Tisak (Kingdoms Of Pelas Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 208 ratings

The mage magic that saved them could also be their undoing.

Theon and his men escaped House Natas, only to face suspicion and unrest from the Shifter Resistance. Shifters don’t trust mages, even ones who freed an entire House from their bonds.

As tensions rise, Theon’s tenuous control on his magic slips further, until one outburst leads to an amount of damage Theon can’t bear. He must learn to control his magic before someone else he loves is harmed or the fire growing inside him burns him alive.

Luckily, Florin knows where to go. Unfortunately, going to learn control means leaving some of his men behind.

They may survive the battle of Tisak, but can their love survive mage fire and the difficult choices in their path?

The horrors of House Natas may be behind them, but the fight of their lives still lies ahead.

Tisak is the second novel in the Kingdoms of Pelas series featuring a scrawny mage, a towering half-orc, a beautiful tiger, a tiny human, and a fierce gargoyle. As well as plenty of surprises along the way. Equal parts unflinching brutality and robust love story, this book isn’t for the faint of heart. Our characters' journey is meant to be read in order and will continue through the Kingdoms of Pelas series. Tisak features a why choose/poly relationship and has a HFN ending. I absolutely loved book two of Kingdoms of Pelas. It picks up where book one left off and leaves us at a comfortable place, if not highly anxious for more! This series is my first of Michelle Frost's books and I will definitely be reading more.

This is a paranormal fantasy, so expect lots of different types of characters from shifters to orcs to fae. I love the gladiator/slave dynamic and where it goes in book two.

I've seen this described as harem, but it's really poly. The poly aspect is done so well with many POVs, all bringing different dynamics of love, sexy times, and friendships. I adore where this is going.

I was on the edge of my seat for a good portion of this! I can't wait for the next one!

I was pleasantly surprised by the first book and I continue to be satisfied with this second book. In fact, I’m more pleased because the editing improved in this book, so there weren’t distracting typos.

Probably my favorite part of this series is the realism of the relationship development. The characters don’t just fall into bed together because “Oooo, sexy”. They are all seeking emotional connections and sex is the physical manifestation of that connection. I realize that this is stereotypically seen as a female mindset, but within the context of the setting/characters, this makes perfect sense. So the story ends up with a depth that is often missing in so-called “romance novels” where the characters fall on each other within minutes of meeting.

I could sit here and cite examples of things I liked about the story, but spoilers, so I think I’ll leave it there. Looking forward to the next book.

Theon is such a lucky little human mage ;) His tiger shifter, his half Orc, his fae, and his gargoyle all love him. They are working to end slavery for shifters and humans.

In this book, Florin, Theon and Braz are on their own for a bit. It's kind of nice to have more Braz and Florin time.

I enjoy the over arching story. I love the characters. Looking forward to the next book.

This series is not an easy read but it is so good. Theon and his lovers are now with the Resistance, trying to stop the way the kings and lords hold entire lands hostage. Their world is brutal but beautiful at the same time. These five love each other so much. They all have some hard choices to make but no one can keep them apart for long. Don’t read this one if you haven’t read book one, Zyon, yet.

I really loved the first book, but it had been quite a while since the last one that I worried that I wouldn’t remember enough about the characters, but that never really happened here. This book is from many points of view, so as a reader you met everyone again and remembered why they were so awesome.

I am so sorry! I couldn’t help it! I skipped from the moment the tiger expressed his hurt being left behind until Theon’s return. You know what? I didn’t miss much but chapters of angst I didn’t miss. The ending was good. Will read the last book. At least the interesting parts.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid Story!

Tisak was excellently written, but the separation of characters was hard to get through for me, as the book was at its best when all the 5 main characters were together. But still a great read and excited for what’s next.

5.0 out of 5 stars A couple of great authors team together
Reviewed in Canada on August 23, 2023
These authors both have many great books written so it’s not a surprise that this series is so well done. The world building just increases in this volume as the guys have to travel to find the Shifter Resistance and Theon feels like he has to go away and learn how to control his power better. I love the way the struggles and danger they go through are interspersed with relationship stuff and not always with all five guys together but individual couples and groups within the five man group (don’t know what you call a relationship of five people together? Busy? Lol) I used to read a lot of fantasy books when I was younger that never had much romance in them but I enjoy this type where love is part of the story partly because people generally keep feeling things even when action, danger, conflict, etc is going on around them. It’s also because I like knowing that there is going to be some type of happy ending even if it’s just happy for now which is what we get in this book. There are big hints in this book about what might be happening in the future volumes and I look forward to reading what does happen next.
