ISO: In Search Of (After Oscar Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 1,829 ratings

How in the world does a grumpy rancher end up falling for a rich dilettante?

Richard Dunning has it all: private school education, an exquisite designer wardrobe, a last name that ensures he’s invited to all the best parties, and a skincare regimen that’s to die for.

The only thing he doesn’t have is… well, a job. Or a home. Or money in the bank. Not since his dad cut him off.

So when his best frenemy approaches him with a bet—spend a month working as a cowhand on some godforsaken Wyoming ranch in exchange for his dream job—he’s a little too proud and a lot too desperate to say no.

But from the moment Richard and his rhinestone cowboy hat show up at the Silver Fork Ranch, nothing is as expected.

Not the beautiful vistas, not the terrifying horses, not the friendly people, not the epic quantities of cow manure, and definitely not Boone Hammond, the rugged rancher whose eyes are a little too intense, whose expectations are a little too high, and whose kisses are… a lot too tempting.

But when his month on the ranch comes to a close, Richard must choose: return to the safe, luxurious life he thought he wanted… or risk everything for the love he’s been IN SEARCH OF all along.

ISO is a beautiful continuation of the After Oscar series and well worth the wait.
Even though I did not reread the previous books, I didn't feel I was missing anything as I read this one. I am looking forward to meeting Oscar in the next book.
Once I opened ISO, I was immediately immersed in the pages, unable to put it down. The storyline and the smooth flow from scene to scene allowed these characters to come to life in my mind. I could easily visualize the settings and feelings as they stole a tiny part of me. I laughed and cried, then laughed and cried some more. Yes. I said it twice because that's how much it touched and tickled me in equal measure. It was beautiful.
I didn't expect to care about Richard as quickly or as much as I did, but he stole my heart. While he isn't innocent, he has an almost childlike energy and joy that takes over the page. He sparkles.
Boone is stalwart and strong and just what Richard needs in a partner. He's honest and sincere and believes in Richard even when Richard is unsure. He is Richard's polar opposite, but they fit together perfectly. I fell in love with him, too.
Richard and Boone's physical chemistry is potent, and their emotional connection is deep, believable, and satisfying. These two will be together forever.
They are now my favorite couple by these authors.
I had so many emotions reading this. The ups and downs kept me glued to the pages, and I hated for it to end. That’s some good stuff.
I look forward to more from these authors.

In Richard and Boone’s book, we continue the after Oscar series. These two are thrown together by Oscar himself when he put forth the challenge to Richard to work on Boone’s ranch in Wyoming. Richard, is way out of his league on a ranch having come from money and privilege. However he is adamant and stubborn to show he can do it, and do it he does! Boone for his part if desperate for the help, but doesn’t put a lot of stock into Richard, largely from comments from Oscar clouding his opinion of Richard. What ensures is a sweet, opposites attract, and fun romance between the ranch hand and boss! each of these men endeared themselves to me throughout the story and in the end I loved these two together. There was wonderful banter and laughs throughout. We got some more crumbs about Oscar throughout, and I’m still eager for his story!

I've been ISO, i.e. in search of, the next book in the After Oscar series ever since the third one was published more than three years ago. Well, the search is officially over because Lucy Lennox and Molly Maddox have just released book four, and wouldn't you know it, the title just happens to be ISO: In Search Of. Wink, wink. Okay, obviously, I knew what the title was, and I was trying to be all cutesy about it. This is the penultimate novel in the series, meaning the next one will be the fifth and final one (and yes, it'll be Oscar's much awaited story!). But I digress! Before I get all those bittersweet feels because this highly entertaining and endearing series will be wrapping up, allow me to laud this newest addition because Boone Hammond (aka Oscar Overton's high school sweetheart and childhood best friend) and Richard Dunning's (aka James Allen's ex-boyfriend in By the Way, After Oscar #3) romance is a fab read!

Forty-one-year-old Boone Hammond is desperate enough for help around Silver Fork Ranch that he accepts his old friend's "recommendation". However, one look at Richard Dunning and it's clear that the twenty-nine-year-old knows nothing about being a ranch hand or plain, ol' manual labor in general. But Boone needs the extra pair of hands and Richard needs the work, especially after he quit working for his father and was summarily cut off from any funds. Wyoming is as far from the life in New York that Richard knew, but he refuses to up and quit and prove to his ex's ex and still close friend that Richard is nothing more than a spoiled brat who isn't worthy of much. On the surface, this looked like a disaster waiting to happen, but neither Boone nor Richard thought this would be exactly what they both needed.

Boy, did Lucy Lennox and Molly Maddox reward our patience with what turned out to be a truly fun-filled read. Grumpy/sunshine is one of my favorite tropes, and the whole opposites attract thing was strong with these two main characters. I loved seeing how far Richard came while still keeping that kind heart of his intact. He and Boone just clicked once they got out of their own way, and Boone letting go and truly going after what--who--wanted most was so darn gratifying. Not only was Boone and Richard's romance that great mix of heat and heart, but readers get to know a wee bit more about Oscar's history. I read ISO: In Search Of in one go, and was left feeling I'd found what I was looking for in a romance. Five stars.

Richard from James and Sawyers story get his HEA. Flitting around from job to job, interest to interest but never committing to anything. His reputation precedes him and he’s having trouble keeping up with his life of leisure now that he quit working for his father. Oscar presents a challenge and Richard can’t decline. Boone needs a farmhand and Oscar forces Richard on him. All in all, Richard tries his best, it’s difficult but he finds it rewarding and the view of the handsome cowboy isn’t half bad. The two have interest in each other and it was so sweet to see them get together. Boone believes in Richard and Richard gives Boone all of him. Really great story.

In the previous book I didn't like Richard's character, but he came into his own in this one. Funny, light-hearted, flamboyant and maybe a little nuts. Out of his depth, comfort zone finds that real friends and family are not always the ones you are born with.

I couldn’t put this book down because it was so good. It draws you in unknowingly and is joyful to read. I highly recommend ISO. The sad part is it ends. I want it to continue to know what happens next.

This book was a 5+ for me. I love a romance that literally makes me laugh out loud and this one did it several times. Richard is the most hilarious, sparkly, fun character you will ever find. All with a backbone of steel. Boone is his perfect match and their story is a delight.

Another great addition to this series - I enjoyed learning more about Oscar through Boone and Richard’s eyes too and am looking forward to his story when it’s ready!!

Boone and Richard were great, Boone, a kind of predictable, straightforward, ‘what you see is what you get’ man and Richard, his complete and utter polar opposite.

Together they were just what each other needed, they surprised each other I think, but what I liked most was how Richard surprised himself!

I loved the acceptance in this story, Richard and Boone being together was never judged, the other cowhands never judging Richard’s abilities, just letting him find his way.

I love finishing a book and feeling happy with more than just the HEA outcome, this story really made me smile!!
