About the author

Vicky Whedbee was born and raised in Daytona Beach, Florida, where she resided until her 40's when she relocated to San Mateo, Florida, where she currently resides. An avid reader, she wrote her first novel over a period of years as a labor of love and fulfillment of a life long dream that began with the encouragement of her English teacher in high school.
With a diagnosis of cancer for her dad, she decided to become an independent author and published her novel on her own in order to present a finished product to her father before his demise. She was in the process of reading said novel, "Things He Hadn't Told Her", to him at the time of his passing.
She wrote her second novel "Sarah's Song", which was a collaboration with her father set in the time of his childhood in the rural Appalachian mountains, with notes taken prior to his demise. Both books have been met with stellar 5-STAR reviews on Amazon & Goodreads, as well as awarded the 5-star review seal from Reader's Favorite.
After numerous requests, she wrote a sequel to Sarah's Song, titled Sarah's Home, which could also be read as a stand-alone. It, too, is being received with love and 5-STAR reviews.
She is currently working on her next novel.

Sarah’s Home by Vicky Whedbee is a heartwarming story set in the Appalachian Mountains during a simpler time. It strongly focuses on family and God. The story contains many surprises, a lot of joy, and a sprinkling of tragedy. It will keep the reader connected throughout the story. It is very well written—a must-read.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAmazing story about rural life, tackling a number of very difficult topics, especially involving acceptance of native Indians. Extremely emotional, and the author's superb writing pulled at my heart strings. Multiple story strings run in parallel...real three-dimensional characters talking in colloquial language. The story is long, but it doesn't matter, this is a book you can't put down until the end.
I had previously read Sarah's Song so I was familiar with most of the characters.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2019Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI have read all 3 of Vicky's books and find her to be a rare talent. This latest, is excellent and insightful. It picks up where Sarah's Song left off. The first part is a synopsis of the first one. Vicky's characters are flawed, and real with heart and warmth. You can "see" them as surely as if they were in front of you. She made me chuckle and cry, but mostly she surprised me with twists that I didn't see coming. For someone who has grown up in the South, you probably have the language used by the people in this part of the country. Now I can't wait until she writes another book. You should read Sarah's Song first. It gives you all of the hardships endured by these wonderful people
- Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseSarah's Home carries the theme of unconditional caring and giving to others even in hardship. It's a home with a heart and a door that stands wide open. The story delivers a timely message for this time. Author Vicky Whedbee creates an ensemble of characters that possess a little quirk or bit of zest here and there to add dimension to the novel. Sarah's Home is truly driven by the cast, as the reader eavesdrops on their lives and is all the better for it. The ups and downs of day-to-day life in a rural mountain setting present a fascinating step back in time. Just the excitement around getting electricity brought to their area leaves a thoughtful reader grateful for what we're guilty of taking for granted so often. The author captures the essence of the past perfectly. She delivers to the reader a story that lingers long after you place the book on your keep shelf. Well done, Vicky Whedbee, well done.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 23, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseIn the ’50s, the ill-treatment of Millicent Thornton’s adopted son motivated her to provide shelter and refuge to the needy and abused. As a tribute to her passed away friend, Millicent builds Sarah’s Home, recovery, and rest harbor for those in need. What follows is upheaval and a lot of twists and turns.
Author Vicky Whedbee’s looks deeply into the world she creates. The tales she tells stay with you for a long while after. Filled with dysfunction yet comfort. Laced with troubles yet wisdom, they are inhabited with people and situations that are familiar to most readers.
Once again, author Vicky Whedbee’s picturesque writing describes the nature, set, and existence of east Tennessee hill country. Great story just like the first book Sarah’s Song.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI really enjoyed reading Sarah’s Song, so I was looking forward to reading the second book in the series, Sarah’s Home, which continues the saga of Hurricane Hollow, Tennessee, in the year 1956. In this book, Millicent Thornton works to establish what we would call today a domestic violence shelter so she can provide a safe haven for anyone that needs it. Little does she know that this would upend and change her entire life and the lives of her loved ones, especially because of one of the residents who comes to stay at the shelter. As in Sarah’s Song, Whedbee does a remarkable job of painting a picture of the time and place she writes about and the people inside that world. You will find yourself getting caught up in the plot and wanting to read the novel to the very end! Also, Sarah’s Home delves into t some important themes that transcend the story itself.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI absolutely LOVED Sarah’s Song & was curious if the sequel would live up to my lofty expectations. Well, the second book is even better... I couldn’t put it down!! What a beautifully written series. I can’t say enough good things about these two books. Whedbee is definitely gifted at writing page-turning novels with fascinating twists in the storyline that I didn’t see coming. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great book by Ms. Whedbee!
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis is the sequel of Book 1 Sarah's Song and, although it can be read as a standalone, it also deepens the plot and adds to the story told in book 1.
We are presented to new characters that join the story of the Jenkin's family with their traumatic pasts and come to Sarah's Home to heal.
The author weaves the story with humor, hurt, pain, love, suspense, and an unexpected turnaround.
A great read, just like the other books by this author: Sarah's Song and Things He Hadn't Told Her.
I look forward to reading more books from Ms. Whedbee.
