    This is not the YA (Young Adult) or rock star romance I was expecting. Nor would I label it as mystery/suspense although there were twists and turns that I did not see coming (and I’m rarely surprised by a ‘romance’ novel). Zeke is a fascinating mix of mature and needy (and talented). The author does a fantastic job building the chemistry between the characters (and not getting bogged down in multiple long sex scenes). There was a bit of repetition and telling rather than showing in the first half (Zeke’s past life and trust issues), and the action picked up in the second (and I couldn’t put it down as it approached the climax). There were no complex ‘bad guys/girls’ in this one; the bad were pure evil. This was an unusual read that I really enjoyed. 4.5 STARS

    I normally judge a book from the first chapter or so to see if I want to read it or not, mainly because there are so many books out there, why waste time with something that doesn't grab me from the start. So, I almost put it down, but then kept going for some reason, and am very glad I did. I really enjoyed this book. It was like nothing I've read before, a very different type of story which had everything from romance to evil. I found the author's writing easy and real and creative. Lots of twists and turns and things i wasn't expecting at all. I definitely recommend this book.

    I really enjoyed the book. My only issue is the cover. Why is it a normal guy on the cover? I found one other cover available that looks like Zekes album cover is described, and that one is perfect for a book cover. Otherwise, the book is good.

    I wasn't expecting half of what was in this book. Freak is not your usual rock star book, in fact I don't think that is the correct genre, but no matter, the story was unique. Zeke was an amazing character, a recluse and song writing savant however that's not what makes him special. Mia is originally sent to meet Zeke for nefarious purposes but a tidal wave of secrets, lies and betrayal soon follow. If you like genre mash-ups then give this one a try

    I'm so iffy with this author!
    I like her stories but the writing gets repetitive and long winded.
    I was ready for the story to wrap up when I realized I was at 20%.
    Trudging through some mundane bits, the mystery of Zeke starts to really unfold.
    Over all the story is good. I am interested in the next book.
    I appreciate that her books are interconnected standalones without a cliffhanger.
    Though I might try, it is highly unlikely I will ever finish any of her series'. The pace gets to me every time.

    This was Mia and Zeke's love story. The main focus was on Zeke with Mia bringing light and warmth into an otherwise lonely man's life, but the story dragged on in too many places and I found myself speed reading and flipping pages to get to the next part. It was only so-so.
