Brushed With Love (Surfing The Waves Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 546 ratings

Clement Constantine Church is a hot mess. With deadlines to meet.
Whereas the striking Viking redecorating his seaside cottage is simply hot.

As a precocious teen, Clem wrote a best seller. Now he writes for other people. Too busy contemplating his bleak career and panicking about pretty much everything, he doesn’t notice that the gorgeous surfer slapping paint across his bedroom walls has a top-notch flirting game. Nor that the body hidden underneath his white overalls should come with its own government health warning.

Anyhow, apparently the Viking is straight.

After one too many unwise hookups, Ragnar Aleksander Sigurdson Eggebraaten needs to lay low and avoid romantic entanglements. Which means there is zero chance he’d ever fall for a lonely writer. Not even if they pretended to be fake boyfriends during a weekend trip to London. Not even if there was
only one bed. And especially not if he’s planning on leaving England at the end of summer to fulfil his dream of setting up a surf school.

Can surfer Vikings fall unexpectedly in love? And are failed writers allowed to write their own happily ever afters?

Brushed With Love is a warm and funny romance set in the UK. Trigger warnings include cosmic lizards, feisty octogenarians, and a spoiled shih tzu.

Beautiful story ❤️

Beautiful story ❤️
Clem and Eggy are your quintessential opposites attract ❤️ On paper they shouldn't have anything in commom, but their fake boyfriend status turned into so much more. Eggy was outspoken and lived life with no regrets, Clem was an introvert that loved his books. I really enjoyed the way they interacted together, it was a slow dance of sorts for these two. Some of the unnecessary misunderstandings had me rolling my eyes, but they came around when they realized where their hearts belonged. At the heart of it all, I loved these two together and the joy they brought each other brought a smile to my face. This was my first read by Fearne Hill and it was a winner. My heart is happy and I look forward to more books in this series.

Unabashedly delicious!😏 I fell in love with these two adorkable, sweet and moody characters as soon as they were introduced. Eggy...😂 I mean, who doesn't want to be in the orbit of a sexy Norwegian from the Arctic Circle!?😋 Yum... And then there's Clem, an emo, broody delectable little English biscuit...😚😶 These vividly created men pull you into their world, which is expertly penned into your brain! The secondary character, Fifty, adds such an incredibly lush layer woven into Eggy and Clem's story, he leaves an indelible mark never to be ignored and leaving you wanting more!😁 Sweet, sexy and funny, this book is a charmer!!!😍😘 Recommended highly! Will live rent free in my brain forever!!!😊

I'm not sure entirely what to say about this book. It grew on me and I came to be invested in the HEA.

I was turned off by the first chapter, which felt more like the setup of a friends-to-lovers romance, introducing Eggy in part through discussing Fifty's unrequited love. Once I met Clem and made it into the heart of the romance, I enjoyed it.

As someone living in the northeastern US, I hadn't realized there was a surfing scene in Devon so enjoyed a setting which had both surfers but a classic English cottage which highlighted the difference in Eggy and Clem. I was intrigued by Clem's background as a phenom best-selling YA author who was now struggling (I loved his self-analysis of his younger self).

I'm now waiting for the next book in the series, looking forward to another unfamiliar setting!

The love interests in this HEA are developed as they interact, tell their stories, and reveal things that a blurb can't do. I found Fearne Hill's storytelling captivating in Two Tribes, and this follows a theme of folks whose circles would have few chances at intersecting. Yet, they are meant for each other, and provide inspiration to each other as well as "completing" each other. Yes, the trope is referred to in the adventure, but in this case, their puzzle pieces fit so well together.

It was an enjoyable read, a delight of found friendship, love and "completing" each other.

Nobody does tender-funny like Fearne Hill! When we meet Eggy, hey yay seeing how far and wide he can spread his Viking genes. He and his best mate Fifty ( love how he got that name!) live free and easy, surfing their quarter of the globe and saving for their dream business in the Canary Islands. Clem is a genius emo author who is so repressed it practically takes the Jaws of Life to get him out the front door. When these two collude over a house re-do, sparks ignite a conflagration. Of course, it’s never that simple, and the journey is deeper that one might initially expect.

As always, Fearne’s inimitable style and snarky sense of humor creates a place in the heart for every reader. And just wait ‘til you get a load of Dame Margarite! Waiting impatiently for the next in what I hope will be a king and delectable series!

I was very optimistic about this book. Reading the description had me jumping to put this at the top of my TBR list! Unfortunately I almost stopped reading very quickly into the book. I’m not sure why but the first 45ish% was really slow. Yes, the characters meet and we get to know some background but it’s like the reader is left on edge about too many secrets. I didn’t like feeling left out of so much information for so long. Thankfully I kept with it and by the end I loved the story. I will add the steamy scenes are also pretty good but it felt like they could have had more detail and maybe been a bit longer.

I love Fearne Hill's stories - they have delightful characters, humour, attraction/lust that, (with a touch of angst), always turns into a heartwarming HEA. This was no exception.
Eggie and Clem - a delightfully opposite pair on the surface, but both have more in common than they realise.
They don't start of on the right foot, Eggie is a bit irreverent and Clem is a bit stuck up, Eggie appears to be open and gregarious, Clem is more reserved. They get to know each other better, enough for Clem to ask Eggie for help as a fake boyfriend. It was fun to see how self-professed manwhore, Eggie fell completely for Clem and Clem, well he didn't stand a chance.
Honestly, it's best to read it to get the full experience! Loved it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing characters - the Viking and the Emo

Another new-to-me author. I will admit this book to me a while to get into but I am so glad I persevered. The writing style seemed a little different at first, but mostly it was due to the character that the author was depicting... and after a while it just worked! What amazing characters. I fell for both of them with their little quirks and insecurities while the author took me on ride with their relationship. This story was so different to what I expected but all the better for it. If you like MM romance and want a change from the US settings/authors give this story a whirl - I think you will enjoy it. I'm off to read the next book in the series!

An absolute giggling riot. A surfing Viking with an unreadable, unpronounceable name meets the cute writer in this story with chapters full of pining and flirting. A rare rom-com where every word is a pearl woven in a long string. So hold your necklaces, friends and read this for giggles, laughs, hugs, swoons, and steamy scenes that will fog your glasses. Did I mention the laughs. Well you get the gist.
