Cloud Ten (Nailed It! Book 1) Kindle Edition
Becoming indispensable to a top exec is all he’s ever wanted, even if he is repeatedly overlooked in favour of other less well-qualified applicants.
The problem? 94% of executive PAs are women.
But resourcefulness comes with the territory. As does a pinstriped skirt, killer heels, and enough chutzpah to blag the interviews… conveniently passing as a woman instead of a gay man. Egged on by his friends, Frankie lands himself his dream job working for Lysander St. Cloud, a senior exec on the board of the family firm.
On the outside, his boss has it all. Or does he? Before long, Frankie discovers Lysander’s looks, money, and status mask a shyness and humiliating past he’d like to forget.
Lysander is straight, and he believes Frankie is a woman. A close bond develops between them. A bond increasingly in danger of slipping from professional into something else. Frankie needs to come clean before he hurts not only Lysander but himself. Will he choose his career, his friendship, or his heart? Or is he brave enough to fight for them all?

I think the blurb gives you the overall details very well. My take, Frankie dresses as a woman as a must to get a job. Maybe to prove a point. Lysander, Frankie's boss, falls for Frankie as a female, she’s a great EA, including excellent organisational skills, literally and metaphorically holding Lysander’s hand when he gets given a new role within the organisation, and generally calms him the hell down. And, you know, Lysander also likes those legs of Frankie’s. Frankie likes that swimmer bod, Lysander was an Olympic swimmer until recently, and the shy, non-w@nker way Lysander has about him, including his warm brown orbs, also known as eyes.
This is the (secretary) EA and the boss fall for one another, are right for one another story, but there is the twist that the (secretary) EA is a man pretending to be a woman. Then there’s the matter of Lysander being S.T.R.A.I.G.H.T. Frankie feels bad for not being upfront because he didn’t expect Lysander St Cloud to be a decent man.
'Misleading someone who didn’t deserve to be misled, not to mention everyone else at Cloud Ten, wasn’t moral in anyone’s books. Why did Lysander have to be so bloody nice?'
Cloud Ten attempts to tackle a lot of things. Workplace gender discrimination, a (potentially) gender fluid character, a heterosexual identifying man no longer being so sure. This is also a 100% bona fide GFY and that isn’t my favourite. The “bi awakening” trope, as people are wont to call it these days, does my head in. This is a homosexual man falling for the straight man, the one who has never thought about another man before sexually, never once. The gay man who wants the straight man. There's a lotta-lotta hurt feelings and fantasy wrapped up in that one.
This is probably the least favourite of Hill’s books I’ve read thus far. As I said prior, I’m not a fan of the GFY storyline but I discovered Fearne Hill’s writing this year and I’m on a seek and read Hill mission. I pre-ordered this. Sadly, I felt the MCs got lost in amongst the other characters and their little side storylines, like pregnancy, let’s go green, diversity is coming. I liked the MCs… but I did not love them. Not like Matt and Alex, Two Tribes brilliant MCs, or Lucien and Jay and the rest of the adorable Rossingley crew. Also, we all know Frankie’s sister is pregnant. Why she didn’t just tell her super understanding, far more mature than twenty-year-old boyfriend, Darren, I’m not sure. It was another thing that took up space I would have liked devoted to Frankie and Lysander.
I believe this book will be quite popular. It’s a fairly fun, easy read, although I was a tad on edge about what would happen when Frankie told Lysander the truth. When I analyse that, I think it’s because in a straight-up sweet contemporary romance I’m not fond of untruths. Also, while I get why Lysander reacted as he did, I still think he was a bit of a Basic Benny when he found out.
Overall, this book has a good heart with good points being made, but I feel like they served to compress the romance aspect and the real connection I look for. I didn’t completely know these characters. I truly wanted more chemistry built between Frankie and Lysander, and this is something I can attest to that Fearne Hill is usually superb at doing. But ironically, it was such a slow, slow burn sexually that the sexual connection overshot the runway, that magical feeling got lost, at least for this character obsessive. Cloud Ten is hard for me to rate. I feel it sits somewhere around 3.75 Stars!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2025The romance takes a back seat. There are too many characters with subplots that dilute the main romance. A sweet plot. Likable characters. Not spicy. Lots of tension building up, then it rambles and suddenly it's off page and off to another day. I finished the book and would really like to say I enjoyed it, but it just passed the time. More attention was paid to being LGBTQ+ aware and workplace details th an to the likeable main characters. I'll still follow the author, but am not interested in the rest of this series.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2023The first book in a series always has a heavy lift in introducing the characters and their world. That being said, the first part of this book was harder to get through than most of the books that I gave read by this author. The second half of the book was great and I was really pumped to read the next one aster it ended.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2025Well I’m not one for slow burns and that was obvious 30% into the book when I was itching to get to the fun parts. Haha but by the end, it was a great time. I did enjoy the story building but the inner monologue was a bit much. Wonderful book for young adults trying to find themselves, great advice and descriptions of identity. Would recommend 1.5/5 🌶️ level
- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2023I loved this story of Tristan and Dominic soooooo much!! I didn't like Dom at first, but this story is about giving someone who did a horrible thing a second chance. It is about being able to accept a heart felt apology, and letting that someone prove they can change and become a better person. We should all be as gracious as Tristan.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2022I really enjoyed this! I absolutely didn’t want it to end, I need the next book now! I think Frankie and Lysander are a perfect match, they are both so sweet. I loved Frankie’s family and friends and I’m very intrigued with the Lysander’s Scottish cousins.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 27, 2023Don’t miss this one, it’s too good. Frankie and Lysander have my heart! Great funny story written perfectly and although at first I thought there is no way it would work, I was so wrong! Wonderful writing an a set of characters you don’t want to say goodbye to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Brilliant Book From Fearne Hill
Fearne has done it again, she has written another book filled with humour, beautiful flawed and interesting characters and a cracking story.
This is the first book in the Nailed It series built around a construction company. Lysander left England as a boy when his parents split and grew up in the US where he became an Olympic gold medal swimmer. He is a shy introverted man and when his private life blew up spectacularly in the public eye he retired and returned to England where his older half sister, the new CEO promptly appointed him to the family board. Lysander knew nothing about construction. He was so out of his depth and needed an experienced PA to help him.
Frankie is good at what he does and loves being a PA but it is a heavily female dominated sector. When Frankie sees the ad for Cloud Ten it is his dream job and encouraged by his sister, twin brother and best friends he applies for the job, as a woman, sails through the zoom interviews and is hired.
This is where the book gets even better as Fearne writes a beautifully descriptive developing love story. Frankie is a force of nature and positivity, he is not Lysander’s usual type but he becomes obsessed, with her legs, and then finds himself falling for her. Frankie is his safety net, guiding him into his role and it’s a joy to watch them become close but as Frankie falls deeper he can see that Lysander’s feelings are changing as well and he knows he must come clean.
I was dreading the big reveal, Lysander was devastated, felt betrayed and was confused by his feelings, Frankie was a man, but he was straight, how could he feel so strongly for him. The pain they were both experiencing was palpable.
Fearne handled the situation beautifully and Lysander’s “coming out” and inexperience was sensitively and gently done and oh boy once he realised what he had been missing there was no stopping him.
All the characters in this book were funny and interesting and I can’t wait to find out whose story will be next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Frankie and Lysander are a delight!
To break into the female dominated field of executive assistants in the corporate world Frankie embraces his feminine side and lands a job in a major construction company. His boss Lysander is new to the business and floundering until Frankie brings his competence and drive into the office.
This story was wonderful, I loved Frankie’s spark and also his compassion and heart. Lysander is so sweet, I just wanted to hug him!
Really well told story, good pace, humorous in parts - this was my first book by this author and I can’t wait to read the next one! Highly recommend

A touch of in the clouds romance, quite a bit of real life, funny and tongue in cheek writing. Tender love.
