Aina S. Erice se enamoró de las plantas por culpa de la literatura y su amor a las palabras. Se licenció en biología y cursó una maestría de especialización en plantas mediterráneas, pero no cree en la actual división entre ciencias y letras, y su curiosidad voraz la ha llevado a interesarse por todo tipo de disciplinas -desde la filogenia y la biogeografía hasta la lingüística, la antropología o la historia del arte-. Ha dedicado más de una década a investigar y divulgar sobre etnobotánica: el tapiz de ricas y variadas relaciones que hemos entablado con las plantas.

{EN} Aina S. Erice is a writer & biologist turned independent researcher with an (occasionally inconvenient) overabundance of curiosity, and a penchant for transmitting ideas. Her current focus of interest is the human engagement with nature, trying to answer the question: “What can our relationships with nature reveal about ourselves — as individuals, as a society, as a species?”

Born and bred on a small Mediterranean island, she currently lives with her husband, dividing her time between Spain and Italy. She loves and enjoys so many things, she won’t bore you with a full list (on which one may find, in no particular order: languages and words, anthropology, art and design, history, reading, cooking, coffee, and trying to understand the human psyche —just to mention a few).

She is a staunch defender of the need to join rigorous research along with poetic, beautiful language to tickle the reader’s imagination; and of the power of good storytelling to change the world for the better.
