Michael

Michael Kreed is a wealthy man with the world in the palm of his hand, and he’s looking for a new pet. What he craves comes in the form of Hunter, a young man with a gorgeous, lean body, an attitude, and a determination not to yield. Michael wants to keep Hunter unbroken, but is it worth pursuing a relationship with his new obsession?

Hunter
Hunter’s life changes forever when he is sold at an auction to a sophisticated, handsome billionaire named Michael. Collared and made into his pet, Hunter resists his owner and craves to have his freedom and old life back. But is the new life that Michael is offering him better than the only one he’s ever known?

Sold is a slow burn MM captive romance and features a billionaire and his pet, collars, sexual awakening, spanking, the forced proximity trope and the opposites attract trope. It can be read as a standalone. Content warnings are in the front matter of the book. Reader discretion is advised.

This book has many triggers, this book has mind conditioning and Stockholm Syndrome with Hunter just accepting the best of a bad situation. I thought the author did a good job of making this story more out of the box.

I had a hard time making a decision to give Sold by Ace Fawn a 4 or 5. I really wanted to give it a 4.5 stars but this is not possible. The reason for this is because I enjoyed the genre and the trope of kidnapping and enslavement. But I hated where Hunter acted like a spoiled child about 88% into the story. Before this scene, I was in love with the story. I was devouring it and couldn't put it down. Then Hunter acted like a child and I almost didn't finish. But I did and I was glad I did. Again, I love the premise of the story but I wished the characters were more realistic and acted their age.

3.5 stars. New to me author. A smattering of different tropes: auctioning, Stockholm Syndrome, kidnapping. Slow burn but steamy and not as dark as anticipated.

I received a free copy of this book via Indie Author Creative and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Sold is kind of a weird book in that the story moves quickly but in a very relaxed way. Like weeks and months pass but there is never a sense of urgency even when it comes to Hunters escape attempts. And Micheal is the chillest buyer of humans I’ve ever read, like the whole experience is treated so commonplace that it was really hard to hate him lol and even from the summary I thought that maybe this was an alternate world where human trafficking was just the norm because once again there was a lack of urgency or danger. Which tbh is probably why I liked Hunter and Micheal together so much because they were likeable

This story is well written, so much so that I couldn't believe I would even consider having any compassion for Michael's character. Hunter was deservedly angry at his situation and I couldn't get my head around how it was just so normal for Michael. No one did anything to stop the path Michael was on. Their story came to the most logical one for the way their relationship grew. This is as I mentioned already a very cleverly written book. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

I hated the first mc, the billionaire Michael. He came across as so patronizing and annoying. Like, he's honestly punchable. And Hunter was ok and realistic but I didnt fall in love with him. good thing was that his character development was complex and not straightforward. And it's still a quick fun read I guess.

So this was a different read than what I normally read but I really enjoyed it. It did kind of irritate me that Hunter acted like a child half the time but I guess it’s understandable with the situation he was in. I still really enjoyed the book and the spicy scenes were really good too

Ace Fawn has written what I found to be an interesting but sort of weird for the genre story. I expected it to be a lot more d@rk but except for the beginning it was more like two men in a consensual bdsm relationship. Michael allows Hunter a lot more freedom to say yes or no to things and the relationship grows at very slow rate. At the end I felt like there was something missing. Maybe more about the men themselves because most of book seemed to be in a vacuum that just had the two of them in it.
