Home for a Cowboy (Windsor, Wyoming Book 1) Kindle Edition
Lassiter Windsor-March has been planning for his future for as long as he can remember and he knows exactly where that future lies: at his family’s ranch in Wyoming. What doesn’t lie in his future is a summer fling with one of the seasonal workers—they never stick around.
Even if one of those workers is the college crush he’s invited to work a summer job at the ranch.
Marco Terlizzese is as laissez-faire as Las isn’t. He might not know where he’ll be once his contract with Windsor Ranch is up, but he knows three months is plenty of time to get his long-time crush to agree to go out with him.
Amid a starry summer sky, their chemistry ignites as feelings deepen, forcing Las and Marco to decide where they truly belong.

About the author

Amy's lived with her head in the clouds since she first picked up a book as a child, and being fluent in two languages means she's read a lot of books! She first picked up a pen on a rainy day in fourth grade when her class had to stay inside for recess. Tales of treasure hunts with her classmates eventually morphed into love stories between men, and she's been writing ever since. She writes evenings and weekends—or whenever she isn't at her full-time day job saving the planet at Canada's largest environmental non-profit.
An unapologetic introvert, Amy reads too much and socializes too little, with no regrets. She loves connecting with readers. Join her Facebook Group to stay up-to-date on upcoming releases and for access to early teasers, find her on Instagram and Twitter, or sign up for her infrequent newsletter.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis is an enjoyable, low-angst book about two men who long for a future together while life seems to be taking them in opposite directions. Las left his home in Wyoming to go to college in Vermont, following the love of his life. That man, also his best friend, decided to go to England and not return, leaving Las dumped and heartbroken. Now, several years later, he doesn't trust in people who may leave and he doesn't do casual, so while he is very attracted to fellow student, Marco, he says no when Marco asks him out. Instead, he invites him to work a summer job on Las's family ranch.
Marco feels aimless. His life has been built around a hockey scholarship, but he doesn't think he's interested in working for the NHL. He received a Communications degree, but he doesn't want to work in the field. When he accepts Las's summer job offer, he doesn't know what to expect, but it wasn't to fall in love with the peace and quiet of Wyoming. Also, although Las turned him down for a date, the attraction is still there and it's beginning to feel mutual. It's beginning to feel like a lot more.
This book sets up a new series, with a supportive family and friends. It also has a beautiful love when Las and Marco decide to take a chance on a future together.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseMarco and Lassiter are college classmates. Marco wants to date Lassiter. When Lassiter turns Marco down, he offers Marco a job on his family's ranch. Marco accepts and goes to Wyoming for the summer. Lassiter keeps his distance as he was heartbroken in the past, but he keeps running into Marco. They begin going out and spending time together. Lassiter finally relents and they begin a relationship. What will happen when summer ends? What will happen if Marco gets an offer to play pro hockey?
I enjoyed this book. I liked the two men. They were different from each other, but it brought out the best in each. Marco got the chance to explore what he liked and wanted to do without the pressure of his family telling him to go into hockey. Lassiter gets to learn to let someone in close again. I liked that Lassiter took Marco to his favorite places on the ranch that no one knew about. I had fun watching Marco and Lassiter learn to trust and give in.

Lassiter Windsor-March knows where home is, and he has big plans for joining the family ranch after graduation. Marco Terlizzese is also graduating, but he’s feeling rather adrift.
HOME FOR A COWBOY is the first in Amy Aislin’s series set in Windsor, Wyoming. Las offers Marco a seasonal job on the ranch, and the summer gives them a chance to get to know each other. But Las has been heartbroken by people who leave, and Marco has given no indication he’s staying.
Las and Marco are sympathetic characters, and their families and friends a well written secondary cast. I enjoyed this ranch romance, and hope to see more in this series.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 13, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis book is an easy read. Light and fluffy and there's never any drama. There's no need to try to predict the plot because there isn't really one.
Protagonist A is heir to a ranch. He loves the ranch. He dreams about managing the ranch with his future husband. He goes to college to do ranch things better. The ranch is love, the ranch is life. His only requirement for a romantic partner: he must also love the ranch. Did I mention this guy loves the ranch? His biggest (only?) worry in life is that he won't ever be able to find a romantic partner that loves the ranch enough.
Protagonist B is a blank slate. He is like a duckling and just imprints on the other protagonist. He follows Protagonist A to the ranch. He falls in love with the ranch.
Therefore, happily ever after.
Solid 3/5: Fulfills genre requirements. Nothing truly memorable in a good or bad way. Doesn't spend too much time on sex scenes (because that time could be better spent describing the ranch and how much the characters love it).
- Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseHome For a Cowboy is the first book I’ve read by Amy Aislin, but I look forward to reading more. I was completely engaged with this story, it’s so well written and flowed seamlessly. There was so much pining in this story, So.Much.Pining. And I loved it. Las and Marco are so endearing! Apparently I’ve been on an opposites-attract kick lately, without even realizing it, and these two fit that bill as well. I loved how Las knew what he wanted out of life and for his future, and how opposite that was from Marco, who knew what he didn’t want, but couldn’t quite figure out what it was that he did want. Until he came to Windsor Ranch and found exactly what he wasn’t looking for.
And now I want to move to Wyoming and work at a ranch. Ok, maybe an indoor job at a ranch, but still. For me, the atmosphere and location of Home for a Cowboy were just as important to this story as the characters. Ms. Aislin did a really nice job of making me feel like I was there with them.
I'm looking forward to more books in this series- there are a few characters that definitely deserve their own stories!

5.0 out of 5 stars Slow Burn
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThere is just something about a book that brings a smile to your face. This is one of those books. It has all the feels your looking for in a romance between both main characters. Las and Marco are a hallmark story in print. I hope in the future we see more of this world with some of the secondary character’s that need their story told as well.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nett aber zu lang
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseDas war eine gut geschriebene Story mit viel Posie und Romantik , die aber nie zu süßlich geriet. Es zog sich nur etwas zur sehr in die Länge und droht leicht langweilig zu werden.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute romance but pacing was off.
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis was cute!
Las and Marco know each other from college, not quite friends but definitely noticing each other from a distance. Las is scared and vulnerable from past hurt so when Marco asks him out he declines but offers Marco a job, seasonal work on the ranch. Marco, who isn't too sure about which direction he wants his life to go now that he's finished college takes it and if he spends more time with Las well that's just a bonus.
Las knows his future is on his family ranch and that Marco won't stay once summer is over.
Naturally, they become closer getting to know each other and being drawn to one another. Marco is finding himself, figuring out what exactly he wants with his life. Las is desperately hoping he'll stay.
Las is such a romantic at heart, it is so lovely. Marco has always been into Las, and is willing to take the risk but they settle into a pining-friendship.
What didn't work for me was the pace. It felt really slow in places and I kinda got bored. Honestly I was much more interested in what's happening with Cal and Austin! Speaking of other characters, I think the pace wouldn't have felt so bad if we truly spent time with the other characters and seeing their relationships developing on page rather than randomly just dropping in here and there. Like, Marco and Reid's friendship. I really wanted to see it on page and I wanted to get to know Reid more. We do get to know Las's sister, Alice a bit and I loved her character, she was out here living her best life unapologetically. Love it. Beyond that though instead of truly developing those friendships/relationships/dynamics on page, moments with the other characters honestly kinda felt like filler? Also, the whole hockey thing in general with Marco just didn't feel true. It fell away pretty quickly for someone who is supposed to love it even just as a hobby.
It was still a cute read with lovely moments, funny and sweet and about these two guys finding each other and even finding parts of themselves. I loved the setting of the book too!
Now, LISTEN. I'm going to need that Cal and Austin story right about now.
