Embrace Me: Love in the Pacific Northwest Book 2 Kindle Edition
Quinn:
Nothing is more important than family. Someday I’ll have my own, if I can ever find the right guy. For now, I'm concentrating on my career and a promotion. That is, until my company hires a hot-shot with the right credentials to snag the position.
I should resent him, but Tadhg Byrne is talented. And gorgeous. And though my ASL is pitiful, it means I’m the most “qualified” colleague to partner with him. Or so my boss says. So I guess I’m about to do myself out of a job.
Tadhg:
After a nasty breakup with my manipulative ex, I returned home to Seattle to lick my wounds. I’m done with relationships. From now on I’m focusing on my career.
There are just a few issues with that.
- It’s not that easy for a deaf man to succeed in a hearing world, even with the right degree and experience.
- Quinn MacDougall—my good-natured coworker. He’s incredibly talented, driven, and distractingly handsome.
- Quinn’s hearing, which is the biggest problem of all. How can someone who isn’t deaf ever truly understand and accept me?
Embrace Me is a low-medium angst, contemporary MM romance about language barriers, loving but demanding families, crappy bosses, and sexy guys in speedos. It contains no cheating, and a guaranteed Happily Ever After.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 20, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI loved, loved Tadhg and Quinn’s workplace, language barrier romance. This heartwarming story is full of passion, sweetness, acceptance, big feels, and love. It will give you all the swoony swoons while also pulling at your heartstrings with all the emotions - there was laughing, crying, swooning, cringing, teeth gritting, and cheering. Tadhg and Quinn are portrayed as real, relatable, and likable people who have flaws, but are really just trying to do their best as messy humans. Quinn is from a large, close family. He is a residential architect who is waiting for a promotion at work. Tadhg is also a residential architect who recently moved back to Seattle to distance himself from his controlling and emotionally abusive ex-boyfriend. Tadhg also happens to be deaf. Quinn has rusty ASL knowledge and a jerk of a boss and workplace politics result in Tadhg and Quinn working closely together on a project. There is intense attraction and chemistry between Tadhg and Quinn but neither of them is interested in pursuing it. They both try their hardest to keep themselves in the friends and coworkers boxes. Of course, feelings rarely stay in the boxes we try so desperately to shove them in. To get to their HEA there needs to be baggage unpacking, truth telling, and hard choices for both Tadhg and Quinn. I loved being part of their journey. The story was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline as shown through sweet moments, steamy scenes, chuckles, supportive friends, messy families, painful pasts, and all the heart squeezing love. It was quite easy to get into the author’s method of showing the difference between signing dialogue and spoken dialogue and read the story that way. As an added bonus, it encouraged me to brush up on my limited and rusty ASL. I am loving this series.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseQuinn is the go-to guy in the family, trying to get ahead at work to reach his goal to own his own architectural firm. Tadgh is trying to put his life back together after a breakup and also open his own firm. They meet and instant attraction but Tadgh doesn’t want to date, he doesn’t thing he’ll ever find the one, willing to communicate with him on his terms, although Quinn provides for a great distraction. Quinn doesn’t have time to date with family obligations and work but these two can’t stay away from each other. Good book. I wish we had more of an input from Jason, I thought he would pop up when Richard was at his worst but no.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 1, 2022Format: KindleVerified Purchase(Tadhg is pronounced T ī g with a long i sound and hard g sound).
The twist being that a deaf man and a hearing man fall in lust but how can that even work? After 34yo Tadhg leaves his manipulative Ex, Aston in California, he swears off men and plans on staying that way when he gets back home to Seattle. Tadhg lands a job at a high-profile architecture firm, Roi Bennet Collective. Tadhg Byrne had a great reputation in Los Angeles as an innovative architect of single-family homes, just what 33yo Quinn enjoys designing. Their meet-cute is fortunate for both of them and there is mutual attraction, but then they find that they will be working mates and that will not do. Right? Tadhg and Quinn are so great together but they fight it until they can’t anymore. But will they get their HEA?
Quinn’s family is big and wonderful, especially his Ma and Da. Tadhg’s big brother 47yo Blake who is actually his step brother is understanding of his situation and wealthy. Lots of secondary characters who are either wonderful, kooky or almost evil. I would love a story for Blake but I think the next in this series will be about Jules, Quinn’s male best friend and biggest supporter.
Will Richard Roi wise up? Will Aston leave Tadhg alone? How will it go in a hearing world for a deaf man? And, so many other questions will all be answered in this fantastic book. If you enjoy gay romance with passion but not overly descriptive bedroom scenes, try this book. I volunteered to review an ARC of it through Gay Romance Reviews.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 25, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAs the brother of a Deaf man I know the difficulties of the merging of Hearing and Deaf culture. If my brother’s boyfriend had spoken French or Spanish or even Cantonese, it would have been the societal expectation for him to learn to speak English. Yet, that this double-standard exists and perpetuates can cause harm to people and relationships. My brother’s boyfriend was Deaf and, given that my family already spoke ASL and were familiar with Deaf culture, meant that HE was able to accept US and be glad of his decision.
I loved this book, not only because Beck wove a beautiful tale of Tadhg and Quinn’s love for each other, yet also because this story and this dynamic needs to be “out there” for people to read about and to know that this is an important issue for a vast amount of the human race.
Excellent book! Masterfully written! Fun as hell! Tears and laughter ensured!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story, engaging characters, lively narration
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI loved this book so much I'm having a difficult time putting it into words.
Audiobook (ARC review):
I'm very new to audiobooks and have to admit that the first couple I listened to didn't exactly capture my heart and imagination. Gary Furlong, however, I loved. The only trouble I encountered, and this is probably a me issue, is that by times I had a difficult time differentiating between dialogue and inner monologue. However, Gary's vocal acting and inflection brought all the characters to life for me in a way I didn't expect and I'm excited to dive into more of his work. Recommended.
Story:
Deaf architect, Tadhg Byrne, has recently returned to Seattle in the aftermath of recently leaving a toxic and abusive relationship. His manipulative ex-, Aston, is something else, so heed the content warning of this book. As a result he is not looking for romance, however, his attractive Hearing family-oriented colleague, Quinn MacDougall, is temptation personified. They can be friends while they focus on their careers, and the big project they've been assigned, right?
I loved the character and world building in this book - it was so refreshing to see both main characters have well- rounded fulfilling lives and careers outside of their burgeoning relationship. I enjoyed being exposed to a bit of a different perspective with the inclusion of a Deaf MC, it has made me want to learn a little bit of sign. I enjoyed the scenes of them working together with Tom on the Discovery Park bid.
There was quite a bit of miscommunication and drama stirred up by others that would have ordinarily driven me up the wall, but it was dealt with so well I really can't complain.
Quinn was a bit of a doormat when it came to helping his large family with anything and everything at the drop of a hat and Tadhg still experiencing the aftereffects of his abusive relationship but them working through those and other issues really cemented that their relationship is built to last.
All of the side characters were fantastic and always added to the story without detracting from the main plot. It's a delicate balancing act that was masterfully executed. I particularly loved Tadhg's brother, Blake, and thought Quinn's nieces, Gia and Dani, were adorable.

5.0 out of 5 stars tear jerking slow burn
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseIt took me a bit to get into this book but then I couldn't help falling in love with Quinn and Tahdg. Tahdg lost his hearing at a young age and is Deaf. He's recently moved back to Seattle after a his breakup with a controling bf. They are both architects and Tahdg just started working on Quinn's team on a project. Quinn knows ASL from school and though he's a but rusty his group of friends also know sign language. This book really made me think of things from a Deaf person's shoes and how alienated it can feel. I think Quinn a d Tahdg are amazing, i love their friends, Quinn's family, especially his mum. There were moments when i laughed and cried with them. It had all the feels and i really enjoyed reading their story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Opening Himself Up Again.
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseMM, insta attraction, Contemporary, Romance. Easy to read page-turner with great characters, the second book in the series but reads well as a stand-alone with no loss of enjoyment or understanding. Some angst and trust issues due to former relationship and lots of heat. A great read which I really enjoyed. Guaranteed HEA.
