TIMBER: The Mountain Man's Babies Kindle Edition

4.1 out of 5 stars 4,692 ratings

I've been called wild. Dirty. Untamed.
I moved to the woods to get away from the bullsh*t of the city. People there don't understand a man like me.
I work hard, and my hands are as calloused as my heart.
And nothing’s gonna change that.

Then I meet Harper.
A storm brought her to my doorstep, and soon enough I take her in my arms.
And on the floor. And on the table. And in the great outdoors.

But this girl keeps running.
She says she has a problem that a wild man like me can’t fix.
But she’s wrong—I can be everything she needs.
I just have to prove that to her.

Dear Reader,

TIMBER features an untamed man who takes a virgin. Please don't read if you're not ready for hot sex that will make you reach for that vibrator hidden under your pillow. If the batteries are out, your own hand will do.
No shame, babycakes. Enjoy this steamy story! You deserve it.

xo, frankie

I actually enjoyed this bad boy romance. I loved it and would recommend it. Read had many steamy parts to the story and the events were believable. I really enjoyed it and gave it 5 stars. Read it on my KU but bought it to re read. Main things I enjoyed reading in this novel is the growth of the hero in becoming the man the heroine needed. It was really nice ending.

********CAUTION POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD> PLEASE STOP NOW IF YOU DON"T WANT READ ANY SPOILERS>THANKS**********

The hero was no knight in shining armor but he grew on me as story progressed. This guy is man-whore to the 10th degree. However his bad ways got him burned with a barely legal sheriff's daughter so he moved out in the wilderness to get away from the troubles the sheriff was causing him and his business partner.

Heroine is straight arrow, God fearing, Christian woman that just got dumped one week before her wedding. She is humiliated and vulnerable. She is also sheltered and never been out of pastor father and Christian family's view. Her fiancée was also very straight and narrow, they do very little (I mean little) as couple for two years. So when she accidently finds herself in the hero's backyard I can see how she easily gives into her wild side. She says it herself she is vulnerable and hurting, so why not give into your deepest desires. I mean what does she have to lose? She just got dumbed badly in a small, narrow, minded community.

Hero doesn't make it easy either, he was a man-whore after all. This tiger isn't going to change his stripes overnight. So they fall all over each other and next day her ex fiancée comes looking for her because her family called him concerned. Being a "good" Christian man he goes to look for her and tells everyone, jerk, he caught heroine with the hero. Heroine wants some more memories before she leaves, because she knows what she is going back too. Hero is happy to oblige, man-whore that he is only thinks about one thing. Says good bye to her and wishes her well. After all he has had plenty of one night stands and never looked back.

Except, he can't stop thinking about her. He wonders how she is doing. He remembers their night together. I think he even mentions it was the best he ever had. He even has opportunity to be man-whore that he is, but he doesn't even think about it. Not even tempted. But he can't figure it out. Our hero is slow on the uptake, so get ready for long ride on this book.

Heroine comes back, not once but two times before hero mans up. He makes and says several big mistakes. He thinks at one point she means she is going to get an abortion and is behind her. His words are that it is her body so whatever she wants to do he will support it. She is appalled. Her only dream has always been to be a mother. This heroines ambitions go along with her Christian values, she just always wanted to be mother. Gets upset and leaves hero, telling him she doesn't need him. Goes home but her father treats her very badly. Father even goes as far as physically hurt her. She is not open about being pregnant with them and goes to doctor. Finds out she is having multiple babies so she goes back to hero for help again.

He mans up this time. While she was away he was getting ready to go find her. He, again, can't get her off his mind and he is now worried about the baby was well. So he calls friend to come help him find her. They never exchange much information past first name so he needs help find her. Luckily, or unluckily, she comes back panicking. She doesn’t have many choices. She was sheltered and expected to marry. She never got skill past high school and little work experience. She doesn't know what she is going to do to support multiple babies. She panics and goes back to hero.

This time the guy is smart to keep his fears to himself. He doesn't mention he doesn't feel he is ready to be a father or settle down. He decides to help her but with the thought he will set her up and financially provide for her once babies come. Again, not thinking long term here but at least he is growing and accepting his responsibilities. I do agree he does try. He may not jump for joy and he realizes he messed up with the misunderstanding on the abortion, but he also respects her wish to keep babies and her dreams of always wanting to be a mother.

So they settle into domestic bliss. Heroine is so naive. She thinks they are in love and he is going to marry her. She doesn't say it at first, but it comes out later. Hero is thinking this is temporary and he is working to keep her happy. But he is loving it, even thought he doesn't fully realize it. He does little things that show me he cares more than he realizes. He is quick to fix mistakes he makes in what he says, he tells his friends to scale down on their rough talk around her, he doesn't judge her or make her feel bad about wanting to be a mother, he keeps her safe in his home, he doesn't put her down (unless he feels very cornered when she pressures him to commit or say I love you), he does support her as much as he is able (he keeps growing as person), he never steps out on her (even thought he had opportunities when he was being the wingman to his funny buddy), he builds her a crib for the baby (he will need more as we soon realize), he can't stop thinking about her, he sleeps with her and sleeps with her good, he can't stop touching her, finds her very attractive and can't stop thinking about her, and as soon as she leaves he keeps berating himself for being the @ss he is.

So things come to head in this exciting climax scene. Felt sad for the heroine that her family turns their back on her. However, like all the other times she flees hero is right there when she needs him. Those times apart help him grow little each time. Finally, I mean finally, he steps up and becomes man heroine needed. Sure it took whole book but I loved how he progressed and he was loyal. I can forgive many things because of his actions and the fact he was there for her. Neither one expected what happened, but I like how hero changes enough (and I mean enough) to be the husband and father those kids will need.

I would recommend this bad boy book. I will not say he is total reformed, but I will give points for him being loyal and learns each time from the mistakes he makes in handling the heroine. I also understood where heroine comes from. She may have given into the attraction to hero, but she was naive (never even had orgasm) and had these big dreams that come from her strong Christian values. She may have been corrupted by hero but she was on board with it. The way this hero was, if things hadn't happened the way they did I could see him maybe walking away to later regret it or taking way longer to get to the point we did. Just loved how heroine kept coming back. She did right by coming back. He was part of the issue so he needed to face this with her.

Love it and would recommend this. Safe read. Hero was loyal. He was @ss at times, and definably man-whore, but heroine met him at good time when he was trying to mend his ways. Heroine is naive but hero does well by her. I will not call it a light read since some may get upset with hero or heroine, I didn't. Thought they complimented each other. She loosens up and he mellows down. They balanced each other. There are no OW or OM. Explicit love scenes. Rate this book steamy. We get nice epilogue at the end to wrap it all up.

    Yes…it is definitely peal-clutching worthy!
Jax and Harper meet after she gets lost in the mountains trying to find her uncle’s cabin after her fiancée broke off the engagement right before the wedding. Jax left the city to live out in the country on his own and is overwhelmed by Harper - she’s not like any other woman he’s been with. Innocent but strong.

After a crazy (and super spicy) 24 hours, Harper returns to her overly-zealous family as she doesn’t have anywhere else to go since she’s been raised in an extremely religious household that doesn’t allow her much freedom.

The rest of the story (without spoilers) is actually quite good. Jax and Harper had to tackle really tough questions and unlike some books that gloss over things, here the characters actually had to work through it.

The title of “Timber: The Mountain Man’s Babies” could be replaced with “Timber: My Wood!”

Jaxon was a wild one, who got in trouble for sleeping with the Sheriff’s daughter, as the Sheriff was out for blood, Jaxon’s business with his best friend was being affected and he chose to become a silent partner and move out to the more rural part of the state, up in the mountains.

Harper has lead a sheltered life, growing up with overly religious parents and as the eldest daughter was tasked with many chores and caring for her eight younger siblings. Harper’s life revolved around church, bible studies group, family and volunteering at the local food bank. As the daughter of a preacher, she had to live her life as an example to others especially her siblings.

Harper meets Jaxon as she was going to her Uncle’s cabin in the woods to take some time alone to mend her broken heart, as her fiancé Luke had called off the relationship one week before the wedding because God told him to.

What unfolds is a story about finding yourself, your inner strength, trusting yourself, being open to learning and trying new experiences and really just living, letting go and loving... I think the author was trying to write.

The story was filled with sex, a lot of it, A Lot Of It! Sex was used as a distraction for important issues, and or just because... they went at it like rabbits. The term “My Wood” and “Trunk” sure was used a lot to describe Jaxon’s ... As for Jaxon under all of his... personality, he has a big heart and when he loves, he is all in. Wood was so loved in this story that both Harper and Jaxon named their triplets after trees. I guess it was their ode to the mountain they lived on or wood.
