Another amazing book by Nicholas Bella. We are again taken to a whole different world with mages, shifters, and vampires. The amount of detail and time put in to creating something so vivid and real makes you feel completely immersed in the story. The characters are everything you have come to expect and love from Nicholas Bella. I have yet to read a book from Bella that doesn't give you every possible feeling from the moment you start it to the second you finish it. The characters in this book were great without making you feel like you have been there and read this type of thing before. In a genre that is hard to stand out in, Nicholas Bella always does and every time it surprises me and leaves me wanting so much more! The world that was created is so unique and the characters are even more so. Nothing follows your "typical" mage, shifter, or vampire. There is always something new, something exciting, and of course something sexy/kinky. The only thing I did notice that veered from the "norm" surrounding Bella's books is the M/M "sexy time". There was definetly some hot action going on but I feel this book was the first time it was more toned down and not so prevalent throughout the book. This in no way takes away from the book, just an observation. There was so much world building and action in this book it kept you engaged from start to finish and of course the M/M action was epic because Nicholas Bella writes the absolute best in this department. This book was amazing and I look forward to so much more. A must read!

    I loved That Mafioso Magic by Nicholas Bella. It's the first book in the Mages & Mayhem series. I loved Adrian and Sage's story. I loved how their magic blends and how each represents a ying and yang. I also loved how the book of spells is kind of sentient and will only show you the spells that you can do. For example, Adrian can't see any of the dark spells and Sage can't see any of the light spells or if they can, it would be a spell to counter what the other person would cast. I also loved their chemistry and can't wait to read the next book in the series to see what happens next.

    This was a very intriguing book. This is my first book by this author but it sure isn't going to be my last. I am going to have to look into their back catalog, as well as keep up with this new series. Sage is a mafia boss and lion king shifter as well as a mage. Adrian is a PI and a mage. These two represent both sides of a very balanced coin: darkness and light, Yin and Yan. They can't exist without each other. Adrian is as squeaky clean as is possible for a private investigator and the idea of actually killing someone is abhorrent. Sage has no problem with a justified death. He may be a mob boss, but he is also loyal, fair, and true in all of his dealings. He wants Adrian to figure out who is trying to kill him. Along the way, Adrian realizes there are very few things that are truly black and white. With some cooperation and a serious destiny, these two are going to have a fight for their lives on their hands. I look forward to the next book. I am also interested to see how the vampire is ultimately going to play out in this one. Color me very impressed with this book. I liked it much more than I expected too!

    At this point, it is not surprising to read another great book from Nicholas Bella. He has long proven to be one of the great masters in the M/M genre. Nicholas Bella's characters, whether vampires, wolves, gods, slaves or in this book, mobsters or mages are always strong and unapologetic.
    In That Mafioso Magic, NB did not disappoint, he gave us two well rounded protagonists in their own unique ways.
    Sage Tamir is a mob boss; he doesn’t make excuses or try to justify who he is. He is confident, arrogant, and self-assured “I couldn’t help but feel a little arrogant at the fact I looked so damn hot in a suit” Translation? I know who I am, nothing else need to be said!
    Adrian is not a weak link in this story, he could definitely hold his own. He is both fierce and funny: “I didn’t grow up with a silver spoon in my month. I fact, it was more like a spork, and a plastic one at that. Struggle was my middle name.”
    In That Mafioso Magic, these main characters are not just a good old private eye or an evil boss. These two are clocked in delicious shades of gray. Their opposing personalities are both simple and complex which makes for an explosive encounter.
    One of the things I love about Nicholas Bella’s characters is that you don’t have to like them or even sympathize with them. However, at the end of the day, you will understand why they are who they are.

    This is cliched in very many ways. And, I think, tries too hard.
    The characters are very one dimensional stereotypes without any redeeming features to get me invested in them. Beige. That's what they are.
    And it's all just so...pat. There is very little mystery or tension.
    Quite honestly, I was expecting more. More...heat. More action. More personality.
    And, while I am overall not a fan of "dark romance" some of them are really decent. This is not "dark" at all.

    Sage and Adrian are each others yin and yang. They are so good for one another .

    Honestly NB is a writer that keeps on giving and his series and writing only gets better the more he writes.

    I love all things paranormal and I'm pleased to say that this is another of his series involving the paranormal. His characters are interesting, and for a beginning story and start to a new series they seem to have a good bit of back story and personality to them. NB loves to writ bad ass men and it's nice to see a lot more bad ass females in one of his series.

    Overall I enjoyed the book and cannot wait until the next one.

    I absolutely adored this book and I can’t wait to read the next one. This is the trouble when you find a series that you really like but it’s not all been written. This book is a really compelling read. I was up WAY too late finishing it. The world building is terrific and every character is interesting and complex. I love the way that the characters are neither totally good or bad and that we learn the conflicted thoughts they have about what is going on and their reactions and actions. There is a fated mates type of thing between the main good character and the main bad character and, unlike a lot of fated mates books, they don’t fall instantly in love. Lust yes but there is quite a bit of conflict between them and it’s also complicated by what is going on around them. I want to say that this is a complicated book because of all the things going on in it, but that makes it sound like a difficult book to read which is not the case at all. Maybe I should say that it is complex but easily followed. I don’t like leaving really long reviews so I will just say that if you like mm fantasy romance then I highly recommend this book to you.
