Born and raised in Germany, Cassandra attended business school in her hometown before immigrating to America when she was only eighteen.     I really enjoyed this book...well parts. I had to flip past the violence but the rest of it was amazing. Xander did not see himself as being worthy of love. Ella (mouse) shows him differently. It was a rocky road but it was a wonderful story...a love story...an unusual one...but a love story none the less... Please read this. It is dark so if you have triggers you might want to pass...but if not its a great read.

    This one was a lot darker then the other two books and I'm still on the fence about how I feel about Xander, this was a cruel man and yes a monster at times, I really wanted Ella to have more of a back bone towards him, but I can understand why she couldn't she needed to find her sister Violet, Xander was definitely abusive to Ella in a lot of ways, just because your a scared little man that can't come to terms about your feelings for a woman the answer act like a monster. He did rescue her twice so there's that, but still. I loved Keira in this book what a backbone she grew I think because Damon let her grow, you could see that even Damon was getting fed up over how he was treating Ella. In the end it seems that he was a completely different character I think he became to soft at the end. Can't wait for Violets and Ivan's story, and I hope to see how all the couples and there babies are doing.

    In all honesty I’m not really sure how I feel about this story. I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it either. It wasn’t badly written and both authors create a very vivid world. I could see the environment these characters were in very clearly. I guess my problem is that this felt really watered down. It wasn’t dark. The subject matter of organized crime, forced prostitution, human trafficking, violent people and acts-all dark. But that alone doesn’t make a story dark. It’s all about the characters and Xander was definitely a conflicted man, but his inner dialogue made him appear like a marshmallow. The dialogue just didn’t register as authentic either. I didn’t buy it.

    Also since I didn’t read the other stories I didn’t really feel like there was enough backstory about their family history or their crime unit. What did they do for a living? Who did they control? These things make their dynamic more interesting. Perhaps if I read the first two stories I’d be more clued in. But it’s a stand-alone, so there should be more pertaining information.
    And Ella aka Mouse was super weak. As if being her younger sister’s guardian for so long didn’t infuse a stronger sense of grit and strength. It’s like she was totally cool with Xander making the rules. Like yay I don’t have to think anymore!!!
    Anyway I was able to finish this pretty fast. Not sure if I’m even interested to read about Damon and his wife’s story or Ella’s sister’s story.
