Romance Across the Spectrum.

I’m often awkwardly silent or, if the topic interests me, a chronic rambler. In other words, I can discuss writing forever and ever. Fiction, in particular. The love story—while a huge draw and constantly present—is secondary for me, because there’s so much more to writing romance fiction than just making two (or more) people fall in love and have hot sex.

There’s a world to build, characters to develop, interests to create, and a topic or two to research thoroughly.

Every book is a challenge for me, an opportunity to learn something new, and a puzzle to piece together. I want my characters to come to life, and the only way I know to do that is to give them substance—passions, history, goals, quirks, and strong opinions—and to let them evolve.

I want my men and women to be relatable. That means allowing room for everyday problems and, for lack of a better word, flaws. My characters will never be perfect.

Wait…this was supposed to be about me, not my writing.

I'm a writey person who loves to write. Always wanderlusting, twitterpating, kinking, cooking, baking, and geeking. There’s time for hockey and family, too. But mostly, I just love to write.

    I did NOT expect to love this! I hardly expected to like it but that's the magic of books for ya!

    Let me tell you poly, open and anything more than MM relationships almost never work for me and I never take risks in starting a book with them. But here, here everything clicked! KC and Noa's past, KC and Lucian's friendship, Noa and Cameron's relationship, Lucian and Noa's past, Lucian and Cameron's past even KC and Cameron's past of scening together. Little pieces of a puzzle that when brought together they made up a bigger picture of them working as a four-some. Or you know Doll Parts!

    I think that was why they worked for me. Because there were threads between these men that were pulling them together, there were feelings to be built upon and a solid foundation. Respect, honesty, openness, knowing one another and respecting their needs, being there for them and supporting. All that while having established boundaries especially since KC and Noa when in scenes they became all about the pleasure and wanting others to play with (OMG how hot was the scene with Greer!!! 🔥 🔥🔥 🥵🥵🥵) sexually as well. A part of them that Lucian and Cameron know and respect but separate from their relationship of 4.

    I greatly enjoyed Noa and Cameron together, a HAWWWWT scene of Lucian with Noa and anything Noa and KC called for a cold shower afterwards because it was just sizzling!

    We got some Cam and Lucian from Noa's POV and a hot 4 some scene... BUT Cameron's and Lucian's POVs were missing from the story and I wanted more between Cameron and KC than just a comment from Lucian on what they were doing when they were alone and a recap from KC's musings. The last 2 chapters from Lucian's POV were just too generic. Nothing in exploring his relationship with Cameron and I wanted more from that. Yes there's another book coming about those 4 and I'm hoping that we'll see more of Cameron and Lucian's POVs and their development of their relationship and kinks, since KC and Noa have patched up their relationship and are in a good place (although who knows what wrench in the proceedings will be thrown when Noa's mother learns about them), but the start of them will always be missing... unless Cara throws a nice big prologue for them like she did here with Noa... I mean I need to know more about that kitchen scene and Cam's scene with KC in the cabin... Although I hope she won't take it a couple of years back when Lucian was still with who he was (I don't remember the name) or when Lucian propositioned a casual thing with Cam. We know those things, no need to recap them.

    So yeah! Color me surprised with how much I loved this! Can't wait for more!!

    This book is a very different type of story from the previous installments in this series, but it definitely follows the same theme Dee laid out from the very beginning. Love and kink can be completely entwined in a “perfect” relationship, but that doesn’t mean everything always aligns properly in real life – even the relationships themselves. Part of what I love most about this series is that the community established around House Mclean is the aspirational bit that makes reading romance books so much fun. Everything else about the characters and their dynamics leans harder into realism (while still being compelling) (and super sexy).

    For such complicated relationship combinations, Dee spins a relatively low-angst tale by setting up the history and potential between all the characters through appropriate use of prologue. Then, she starts the main story line and lets readers enjoy the bits where they slam together instead. In the same vein, this book probably could have been four times as long if every bit of the interpersonal relationships were explored from all angles. Instead, the story flows through in waves, showing us the full scope of the changing world now to be shared by Noa, Cam, KC, and Lucian in a lovely mix of spicy scenes and poignant context. Lack of angst does not mean lack of tension, and I thoroughly enjoyed the way Dee crafts the narrative around the way these four men build toward a stronger future together.

    This book can be read as a stand-alone, but plenty of cameos are made by previous heroes of this series. I especially enjoyed seeing the intricate Game plans being stalled once again (poor River) by a certain collection of delightful brats. Dee’s knowledge of the best way to portray kink is a pretty cool element of this series, but where this writer always shines is in her excellent depiction of all characters, both primary and secondary.

    As much as I loved everything Dee published in 2021, I’m beyond thrilled that it looks like 2022 will return to this particular world for a time. The Games are a ride I won’t tire of anytime soon.

    I held off reading this book because I saw it was about 4 characters. So many books that try to do just 3 characters end up a tangled, clichéd mess, let alone one with 4. But I finally gave it a try and am pleasantly surprised.

    It wasn't jumping into a new POV each chapter and the clichéd: X was shy, Y was brooding, etc. We got to stay in on POV for an extended period of time where I could understand who the person was. Each character was authentic and fleshed out and flawed. I could see what attracted Noa to KC and Cam to Lucian. I will say once the 4 got together there were barely any romantic scenes with Noa and Cam, but I actually appreciate the author focusing rather than trying to give each relationship equal time on the page. I noticed the absence but appreciated what I did get to see. The way they managed to form their kinky family was unique and fun. I'm glad I gave this book a chance. It was fun and sexy and excellently done for the amount of people in a dynamic together.

    I liked Noah and Cameron together, they were so sweet and I kind of missed them when they found their Dom's.
    The dynamic between the couples was good but it irked me a lot that when big things happened it showed from the wrong pov.
    Noah argued with KC and we got it from Cameron's pov. We missed out on a major change between KC and Cam because we only got told about it after it happened.
    I get that it's difficult writing with many characters in mind, but it was done the wrong way here I felt.

    I am loving this series so much. This book was no exception. It was funny, witty, and of course filled with fun kïnks to delve into!

    Noa and KC have had a tense few years, KC was married to his mum and they became very close. Then things go south and KC leaves and they don’t see each other for 3 years - much to Noas heart break.

    But he meets Cam, another sub, and they get on so well and start dating while looking for the right Dom for them - though they both have men they are obsessed with..

    Noa and Cam are so sweet and excellent together. Adorable. Finally getting their Doms, KC and Lucien, just makes the perfect poly quad! They are smokin hot together and all their many kïnks keeps the story very interesting.
