Famine: M/M Paranormal Romance (The Four Horsemen Book 3) Kindle Edition
Punished for choosing love over faith, the Archangel of Kindness emerged from a century of confinement enshrined in darkness, a shell of his former self. Rejected by the very Being for whom he sold his soul, the last threads of his sanity were stripped away. He became Lucifer, the King of Hell.
Famine’s choices have only ever caused suffering for those he loves. As the third Horseman of the Apocalypse, he is tasked with bringing plague and hunger to the Earth. But guilt nips at his heels as he blames himself for what Lucifer has become. He’s certain keeping his distance is the only way he can ensure Lucifer falls no further.
But together or apart, on the same side or not, it doesn’t matter. They are forever bound, forced to endure a never-ending loop of anguish. Betrayed and surrounded by new threats, they find themselves relying on each other while battling their own demons. But soon a choice must be made: allow their love to destroy them both or embrace it before the world ends.
Famine is the third book in the Four Horsemen series. This book is not a standalone and must be read in order.
Content Warnings: Religious themes, extreme violence, gore, and others.
Arachnophobia warning: There is also a dog-sized pet spider named Paul who just wants to be loved.
Famine is a paranormal, second chance, lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers, MM romance filled with snark and morally questionable characters. It ends with a HFN and a mild plot cliffhanger.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2023The most emotional of the books so far, oh the pining that we only get a hint of in the first book which continues in the second and comes in to fruition in this book.
It had me ugly crying and I'm glad no one saw me.
Lucifer and Famine were separated for thousands of years, punished for something out of their control.
But as things changes around them, as each horseman starts to find their second half, the two find themselves unable to keep apart any longer.
And really, when you have a child together, aka Paul, you have to remain civil, even if your whole family wants to kill your bad seed dream guy.
I'm liking the direction the books take, the ongoing mental downfall of god, something seems strange at first then it goes off the rails. I'm excited for the next book and I feel we need several short stories to fit in all that has happened behind the scenes.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2024Any story featuring the fallen Archangel Samael is usually a heartbreaker. This one at least gives us a happily ever after. In their own way at least. Reading this story brought me to tears a few times. I love how we got here and how it ended. Overall this was a great tale.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 10, 2022This is by far my favourite in the series. I cried so hard at certain parts and mourned with these characters. I can't wait the next book to come out. I would totally love to see this series turned into a movie or tv series. There are so many possible things to do with these characters and even the side characters. Keep writing and delivering us these amazing dark and twisted stories.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2023This book had me in tears. Lucifer is definitely a morally corrupt character, but seeing his story just made me feel so bad for him and Famine. Which led to the previously mentioned tears. I liked seeing their story in flashbacks as well as the current timeline. Famine and Lucifer's story is definitely one for the ages. They've been through so much to get where they are. I'm almost scared to read the next book because of what may happen to them, but I'm reading the next book so I know what happens. If you like darker books, this series is a great one but definitely read these as the series they are.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 7, 2022Paul the giant sassy spider very well may be the best thing about this series, I love him to bits and now need a Paul of my own. The sassy horses are fantastic too. Famine surprised me by becoming my favorite in the series so far. I’ve enjoyed each book in the series even more than the last. Things in the spice department got stepped WAY up in this one too, I throughly approve!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 29, 2022This third book has been quite difficult to read, I struggled a lot to finish it. Lucifer and Famine have a history, they were together years ago, when Lucifer was known as Samael. but God decided to separate them, in his obsession with power.
the book is good, our protagonists have a lot of chemistry, and the story is taking shape... it's just that Conquest was a lot More un this book, AND I really don't like him.
at least for me the talks continue, where everyone threatens each other, insult comes, insult goes and we return to the past with some memory....and then to the present and blah, blah, blah....
Right now I'm waiting for the last book by sheer force of will, because the truth is I don't feel sympathy for any character, nor do I care if they survive or not.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 7, 2023I never thought I could relate to a book. But here I am. I love this 3rd book on the series. Can't wait to start the 4th
- Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2023Love this series. We need a separate book about Atlas and Raziel and Conquest. That would be an interesting read.

5.0 out of 5 stars I can't wait to read Death!
Spoilers!!!
This series is so addictive, I’m attached to all the characters and I never get tired of reading their stories!
Unlike the previous couples, Fam and Lucy were already in love since the beginning of their relationship. They know that they will love each other till the end despite everything, despite the pain, the feeling of betrayal and the intense sorrow and the knowledge that they couldn’t be together anymore.
That means that among our couples, their relationship is my favorite. I still love all the couples but their love is so beautiful, it really affected me more than the others in my opinion. Even after all this suffering for thousands of years, they are still faithful to each other and they love each other so much.
They share a deep connection in their souls and their powers like the other pairs.
In this third book, we finally learn why God punished the Generals of Purgatory and the Archangel Samael... So, God discover one day that Sam and Fam are in love, he’s apparently afraid that their combined power will threaten him in the future. And just like that he punishes all of them (Samael, Famine, Conquest, War, Death) even though no one ever said that Samael and Famine couldn’t be together. Honestly, I was so confused by God’s actions. It didn’t make any sense; he doesn’t give any normal justification (which makes sense because he’s God); he’s not even trying to hide that his hunger for power is the only reason for this. Our poor Immortals suffered too much because of his madness.
And what he did to Famine (forcing his own brother to kill him) is pure evil.
Atlas and Michael’s fates were heartbreaking. Atlas is just amazing and wonderful, I hope he resurrect as an angel or at least as an immortal so he can be with Raz and Con, there’s no way he can die like that, he’s such an incredible character.
Honestly, I didn’t expect his relationship with Raziel and Conquest to take this turn! I knew the three of them were getting close and I literally thought one moment “Are you two planning to adopt Atlas?” but I really didn’t see their relationship coming. I hoped we could have a POV for Atlas, Raziel and Conquest in this book to learn more details about how it happened. Especially between Atlas and Conquest, because the later despised humans. But I guess that Atlas’ strong-willed and resilient personality it appealed Conquest (which is totally understandable).
I was sad for Raphael, I thought that Michael could be saved but I hope that Raphael can find a way to be happy.

3.0 out of 5 stars my least favorite
Ok, all the books had me from the beginning, but this one was slow, repetitive and for a long time not much was happening. Between the two of them their connection felt off for a good part of the book. It happens often when the story contains a second chance love. It has to be written well to keep the reader engaged. On the other hand around 70% of the book, the emotions were high and even made me cry. There’s one question I have since book 2; where did the mortal Atlas all of a sudden come from? It felt like he was dropped out of the blue and suddenly was very important to Conquest and Raziel. They even had a love interest in him. Because there was no mentioning about him in book 1, it felt weird how they developed to book 3.
