The Cockpit: MM Age Gap Romance (Voyagers Book Three) Kindle Edition
As a charter captain who’s at sea for long stretches of time, I’m resigned to a life lived alone. Until the irreverent Rafe Carter boards my ship. I’m flustered by my boss’s younger brother, a flirty photographer who ensures sailing is anything but smooth. While Rafe charms everyone, it turns out no one’s more captivated than me. But both of us have wanderlust; is Rafe going to walk off my ship and out of my life for good?
Rafe
My first gig is a dream come true: touring the coast of Australia on my brother’s superyacht. Only, this dream could end up a disaster since I’m forced to travel with the grumpy Captain George Bernard. I’m intensely curious about the quiet man who keeps mostly to himself and it turns out, still waters run deep.
And with George? My heart is already diving in.
The Cockpit is a frenemies-to-lovers, age gap, demi rep, MM romance filled with heartfelt confessions, possessive chemistry, and a swoony HEA. This is Book Three of the Voyagers’ series: everyone who boards the superyacht Now, Voyager is about to meet their match.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2024I suspected there was more to the animosity between George and Rafe. I loved that the crew meddled a little bit when it came to their dinner. These two were meant for each other. They just needed the time to get to know each other. I loved watching their love grow. George is such a sweetheart and just was so loving with Rafe. I was glad that they didn't let their insecurities cause issues as many couples do. Their time in BVI was so beautiful. I love that they rescued the three dogs. Can't wait for the next book!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2023This book was fun, romantic and Hott. George and Rafe are perfect.
I loved that George was older and needed that connection before just jumping into sex.
Rafe was so fun getting g to know and seeing him fall in love with George was beautiful.
I picked this up because the author posted on a MM group on Facebook and I saw The CrockPot not the Cockpit. Haha I knew I had to get it and I'm so glad I did.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2023I was excited to see this enemies-to-lovers story after seeing Rafe and George's interactions in book one. The romance in this book did not disappoint at all.
We already know that George is the uptight captain of Now, Voyager, and Rafe is Rowan's younger brother, a model turned photographer. In book one, we learn that they can't stand each other after an argument they had at Christmas dinner.
Rafe is using Now, Voyager, for a photo shoot and wants to avoid George as much as possible for the next two months. While they are rude to each other, they both can't deny that the other person is attractive.
They have a lot of tension and can't help but be at each other's throats at first. George takes the step to apologize to Rafe by having the crew arrange dinner for them. During the dinner, they are surprised because they get along and have a great night together, which is a turning point for them.
Rafe has never experienced romance, and George loves old-fashioned romantic gestures, which catches Rafe a bit off guard. As the story progresses, we see George being attentive, helpful, and protective, showing Rafe that he is his. We see something beautiful growing between them.
The story started rocky because of George and Rafe's history but quickly became a romance. George and Rafe's characters are developed well and were endearing. I loved their HEA, which was well worth the wait.
I received a free copy of this book via GRR and am voluntarily leaving a review.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 8, 2024so sugary sweet! and the occasional boat-rocking tumultuousness. if you like older men finding love on the high seas, or if you enjoy men being all in on a relationship...check out this book! my favorite so far in the series. george and rafe have my heart
- Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2024Well written story and well developed characters! You need to read this series in the correct order to get the most out of them. There is a lot of intermingling of people and places. These books are so great!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 1, 2023I loved reading this book about Rafe and George. Ava Olsen is a wonderful author and she did not dissapoint.
I can't wait to read the book about Charlie and Kieran (as I already read the book about Jared).
- Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 20233.5 stars. I was so excited for this enemies to lovers story. It was incredibly sweet and romantic once they got there and figured out their attraction. This is one of my favorite tropes. But, to be frank, I wasn’t crazy about this addition to the series. The writing was off, the story was a bit “meh”. I can’t put my finger on what exactly was off, but this was a far cry from how good the first two books were. I did enjoy the characters, main and secondary, also the banter and the scenery. The drama was good, not too crazy with a couple of over the top moments. Despite all this, I’m very excited for the next book of the series, especially the MMM element of it!
Side note: the main thing that threw me off was the misuse of descriptive words. Murmured was used far far too much and not always in the proper way. Another example was when one of the main characters “announced” something in a restaurant that normally would’ve been said quietly and secretively. That was just to name a couple. But, I did receive this as an ARC, so I don’t know if any of those issues were solved before the final send out.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2023"I want you to know, in every way, how much I love you. I want you to see it in my eyes and hear it in my voice and taste it on my lips. Because loving you and being loved by you is the greatest gift I’ve ever been given."
The Cockpit by Ava Olsen is the third book in the linked standalone Voyagers series. This is George and Rafe's story and what a total swoonfest it is!
We first met Rafe and George in Oh Buoy, with Rafe being Rowan's younger, (model) brother, with a sharp tongue and a taste for fun, and of course George is the older Captain of Rowan's luxury yacht/boat/cruiser. Whilst The Cockpit can be read as a standalone, you'll get much more out of the relationship and how it develops if you have the backstory from the previous books in the series.
The Cockpit is an easy read; it's a low angst, steamy, age gap love-fest, with an enemies (but not really) to lovers vibe to start, and a demisexual MC. And of course it has the happiest of HEAs!

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining romance
Rafe and George clashed hard when we first met them in book 1, and at first it seems like there’s no end in sight here as they continue to needle one another or epically misspeak. I loved the way the whole crew worked together to set the two of them up and give them a chance together. It was lovely to watch the deepening understanding and feelings as they actually took the time to get to know one another (and admit where a lot do that former tension was coming from, lol). I appreciated the demi rep and the reminder that there’s many different ways to be in a relationship and fall in love.
I liked the whole group of side characters, George’s romantic gestures, the diving together, Rowan’s overprotectiveness and Andrew reining him in, and a whole set of friends to step in when an outside force threatened.
It made me really happy that the future they forged didn’t require either of them to give up what they loved. (Actual compromise! Yay!) I loved the home they made in Tortola and their plans for the future.
Can’t wait to see what happens with Jared and Alex and Aiden!
I received an ARC from GRR. This is my honest review.

4.0 out of 5 stars Heartfelt
A very romantic story..George is simply wonderful. Very low angst considering the characters history.
Well written and a pleasure (mostly) to read.
Im an Aussie (a Queenslander specifically) where this story is largely based, and while this next section of my review might resonate with only a small minority of readers, for me personally the journey was let down by the completely unrealistic geographical distance references. I hadn't read reviews before I started but I found myself so thoroughly distracted by the characters nautical travels, I had to stop and mentally shake myself a bit (if only it could take a handful of minutes to sail from K'Gari (Fraser Island) or Moreton Island to Townsville!!) trying to rationalise my way back into the book..
On the whole though, I was happy that George and Rafe got their happy ending.
