so even though Trusting Quin can be read as a standalone, the story is so much richer with the additional background.
I felt the main characters were well developed and fit each other well, the Daddy/boy dynamic was a good fit, there was enough action and story development to keep me interested, and a satisfying end for the traffickers, Red and Quin. I will definitely be watching for Michael’s story next, partly to find out who his forever person will be, and to have more of the characters carried over in the books.

I absolutely loved this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. The heat and chemistry between Red and Quin was scorching and I loved their first scene together. Both left a strong impression on the other, but Quin lived a plane ride away and wouldn't be there for longer than that night. When Red is nearly abducted by human traffickers, he catches the first plane out of there that he can- a plane that'll take him to Quin. He calls him desperate for help, and Quin drops everything to go to Red's aid and protect him. This story was a fast-paced exciting read. I was completely hooked and couldn't put it down. I loved both Red and Quin and seeing their developing relationship was such a pleasure, in spite of the circumstances that brought them back together. I read one other book by this author a few months ago and loved it so much, and this one I loved just as much. I can't wait to get my hands on more of RS McKenzie's books! 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quin gets his boy!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 8, 2024
This is the second book in this series. Quin and his friends from book 1 have moved to Canada and are running a security company. Whilst on a business trip, Quin hires an escort for the night and meets Red. The chemistry is immediate even though it’s a one night only. It’s not until a few weeks later that Red runs into some trouble and calls Quin to save him.

This book follows Quin and Red as they settle into life as Daddy and his boy. When Red tells Quin about something in his past, Quin steps in straight away to help. There are a few twists and turns but they have a happy ending. This was a quick read and I read it in a day.

    Next up is Michael’s book.

This had a different vibe to Taming Savage, but it still grabbed my interest. Now living in Canada Quin runs his own Security company. Whilst on a business trip Quin needed a boy and in walks Red. In the morning they both go their separate ways thinking they would never see each other again. A few weeks later the phone rings "Its Red. Daddy. I really need your help"
Quin was the perfect Daddy for Red, over protective, a big heart which was full of love and not afraid to seek revenge. Red filled a need for Quin, the boy Quin had only dreamed of.
After the initial threat, this story goes at a leisurely pace as Red not only gets to know Quin, but is introduced to Savage, Abel and Michael getting himself a ready made family. But when danger comes knocking, the pace goes 0-60 when Quin goes out for revenge.
    This was a enjoyable story
