- Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2017I just finished Peter Mulroney's latest book, A Deadly Game of Hangman, a Stella Bruno mystery. The setting is Australia where the author resides. Stella and her partner Brian are working on the hanging of a young man and must first determine whether it is a suicide or a murder. The clues lead them to a small Shakespearean theater group. Mulraney's characters include a likeable young fellow named John, as well as the theater owner, his partner, and other members of the troupe. This is a short read but a captivating one. As I neared the end, I had planned to finish reading it the following day, but I couldn't put it down until I finished the book. I recommend A Deadly Game of Hangman to all mystery fans. I love mysteries that take place in other countries and Mulraney never disappoints. I anxiously await the next book in the Stella Bruno series.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2017I really enjoyed this book. I had the privilege of reading this book as an ARV for a honest review. The story involves a small group of amateur actors and the auditions and sometimes the rejection to be assigned a part in a yearly Shakespearean play. The disappointment of those few who were not given a part is is forgotten when those not chosen for a part work together in the background to make sure the production is a success. As actors, always looking for the next big part, they're always searching for the next opportunity to win the best role. When two of them are offered the opportunity to try out for a secret part in a secret play at a bigger venue, it may be the last role they play.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2017A young man has been found hanging from a tree. Was it suicide or murder? A few weeks later another body is found. What is going on? Is there a serial killer? Turns out both were involved in a theater group. Stella wants to arrest the killer before he strikes again. Can she do it?
This story is well written and thought out. It is short but holds your interest.
I voluntarily received a free book from the author and I'm voluntrarily posting a review. My opinion is entirely my own.
