Return All: A Scorching Second Chance romance (Playing For Love Book 2) Kindle Edition
A sweet and deliciously kinky Second Chance, First Love romance by critically acclaimed author Eve Dangerfield.

After Derek abandoned her, Mara ran away to reinvent herself. Ten years later, she’s a successful businesswoman in her own right with a designer wardrobe, an adorable puppy, and ONE unbreakable rule: No dating. Ever. That is until she crosses paths with her handsome brute of an ex-lover…
Derek is resolute. Come hell or high water, Mara will be his again. He dons a suit and gives her an illicit request straight out of her wildest fantasies. But will she agree to his indecent proposal? And will she stay after it’s completed?

About the author

Eve Dangerfield’s novels have been described as ‘genre-defying,’ ‘insanely hot’ and ‘the defibrillator contemporary romance needs right now’ and not just by those who might need bone marrow one day… OTHER PEOPLE! She lives in Melbourne with her beautiful family and can generally be found making a mess.

Derek and Mara were high school sweethearts, the superstar Jock, and the nerdy wallflower. But, then Derek graduated and took off to another city to make it big in football (which I assume was actual soccer since this took place in Australia), and being a young stupid boy…got sidetracked by the fame, fortune, and other women. He never even broke up with Mara. This immediately set me against Derek. What will happen when they accidentally run into each other 10 years later?
Derek, I enjoy a good possessive alphahole, but Derek came off more like an entitled manwhore. We don't really get to see the real Derek, what drove him, and why he is the way he is, until late in the story, and by then, I was a little frosty. But, as his thoughts and secrets were revealed, I began to warm up to him.
Mara was full of secrets, which made it difficult for me to comprehend where she was coming from and why she was acting the way she was. However, as her secrets were unveiled and I got the big picture, the story took on a completely different feel.
Return All had a lot of tension, conflict, and secrets, which I didn't anticipate from a Daddy book, and in my opinion, the struggle and secrets overwhelmed the romance; I was more interested in discovering the secrets than in the characters reconciling. With that said, the last quarter of the book transformed my thoughts about the characters and their connection, and by the conclusion of the book, I was happy with the result and the resolution.
Overall, it was a good book. Return All has an interesting plot and some steamy daddy scenes. If you enjoy second chance daddy romances, you should give this one a shot.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe story of Mara and Derek was fantastical in the best way.
The passion was so strong.
Soulmates finding their way back to each other with some seriously hot, taboo connections.
I want to read it again right now.

This is pretty hard to review, because books like this are so subjective—every book depends on personal taste, but Eve Dangerfield’s books seem to more than others. That being said, here are my very subjective thoughts.
The Plot:
I’ll admit that, going in, the plot wasn’t too big of a concern. I expected a second chance romance, and I definitely received it. There was a perfect blend of plot and spice, and Eve Dangerfield once again delivers on the kink. This, here, is where subjectivity is such a big issue: a lot of my enjoyment of these scenes was because of my personal taste in kinks, and even then some scenes took it a bit too far for me. All I can say is definitely make sure you know what you’re getting into; for instance, if you’re not into D/s or daddy kink, definitely not the book for you!
Although the pacing was fine, I just wasn’t able to enjoy this as much as I wanted to. There was almost too much plot to Return All, in my opinion—there was so much conflict from every side when I really just expected a fun and sexy romance, but that’s a matter of expectations as much as it is taste. With so many conflicts, it seemed like some of the more major issues between Derek and Mara were resolved too quickly. The leftover feelings from their past just magically made every problem go away, and what conversations were had didn’t feel totally sufficient to me.
The Characters:
This is where my rating really drops. In the beginning, Derek comes across as too intense and too controlling, to the point where it passes sexy and goes into ‘making me want to fist fight’ territory. He’s possessive to the point where I sometimes actively rooted against the couple, particularly when it came to Derek’s reaction to Mara having previous sexual partners while he’d had an endless string of women for the past decade. Mara started out as a very strong character, and generally speaking she was very well written and well rounded, but in my opinion she forgave Derek too easily again and again.
On the flip side, one of the things I liked the most was how willing characters were to call Derek on his shit, starting with side characters and ending with Mara herself. While, ultimately, she forgives him quickly, I loved watching Mara tell him what needed to change if they were going to work again.
The Writing:
Overall, I’m a big fan of the author’s writing style, and having read other books by Dangerfield I’m happy to say this is equally well written. There seemed to be some scenes missing in a few places—something that may be fixed before publication—so some transitions felt abrupt and disjointed. There were missing details or moments that left me confused. But in the grand scheme, there weren’t too many, and they weren’t too major.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2021Format: KindleIt is my first Eve Dangerfield book and it was quite a change, the way she writes intrigued me and as I began to enter the story I was more and more hooked, it was impossible to put it down
.
Mara left her past behind, stopped waiting for her first love and over the years reinvented herself into a strong, successful and independent woman, the least she expects is to meet Derek after so many years and that he would look at her as if not a minute had passed
.
Derek can't believe that after so many years he finds Mara again and despite his crazy sex life he is willing to put everything aside and do everything possible to get her back.
.
What Derek wants is very different from what Mara wants and finally there is a writer who does justice to what a woman who achieved so much wants, Dangerfield gives a unique nuance to Mara, reclaiming her own identity without neglecting her insecurities and the pain of her past, she owns it and does not change it for anything or anyone
.
In this book you will find a strong, independent and powerful woman. An alpha deportist man who has a lot to learn and give up to achieve what he wants and all that in the beautiful Australia. A second chance romance where the power is totally equal and leaves you wishing that both characters meet and get their happy ending
.
Trigger Warning, there are bdsm and role play scenes that are very well written and perfectly intertwine with trust, respect to grow the relationship between both characters in a smooth and perfect way
.
My first Eve Dangerfield but for sure no the last. I really enjoyed reading it and I can't wait to read the next one

4.0 out of 5 stars Great read
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseA spicy second chance romance. A little bit angsty, romantic and very spicy. Loved every word, and would love to see Mara's wardrobe. I do wish we saw more of the romance in their teens.

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally shipping Derek and Mara ♥️
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseEve Dangerfield had written another great book where her characters genuinely grow up to get their HEA. This is a fantastic second-chance story, where Derek and Mara learn how to choose each other.
As usual, Eve has written scorching hot sex and genuine emotion, with characters that somehow seem relatable no matter how larger-than-life they appear on the page.
Loved the check-in with Byron and Beth and can't wait for Willow's story in this series.

Format: KindleVerified PurchaseEve Dangerfield, you've done it again!
This book is amazing! I powered through this book, which is an achievement if you consider it normally takes me weeks/months/years to finish a book. But I could not put this one down.
It is so sexy (like immediately and consistently).
And the relationship dynamic between Derek and Mara is so sweet.
Phenomenal book.
I couldn't recommend this enough!
