Wolves Always Bite (Willow Lake Supernaturals Book 2) Kindle Edition
Ask a lot of questions, take a lot of notes, and try to seduce a werewolf, of course.
Jeremy has always wanted to befriend mythical creatures, play with forbidden magic, and meet his fated mate. Okay, okay. He knows the difference between fiction and real life; he is an author after all… Or he would be if he ever got to “The End” on one of his stories. So he realizes his desire to live inside a fantasy romance novel is a touch unrealistic, but where is the joy in living a life that is boring and predictable and overwhelmingly blah?
At least that’s what he thinks until a hot AF werewolf saves him from his freaky boss and turns his whole life upside down. And his boss? She isn’t the weird old lady he thought she was, but how could he have guessed she is a grumpy goblin with a reputation for selling black-market magical artifacts? Now Jeremy is determined to know everything about the supernatural world, and Adrian, his swoon-worthy werewolf hero, is willing to answer all his questions, even when they make the big guy blush.
But when his former goblin boss kidnaps his cat to convince Jeremy to return the items she thinks he stole, things get serious fast. Now in between plotting his next MM romance and seducing the beautiful werewolf (and not just for research purposes), he needs to stage a cat rescue. Life is definitely not boring now.

About the author

When Lori was in elementary school, she wrote a very compelling story about a girl with a prickly personality who turned into a rose. (Sounds amazing, right? She knew you'd agree.) Then she discovered romances in her teens and, well, she knew she wanted to write romances. It took her a little longer to find MM romances, but once she did, she was addicted. She lives in a small town in Alberta with her husband and an elderly black cat. She also writes MF and MFM romance under a different pen name.
Lori Ames writes MM romance with touch of magic!

- Reviewed in the United States on May 18, 2025Loved Jeremy and Adrian, but especially Jeremy. It builds from the first book, where we are introduced to Ash, Jeremy's BFF.
The world Lori Ames builds is filled with wonderful (and some not so wonderful) supes, and like Jeremy, I am fascinated by the different people and their powers.
Jeremy is an aspiring writer who gets up close and personal with supes when he has to be rescued from his goblin employer,(soon to be ex-employer. The quitting scene is funny). His rescuer, Adrian introduces him to his team (more supes). They make their way to Willow Lake, where Ash, Jeremy's BFF lives - their reunion is hilarious! They, and the others help with an ongoing investigation, during which Adrian is told tha Jeremy is his mate. They get their HEA, but the Willow Lake issue continues.
The narration by Kirt Graves is great, really enjoyed listening to him portray the different characters. He made it a great way to enjoy the story. Definitely recommend!

I really enjoyed this book.
Great world building, intriguing supernatural beings and magic.
Jeremy and Adrian were really sweet and adorable together.
Lots of hilarity and unexpected twists and turns.
Kirt Graves did an amazing job narrating and bringing these characters to life.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2025Jeremy is a writer with an active imagination. He finds himself caught up in a supernatural showdown between his boss and a hot wolf man. He learns all about the Eternal Magic and that his best friend is a part of it all!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2025I get the feeling this one might end up being my favorite. Jeremy is the absolute best and man, do I identify with his brain way more than I should probably admit. I'm completely loving the world of this series. Willow Lake sounds fascinating and the folks who live there make me want to visit. Hoping the team from this book make more appearances (pretty sure one is in the next book). This series is definitely going to be a frequent reread of mine.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2025This book was very sweet overall. I enjoyed the humor and adorableness between these two. This was very low stakes and low angst; it was a pretty light and fluffy story, barring a couple of things.
While I did enjoy this book, it didn't feel fully developed. I feel like 3 things happened, and somehow, that took up the whole book, which I didn't love. Despite this, the book was still very cute and enjoyable.
Tropes Include:
MM Love Interests
Dual POV
Wolf x Inquisitive Human
Fated Mates
Magic
Hurt/Comfort
Low Angst
Low Heat
HEA
- Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2024This was such a fun ride! We first met Jeremy in Hellhounds Never Lie--he's Ash's bestie. Now we get to see what happens when he learns there really are such beings as werewolves and hellhounds and other supernaturals. (Merfolk and centaurs and minotaur oh my!!)
There are also a bunch of baddies who really need to get taken down *hard*.
Looking forward to seeing what happens next!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2025I loved the story, the pace was always clipping along, it kept me guessing but the twists didn’t feel like they came out of nowhere. Jeremy, that little ADHD cinnamon roll, such a cutie.
Also, I just want to say, the quality of writing/editing is really good. I can and will read less well edited work, and no shade to those authors, the writing is hard enough. But kudos to the author and editor on this and the first book.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2025Read this book for Jeremy’s inner monologue and outer dialogue. I mean, sure, there’s his perfectly matched Wolf Boy, a supernatural sleuth squad, lots of magic and adventure as well as a few bad guys getting their comeuppance, but really, read it for Jeremy. 5 wholesome stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun, adventurous supernatural romance
4.5/5 This book introduces us to a whole new group of fascinating characters to add to the Willow Lake crew, as well as an even bigger mystery than what is going on with stolen magical artefacts. This is a well-built world with a ton to supernatural beings and some complex connections and histories.
Jeremy was a delight. It was lovely to finally meet him in person and watch the entertaining way he learned about and reacted to the supernatural world. I liked how he and Adrian interacted, how well they got along and wanted to take care of one another. There were a couple occasions where Jeremy was a little too impulsive for me, but it does seem to fit with his personality. I loved how much Jeremy loved Clawie and how Adrian never questions it.
I can’t wait to spend more time with these characters, see more of them find their HEAs, and get to the bottom of the over-arching mystery plot.
I received an ARC from GRR. This is my honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars loving this series!
Characters are fun but with serious elements, as well as different aspects of the supernatural trope. The story arc is interesting, with clues for potential developments which encourages continued following even if it is just to see if I got it right. looking forward to next one in the series

4.0 out of 5 stars More going’s on at Willow Lake
Lori Ames has just put out this second volume in her Willow Lake Supernaturals series and this one focuses on Jeremy who is the best friend of Ash from the first book. Ames has done a great job of balancing out the serious story with humor and love. I like that she has Jeremy being an aspiring writer and I wonder how much of Jeremy’s writing problems and feelings have come directly from her life as a writer. I’m trying not to give something big away but I really enjoyed how she made it that Jeremy is able to be with Adrian. Really fun read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good story
Really entertaining story. I still have ongoing cat issues. Paws, being a boy, should not be calico. This detail keeps throwing me out of the story!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous
I loved this story, Jeremy is so funny and Adrian is perfect for him. I love the way supernatural world is explained and the action and romance was perfect for me. I won't spoil the story with details but I loved this book.
