Perfect Blend Kindle Edition
Moving on after a divorce sucks, especially in a small town where everyone’s all up in your business. And they’re always in my business, given that I run the only coffee shop in town. I miss having someone to come home to, but focusing on my work gives me a purpose and won’t end in heartache. I couldn’t have made it this far without my friend Bricker from the online queer divorce support group. We tell each other everything. Well, everything except the personal details.
When Mikey, my high school crush, visits Dahlia Springs to write a story about our Pride Festival, I share my apprehension and excitement about falling for someone again with Bricker. Funny, he's in the same situation himself. I’m worried I’ll need Bricker’s support more than ever, because I’m falling for Mikey fast, and if he gets the promotion he’s expecting, he’ll be halfway across the country by next month.
But Mikey says he has feelings for me too, and he proves it by donning sequins and high heels to help me save our amateur drag night. I can’t ask him to give up his dream job, and everything I have is tied to Dahlia Springs.
I hope Bricker’s ready for all the messages I’m about to send him.
Perfect Blendis a low angst MM novella featuring friends to lovers, a secret online identity, and a swoon-worthy HEA. This is a standalone story set in Lee Blair’s Dahlia Springs universe.

You'll just have to read it to find out.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2023Perfect Blend by Lee Blair is a cute novella about two men who knew each other in high school and reconnect many years later. Dave (JavajackOfAllTrades) and Mikey (Bricker) have both joined Discord, an online queer divorce support group. Both have recently divorced and are trying to cope with the changes in their lives and the support group helps. They find each other’s posts intriguing and decide to text outside of the group because they have a lot in common. They get to know each other and since they have remained anonymous by giving no personal information, they reveal their deepest secrets to each other. Mikey is a writer for a famous gay digital magazine and wants to do a story on the Dahlia Springs Pride Festival. He contacts Dave who owns and runs a coffee shop there, who he met in high school but hasn’t had much contact with since then, and then decides to go there so he can cover the festival. Dave had a crush on him in school and is thrilled and nervous that he is coming. Once they meet they both find an attraction to each other that continues to develop as the week of the festival goes on. I really enjoyed this story. Both Mikey and Dave have been through a lot with their divorces but they are open to a new relationship that slowly develops while they are together. Their online banter as well as when they are with each other is often snarky and endearing. The townspeople are open and friendly and make Mikey feel like he is home and Dave’s friends are also funny and entertaining. Add in a drag show that both take part in and you have a great story about two men who have a lot in common that leads to love. There is some angst as they have to reconcile their feelings for their online selves and Mikey has to decide if he wants to move to Dahlia Springs or go to Chicago for a job opportunity, which is really hard because he has fallen for Dave. I also found it interesting that it took a long time for them to realize they had been texting each other for over a year as their alter egos since there were some pretty obvious clues. I highly recommend this story and I plan to read more of Ms. Blair’s books because I liked this one so much.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2023These two fell in love before they even realized who each other was. This was such a super sweet story filled with so much love and laughter, there was some sadness but more love than anything else. Mikey and Dave knew each other in high school but Mikey hadn’t discovered who he was yet and even though Dave had a huge crush on him he always thought he was straight: but you know what they say fate always find a way. These are super cute together and their chemistry is off the charts, the friends and family they surround themselves with are just as amazing. I loved everything about this story including how well written it was but the author and can’t wait to read more from them. 😀❤️
- Reviewed in the United States on August 31, 2023I have loved discovering Dahlia Springs in the Tap That Brewery series and this book was perfect thing to tide me over until book three! Dave is a divorced coffee shop owner in Dahlia Springs who is struggling to make the final break from his ex. Feeling that no one in his day to day life would understand he turns to a support group on Discord. He finds friendship with Bricker another divorced man and they quickly come to support each other. Meanwhile, Dave's high school crush, Mikey reaches out because he wants to feature the Pride festival in the magazine he works for. Mikey and Dave are straight out of a Hallmark romance movie and I love it! The citizens of Dahlia Springs are characters themselves and I love reading about them. This is a low angst story and even the eventual conflict with the ex is more tough love than bitchy showdown.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2023First off this book is so mushy in the best way and I loved it! 🩵
Dave is a small town man going through a divorce and finds comfort in others in a support group on discord! He’s just trying to make it through! I loved him! And am so happy he gets his HEA!
Mikey is a big city guy who’s content with life and up for a promotion at work, but things can always be better. I’m so happy he found his way home and is able to find the sense of family he’s always wanted.
Again I loveddd this one.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2023Sweet short story set in Dahlia Springs featuring Dave, who owns the local coffee shop and Mikey a recent transplant. Both are newly divorced and meet online anonymously looking for support then find a similar connection when they meet in person. Eventually they figure out their initial connection which thankfully didn't derail their new romance. This was the first book in the series for me and I enjoyed it enough that I plan to go back and read the first couple in the series to catch up.
