Hex and the City (Stolen Hearts Book 1) Kindle Edition
Leon Alcantara is a real son of a witch.
The last in a proud line of witches, he’s come to test his small magic in the big city. Stealing enchanted artifacts pays the rent, but the competition is fierce. And handsome. And great at magic, too.
But Maximilian Drake and his dark, brooding glances are the least of Leon’s problems. A chain of anomalies surges through the city, strange distortions in reality that threaten both Dos Lunas and its people.
Suspected by the arcane authorities, Leon is forced to work with his nemesis to clear his name. But Max is so secretive over his shrouded past. Can he even be trusted? Leon must decide before the anomalies destroy the city — and his entire life.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2023Read this book twice before writing this review. Rarely do I do this but this one deserved it. So many urban Fantasy books out there with the same magical people but this one adds another element. Leon is unique and refreshing. Max also has some unique talents that we’re just learning about. Love the fast paced action and all the sass from the characters. If anyone is looking for something different and refreshing this is the series to read.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2023This was a fun start to a new series by Nazri Noor. Leon and Max are both “finders” in the arcane underground. Leon is a fly by the seat of his pants “witch boy” and Max is a mage who tries to plan his heists down to the last detail. They meet on a job when they realise the same contractor or “Spider” has hired them both to find a certain item and when it is literally stolen out from under their noses they are forced to work together to reclaim it while avoiding the “Masques”, a mysterious law enforcement group in the arcane underground. They are enemies at first sight but as they are forced to work together, and share an apartment, they realise they have been too quick to judge the other and they actually like what they see under the surface. There’s also an interesting backstory involving Leon and I am very intrigued in where that is going to go. I am very interested in continuing this series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 2, 2023Another new series chock-full of magic, mischief (a goddess is involved, of course), 2 magical MCs - brimming with sarcasm, s*x appeal and a mutual attraction - and an intriguing plot!
I loved how Nazri Noor weaves in aspects of magic history, cultural heritage within the story. Great world-building as well. Leon and Max are well written MCs, they make great partners on and off their finders jobs.
Of course reading this makes me impatient for the next book - what does the future hold for Leon, Max?
- Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2024Max and Leon were total opposites, which made their story so much fun! Both magic users from different disciplines, they just meshed. Add in a dragon goddess and this story goes from great to incredible. I really enjoyed reading this book and am looking forward to reading more in this series! Highly recommended

- Reviewed in the United States on July 10, 2023This is already starting out to be an amazing new series. I love Max and Leon! They have amazing chemistry and I just love the banter. Nazri Noor has been becoming a favorite author of mine. I definitely can't wait for the next book in this series.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2023I always love a new book by Nazri and this one did not disappoint. I found the shift in perspective between the two characters to be really nice and different than previous books,
Leon is sassy and flies by the seat of his pants and I look forward to seeing his power grow through his bond with Tiamat and possible more of the dragons. I also can’t wait to see Max’s reaction when he finds out the deal his bruho has struck.
I can certainly see a possible story line coming from Max’s past with a crime family. I also LOVE his diamond themed magic. And i have a feeling we he might find another use for his penetrate spell with a certain witch boy.
I can’t wait to see where this story goes and who from previous books might make a cameo.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2023Love the flow of Mr. Noors stories. The two main protagonists are fleshed out and fun odd couple. Was a fast read and looking forward to reading more about this unlikely couple and their friends.

4.0 out of 5 stars Leon & Max
An interesting world of magic. Leon & Max are finders, they’re both sent separately to find a velvet bag. Someone gets to it before them and strange things start happening. All the while Leon & Max start a relationship and fall for each other.
I really enjoyed this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magic and attraction
Nazri Noor has thought up another interesting duo and a world of magic and attraction. It’s a fast paced urban fantasy adventure that drags you into the story and keeps changing up what’s happening. You really won’t understand what is happening until you finish and can look back at the whole thing. It’s like a huge puzzle that is slowly put together but you can’t see the entire picture until the end.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great start to a series
This is the first book I’ve read form this author, but it won’t be the last! I really enjoyed the world building and the enemies to lovers trope, and for those who like a bit of a slower burn and more tension before the couple get together, this will be great.
I liked the thought and detail in the magic lore and the rules of the universe, and the characters were really engaging. I enjoyed the mystery and I think the overarching plot has great potential for where the series will go. I’ll be keeping an eye out for the next one!

4.0 out of 5 stars Magic and snark in the city
3.5/5 This was a really interesting world that I enjoyed learning about. For me, the ratio was a bit off with the enemy-to-lovers bit, and we spent too long with Leon and Max sniping at one another and not liking one another/not getting along. I wasn’t a huge fan of the intimate moments, I wanted more (positive) emotion behind it, and I felt like they weren’t there yet. I was happy with where they were by the end of the book, I just wanted them to get closer sooner. I enjoyed the mystery and Max’s friends, the possibilities with the Spiders and the Masques and Dos Lunas. There’s a lot of potential in this world, and I really like that Leon has found options here, and that he and Max have worked out how to work together despite their different ways of doing things.
I received an ARC from GRR. This is my honest review.
