Aldous Huxley (1894-1963) is the author of the classic novels Island, Eyeless in Gaza, and The Genius and the Goddess, as well as such critically acclaimed nonfiction works as The Devils of Loudun, The Doors of Perception, and The Perennial Philosophy. Born in Surrey, England, and educated at Oxford, he died in Los Angeles.

    Heute angekommen und gleich angefangen zu lesen :) das erste Buch von diesem Autor. İch mag seine Schreibweise.Es liest sich gut.Das Buchformat hatte ich so noch nie.Ehrlich gesagt finde ich es sehr praktisch,mal ein interessantes Leseerlebnis :)

    Ich dachte vorher, Gerhard Polt sei böse - aber er wirkt wie ein Pfadfinder im Vergleich zu Huxley.
    Das Buch ist die krasseste Zukunftsvision, die ich je lesen durfte und der Autor ist ein wahrer Prohpet.
    Er hat sehr genau verstanden, wie Menschen funktionieren und seine Zukunftsvision - veröffentlicht 1932 im Original - ist im Grunde eine Beschreibung unserer heutigen Zeit.
    Wir können Soma durch Smartphone sowie Netflix ersetzen und erleben heute vor allem Menschen, die den auf oberflächliches Erleben, unverbindlichen (promiskuitiven) Sex, zu eigenständigem Denken sowie Empfinden eines tiefen, verbindlichen Gefühls völlig unfähigen Reproduktions-Lemmingen bis aufs Haar gleichen.
    Die von Huxley als bitterböse Persiflage auf Gleichmachung und der zur Entstehungszeit des Buches laufenden Auseinandersetzung mit der, durch vor allem die Nazis, glorifizierten Eugenik zeichnet einen vereinheitlichten Menschen, den wir heute überall sehen - auch wenn sie heute zumindest äußerlich noch unterschiedlich aussehen.
    Sicher nur eine Frage der Zeit.
    Und Huxley hat sogar ziemlich präzise vorausgesagt, wann diese Entwicklung Realität werden könnte.
    Drei bis vier Generationen.
    Drei Generationen weiter ist der Horror Realität und so "normal", das ihn nur wenige sehen.
    Erzählerisch brillant und mit leichtfüßig englischem Humor führt der Autor durch diese Prognose, die auf den ersten Blick grotesk erscheinen will und dann, wenn wir uns umsehen, ein Spiegel unserer heutigen Gesellschaft ist.
    Fast könnte man meinen, Regierung, Medien und das so genannte Bildungssystem haben seither Huxleys Buch als Bedienungsanleitung für die Konditionierung heutiger Menschen verwendet.
    Die Mechanismen der Massenmanipulation, die er beschreibt, sind heute ebenfalls der Normalfall.
    Und wie er es beschrieben hat, muss man die Menschen nicht zwingen - heute muss man ihnen ihre Drogen - Smartphone und stumpfe, inhaltslose Zerstreuung - mit Gewalt entreißen.

    Ein fantastisches Buch, das jeder gelesen haben sollte.
    Allerdings müsste es auch jeder verstehen und da wird es ... schwierig.

    Die Welt und die Charaktere werden gut und detailiert aufgebaut.
    Das Buch gibt sehr schöne und Gesellschaftskritische Ansätze, die nach dem Lesen überdacht werden können.
    Die Welt und die Story hätte ruhig auf zwei Bücher verteilt werden können, da einige Punkte nur angeschnitten wurden, die definitiv mehr Aufmerksamkeit bekommen hätten sollen.
    Das ist aber nur stöhnen auf hohem Niveau!
