Very solid authorized fanfic (praise)
(I like fanfic greatly. I especially like well-edited fanfic. I group ALL the Trek novels into the group of authorized fanfic.)
It's mostly slice of life and events, fits in well with the canon of the series, adds some useful worldbuilding, is better/different than the summary blurb makes it out to be.
Not quite five stars because there's something that it's just not quite evoking in me. *Solid*, not superlative. And since I got it on a 99-cent sale, "solid" is pretty satisfying. Definitely pick it up if you like Trek & it's on sale again.
