Love.exe: LGBTQ science Fiction Romance mm Kindle Edition
Not that Eric is looking for love. After breaking up with his boyfriend a year ago, he’s been apathetic about getting back into the dating scene. What’s the point? Relationships always crash and burn anyway.
When Eric’s best friend, Sabrina, sends him an XP30 android named Sloot to help him get back in the saddle, so to speak, Eric is mortified. The plan is to send Sloot back to the factory, but when the android begs him to keep him as his housekeeper, Eric feels sorry for Sloot and gives him a trial run.
Sloot is the perfect companion, and Eric decides he’s found a way to avoid the messiness of emotional intimacy. But things get complicated because Sloot is no ordinary android. Unbeknownst to Eric, Sloot’s creator tinkered with him and gave him the ability to love.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2023I really enjoyed reading this story. It was an interesting take on a developing relationship especially since one half of the couple was an android. I found myself completely invested in how things turned out for Eric and Sloot. It was entertaining to read.
I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion
- Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2023If you're looking for a book you can read in one sitting, this is perfect honestly. This book slightly reminds me of the video game Detroit Become Human, where we see how badly androids are treated despite them being used for various things to make human life more "convenient."
Absolutely loved Sloot, weird name, but he was literally precious throughout the story. I felt for Sloot, especially when he was recalling his previous experiences. This book was worth the read and it was a perfect length (though inside, I wish it was longer to see more of Sloot and his romance with Eric). 10/10.

Eric has been alone for a year and he's just now starting to miss the sex and companionship. His best friend Sabrina buys him a XP30 Android, which is supposed to be programmed to give and receive sex without any complaints. Eric isn't up for sex without knowing someone but because Sloot begs him not to send him back to the warehouse, he doesn't. Eric and Sloot spend time getting to know each other and soon Sloot is feeling things he isn't supposed to able to feel. It makes Eric uncomfortable and again he expresses a desire to send Sloot back. Sloot promises to not express feelings again, so Eric lets him stay. When a colleague tries to strongarm Eric into letting him have Sloot for the night, Eric realizes that he's starting to feel more than he thought. Now is the time that Eric and Sloot start to really get to know each other. Between meeting people who want to hurt them, Eric's ex and an accident; will these two work out their differences or will they get pulled apart?
I liked the concept of this story but the execution was a little lacking IMO. First the name given to the android is too odd and very distracting. I found myself rolling my eyes. Then the fact that Eric claims that he'd never let anyone hurt Sloot but actually thinks about loaning him out to a colleague, that he doesn't even like, is atrocious!! That no one except Eric seemed to treat the androids well is not fun to read. I think if the story was longer and allowed us more time to see these two interact and actually fall in love it would've been more believable. Seeing the falling in love vs being told that they fell in love. Okay read for a couple hours but not something I'll re-visit.

I really enjoyed S. C. Wynne's short story that creates an interplay between a gay male and an AI designed to provide "pleasure" to it's owner. There are some twists and turns, but a good example of what can happen when one provides a story line involving humans and an exceptional intelligent AI.
I am now very interested in reading other stories written by this creative author.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2023Eric has been avoiding relationships, men and sex. So his bestfriend gets him a sex Android. When Sloot arrives, Eric kind of freaks out. Sloot doesn't want to be returned, so Eric has him tend to the house instead.
What makes me sad is how we learn about how androids are treated in this world. I had been looking for something a little lighter. It was a really great story though. Eric was kind of irritating me by constantly making Sloot feel that his future was precarious and he couldn't decide to return Sloot at any time. Way to give the guy constant anxiety. Sheesh. Luckily he began to see how much Sloot meant.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2023I was slightly hesitant choosing a MM romance but was not only pleasantly surprised but drawn in so much by the interactions between the Mains. The story was well written with a nicely fleshed out world. Great spice level and a h.e.a. 10/10!

Oh my god, I have never read a sci-fi android romance before and this definitely did not disappoint.
Sloot and Eric are a match made in the warehouse sloot came from because these two just clicked.
Sloot was quite possibly the cutest thing i’ve ever seen, with how sweet he is to how he learns to process his feels, i just loved everything about him and Eric was just breaking my heart left and right but i’m so glad he finally got his act together. My heart loved these two and I hope to see more from this author in the future.

4.0 out of 5 stars He's a Real Live Boy
Eric split from his boyfriend a year ago, and his best friend Sabrina sends him a large crate containing a new android XP30 model for his birthday. It's the sexual pleasure model to be precise.
Eric is embarrassed, but when Sloot begs for a chance to stay, Eric puts the android to cooking and cleaning instead.
But Sloot is special. "Dr West" - horror fans will recognise the nod here - gave Sloot the ability to feel and love.
As well as being sweet and funny, this deals with abuse and power over androids and sentience.
A decent story for what feels like a potential series starter.
It's adorable and fun.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quirky but awesome
What a wonderfully quirky futuristic read! I wasn't sure what to expect when I grabbed this off KU but the cover drew me in which is not normal for me
And I really really enjoyed it.
The emotion that Sloot showed is well tbh kinda scary for being so real and possibly in the future but perfect for a romance read!

3.0 out of 5 stars Love.exe
This story lost out a little through no fault of its own, as I happened to have recently read another android/human romance that I preferred. The idea of sentient and mistreated sexbots makes me uncomfortable, and the way they and all androids are treated in this story is truly awful. There were almost no examples of androids being treated well, which makes me sad for the world, really, and I found those parts difficult to read.
I think this would have benefitted from a longer format, with more time for Eric and Sloot to fall in love. For example, it’s relatively late in the book that Eric contemplates loaning Sloot to a colleague (although less because he wants to and more because it’s expected and he doesn’t want to be weird), and I felt like we hadn’t made enough progress in treating Sloot like an intelligent being with feelings for this to end well.
I’m still reasonably convinced by the outcome because Eric mostly comes to act in a caring way even if he can’t admit it. There are some genuinely lovely moments like the beach or them cuddling, and satisfying moments like dealing with reindeer guy or Sabrina treating Sloot well. But as far as I could tell, Sloot never picks up any hobbies or interests of his own and always considers Eric his owner. I believe they have genuine feelings for one another, and the climax is very emotional, but it’s a pretty weird dynamic. I’m glad they get their HEA, however.
I received an ARC from GRR. This is my honest review.

3.0 out of 5 stars so much promise
There’s so much promise in this book. I love the concept but it needs fleshing out to build the tension. But it’s a good, if short, read.
