A combination of ignorance, superstition and miss-information has lead people to refuse vaccinations that have the potential to wipe certain diseases from the face of our earth. Complacency has led to outbreaks of red measles and chickenpox in Canada, relatively mild in children but serious infections in adults who do not possess immunity. On the other hand small pox kills a high percentage of those infected and the first of two short stories here is set in Bangladesh. The second is a strange little tale told backwards.

I read about the author after I read the book--make sure you don't skip this info! Actually adds to the story and may answer some questions. The story seems to start slowly, and the setting feels as if you are travelling back in time. This is because it is set in India. The twists and turns in the story move you right along, revealing different aspects of the tale. Highly recommend this story--and I look forward to reading more from this author.
