Summer Secrets at Wildflower Farm (Skimmerdale Book 1) Kindle Edition
A lot can happen during one summer in Skimmerdale.
Eden Robinson never imagined, when she accepted a job working for rock star Cain Carmichael, that it would lead her to the Yorkshire Dales and a job as a nanny and housekeeper. Yet the summer finds her living on Wildflower Farm, caring for the three children of farmer, Eliot Harland, under the assumed name of Cain's wild child daughter, Honey.
A fish out of water, Eden struggles to cope with life in the country, which seems to revolve around sheep, country shows, and the vicar's wife's domination of the cake tent. All this while dealing with a jealous family friend, a charming blackmailer, and keeping up the pretence that she's Honey Carmichael.
But when Eden falls for widower Eliot, things get even more complicated. The man she loves has no idea who she really is, and with the entire charade in danger of collapsing it's possible she's left it too late to tell him.
Can she escape the Honey trap in time, or will this sheep farmer realise he's had the wool pulled over his eyes?
A witty, romantic, family drama, set in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.

About the author

Sharon Booth writes cosy romances, as warm and welcoming as a mug of hot chocolate, served in delicious, small-town settings, stirred with family relationships, close friendships, and tight-knit communities, and topped with a swirl of humour.
They're also available with a scoop of the supernatural, and/or sprinkles of magic and mystery!
Contemporary romance fans should check out the Kearton Bay, Skimmerdale, Home for Christmas, Bramblewick, Moorland Heroes, The Other Half, and Tuppenny Bridge series.
If you like a bit of magic and mystery, Sharon also has a series of non-spicy, light-hearted paranormal romances, The Witches of Castle Clair, which features the talented St Clairs, their quirky familiars, and quite a bit of cake. They offer lots of magical mishaps, family dramas, and new twists on myths and legends.
New for 2025! Ghosts of Rowan Vale is a brand-new series set in the stunning Cotswolds. Cosy contemporary romance with a dash of ghostly goings-on! Kindred Spirits at Harling Hall, the first in the series, is out now.
Sharon lives in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. When she's not writing she likes reading, watching old films, Gilmore Girls and Doctor Who, or researching her family tree. She loves horses, being by the sea or a river, pretty villages, and crisps. She admits to being shamefully prone to crushes on fictional heroes.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2017Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWhen Eden is blackmailed into taking her employer's daughter's place in the Yorkshire Dales, she didn't expect the sheep farmer to be so handsome. Eliot is a widower and needs someone to take care of his three adorable children for the summer. He doesn't expect Eden who is masquerading as Honey, the rich spoiled daughter of her rock star employer. Eden has to play the part of Honey who is off hiding her affair with a married M.P. from her parents.
Eliot and Eden are a lovely couple, and the three children are the cutest things ever. Their Yorkshire friends and neighbors are also interesting; Ms. Booth has a way of making her secondary characters very real and integral to the story. I was less enamored with Honey and her subplot, but her father Cain, the aging rock star, is a hoot. All I could picture was Bill Nighly in Love Actually every time he appears in the story.
Another lovely book and the start to a new series. I was worried as I think I've read everything out by this author, but then I see she has a new series starting in August so I just have to wait a few weeks.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2016Format: KindleThe stunning Yorkshire Dales, a gorgeous brooding young farmer, and lots of secrets. What's not to love about this fabulous novel by Sharon Booth?
I loved Sharon's Kearton Bay series and had been eagerly awaiting the third book, so I had high hopes for this new series and its move from the Yorkshire Coast to the Dales. It absolutely didn't disappoint.
When her life unexpectedly collides with that of spoilt rich brat, Honey, whilst rescuing her from a potentially tricky situation, Eden finds herself employed by the Carmichael family with one main purpose: to keep Honey out of trouble and, more specifically, to keep her away from attached/engaged/married men. That's easier said than done. Honey thrives on trouble and being the "other woman". She also thrives on winding up her parents and knows that her affair with a married MP is going to wind them up big time. When her former rock star father, Cain, finds out about the affair, he decides that the only way to keep Honey away from her married lover is to banish her to the Yorkshire Dales to spend the summer helping out on the farm of a widowed relative who she's never met and never wants to meet. Reluctantly, Honey agrees to her exile; but only because she's blackmailed Eden to take her place while she spends the summer exactly how she'd originally planned, in the arms of her married man. Eden doesn't like the deception, but doesn't have a choice. She prepares to act and dress like Honey and play stroppy housekeeper to 'Old MacDonald' and his grown up kids in the back of beyond. Only he's not that old, and his kids aren't that grown up, and the back of beyond turns out to be really quite beautiful.
I LOVED this book! Eden is a brilliant character. Her battle between trying to behave like the little madam Honey is meant to be, and her own carrying personality whilst she becomes enchanted by the family and their home was engaging. Speaking of engaging, Eliot (the farmer) was certainly that!
There are several twists in the book, a few of which I certainly didn't see coming. Of course, I'm not going to give any spoilers away so you'll have to read it for yourself to find out what they are.
I now have a dilemma. Am I hoping Sharon will bring out book 3 of the Kearton Bay series next or book 2 of the Skimmerdale series. Actually, scrub that, I want both. Now!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2016Format: KindleEden lands herself a job within a family who live by their own rules and by a twist of fate travels to Yorkshire in the place of Honey, the daughter of the family. Once there she assumes the identity of the outrageous Honey, but soon finds the warmth of father and widower Eliot and the sorrow of his past means that Eden has to reveal her true self, but the effects of the lie she’s lived threaten not just her happiness, but the whole family. This story, set against the backdrop of sheep farming in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales is a must read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Did not enjoy the first few chapters
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseDid not enjoy the first few chapters, but loved it once Eden arrived in Skimmerdale. I thought that the characters of Honey and Cain were too unpleasant to make me feel any interest in them. My other minor criticism is that Honey was too weak, allowing herself to be blackmailed , but then I suppose here would have been no story if she had had more strength of character. Still a most enjoyable read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wildflower Farm
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseOh so many secrets and twists and turns! What a wonderful plot and characters. Eden eventually gets her happy ever after but only after plenty of ups and downs, with a bit of humour thrown in. What a great read!
