5.0 out of 5 stars Must Read!

This book is just amazing!! It has a strong female character, a strong male interest, and a plot that just keeps getting juicier. Ivy has been taking care of herself and her sister for several years now. Things change for her when she finds trouble during her daily run. She realizes her life is so much more than she thought and starts bracing her true self with Crispin's help. Crispin is the typical protective and possessive guy but Ivy is his soft spot. This story was so captivating and I can't wait for the next book.

Crispin is the vampire lord who takes the heroine Ivy under his protection, trains her hunter abilities and falls in love for the first time in his 2000 years. Keeping his mate safe from relentless revenant attacks while investigating the reasons why has become a dangerous undertaking. Intrigue and treachery are everywhere. I am really loving this storyline and anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.

R. Sullins is a USA Today bestselling author, an International Bestseller, and a KDP All-Star.

Family is number one in her life, followed by her menagerie of pets. Be patient with her, she’s not very good at peopling.

She is a lover of fairies, tattoos, and coffee cups, has a vast collection of them all, and receives a glare from her teenager every time she brings home a new cup to squeeze into the cabinet.

When she’s not writing, you will probably be able to find her reading a book. But, no matter what genre you find her immersed in, there is always one thing that her favorite stories have in common…you will never, ever find her reading any book with cheating. So rest assured! She will never write one, either.

A bit of drama, a dash of spice, a little bit of innocence, and a large dab of alpha is what make up the recipe for her stories.

    Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
    Spice: 🌶 🌶 2/5

This has such a fantastic concept to vampires and hunters. Normally in books hunters went after all kinds of supernaturals, but with this plot the hunters only went after failed vampire turns. There was so much potential for this book. It had original ideas that I rarely see anymore. I was extremely excited to see where it all went.

The story fell a bit flat for me, and I had a hard time finishing it. The plot line was slow going. I had no idea were it was going most of the time. I caught my self rereading time lines because it jumped frequently. I thought we’d never get to experience the romance between Crispin and Ivy either. There was tons of fluff, and at this point insignificant drama. It was 50% before Crispin just declared Ivy was his and now they’ll will be in a relationship. I didn’t feel the slow burn between them. I missed the tension building between them by how it jumped from a few weeks to months.

What I did like was the how sweet Crispin was to Ivy. I’ve always been a sucker for fated mates. Even though the fated mate bond weak I still enjoyed it. Crispin took care of her in so many different ways that Ivy needed, and had her back 100%. My favorite part though was how Crispin POV was written in 3rd person. I enjoyed just being in Ivy first person view.

I felt like there wasn’t enough character development. I was just craving something that was missing in the story. The ending has me content too. I can envision them being happy, and everything working out.

I think I would have given it 4 stars had it not been the way Ivy lost her virginity. All he did was stick fingers in there and make her bleed? I felt like saying fingers taking her innocents is like saying a tampon takes your virginity.

This was a great story and I loved the characters. The plot was a good one but it just seemed to be lacking something. Don’t get me wrong, I totally enjoyed it a lot and can’t wait to start the next one in the series so I do recommend it as a good read.

After reading Lovely Darkness by this author, I had to read more. I'm so glad I did!

    “You are mine, Hunter.”

This book is about Ivy and Crispin. Ivy has had a rough few years. Her parents passed in a car accident and her sister became a paraplegic- but she didn't let that bring her down. Her sister hates her for causing the accident.

Crispin is a vampire, in fact he's the second most powerful vampire in the world. He meets Ivy one night when she's out running and gets attacked by ghouls. He saves her and realizes WHO and WHAT she is. She's a Hunter. A very powerful one.

    "The Hunter was being hunted."

This is the first book in the trilogy. There was a lot of information and people and names- but I loved the story so I pushed through the confusion. This book is solely about Ivy and how she becomes a Hunter. I hope the next book has more sweet moments between the main characters. There was spice in this book, but not a ton.

I placed my hand on his stubbly cheek. “Thank you,” I whispered, looking into the calm gray of his eyes.
He pressed his cheek further into my hand as he asked, “For what, baby?”
I pressed a soft kiss to his lips and whispered, “For you.”

    LIKES:
-the height difference! Over a foot :o
-the action! there's a ton of it!
-the plot. it's very original, I don't think I've ever read a vampire book like this.
-Ivy's relationship with her sister. I get that throughout the whole book her sister hates her- but I like the way Ivy handles it.
-Crispin's love for Ivy is so endearing
-Crispin's celibacy once he meets Ivy. He's not a manwh0re but he does enjoy the company of his "feeders" from time to time.

"We need to come to an understanding, my Hunter. This here is the start of us. Truthfully, the night we met was the beginning. I have not been able to so much as look at another woman sexually since I saw you. I didn’t know it then but you were already under my skin. You have only become more important to me since then, watching you grow into yourself and gaining confidence in your abilities. This is meant to be. You are meant to be my mate and I yours.”

    IMPORTANT BITS:
    virgin heroine
age gap- (21h, immortal H at least 2000 years old)
small OW/OM drama but it's not extreme
    no cheating
    safe
    HFN ♡

Ivy is just a normal 21 year old who is trying to survive and look after her paraplegic twin sister who was hurt in a car accident. Her Dad died in the accident but her Mum just… walked away and Ivy never knew why.
Suddenly her life is upheaved and she finds out the supernatural is real. She meets Crispin a master vampire who becomes her mentor and potentially so much more.
This is a great story, with so much depth and description which pulls you into this world.
Be aware that you will need to read the second book straight away because OMG what a way to end this book. Book two is a MUST read!
