    Twenty-Four Hours was recommended to me by a friend who claimed I HAD to read this book.
    I’m a busy woman with not a lot of time to read, so if I commit to a book it better hold my
    interest or it’s not worth my time. I will stop reading. From page one, I was intrigued, because I
    wasn’t sure what was happening. I was immediately thrown into the action and I quickly found I
    couldn’t put it down. I can’t lie—there were times it was so emotionally heart-wrenching I had to
    take a break, but I kept coming back, because I needed to know what would happen next. I
    became emotionally invested in each of these characters, because they came across as human,
    flawed, and I’m a person who likes something real I can believe—people who make mistakes
    and battle to right their wrongs I can get behind. There is something in this book that anyone
    who has lived life can relate to in some way. Maybe not what’s happening on the page, but
    something in life that’s been experienced. I went from thinking Jake was somewhat of an
    arrogant and dominant (in a bad way) man, to one fighting his own demons who deserved a
    chance at true happiness. As far as Eve goes, her character started out a bit weak for me, but as
    the story unfolded, I got so caught up in her history, her heart-breaking journey, I found myself
    routing for her, and was relieved when she got to place I wanted to see her get to. There was a
    depth to these characters that slowly revealed itself the deeper into the book I got. Jake grew into
    the man worthy of her and she discovered her own self-awareness, which allowed her to make an
    informed decision based on what SHE wanted by the end of the book. I ran the gamut of
    emotions with Jake and Eve: anger, frustration, sympathy, heart-break, pride and finally a well-
    earned satisfaction, but that’s all I’m giving here—I don’t want to spoil this beautiful emotional
    experience for new readers. WARNING: if you don’t like a dark, sexual, and emotive story line
    with an over-confident, Alpha hero and a heroine who develops throughout the book, Twenty-
    Four Hours is probably not a book you’ll enjoy. I will say this, Ms. Anthony knows how to shred
    your heart, piece it back together, and turn you on all at the same time. Since she didn’t let me
    down with this first book and delivered “the goods”, she has gained a new reader and I anxiously
    await her next book.

    Not even sure where to start. There is so much feeling! I think the key, at least for me, is that life messed with them. They both made mistakes in the past and even present, and who hasn't? But despite it all they find their way back to each other because in the end they do love each other. It was just Eve who needed to be on her own to see who she really was and what she really wanted and Jake had to take care of his daughter to make sure she was okay. He's alpha and arrogant, but in the end, there's nothing he wouldn't do for Eve. I think Eve shows a lot of growth, she's shy and introverted, nervous at times, but she has this amazing heart. It's been shattered and she's put aside her wants and needs, but she becomes so strong through all the trials and heart break.

    This book wont be for everybody as you will need to know the feeling of a love lost to really get into the emotional aspect of this book. That said, I really liked it. I enjoyed the start but began falling in love with it more at the 50% mark when Eve and Jake's story started to unfold.

    I read the 2nd book (PHOENIX) before this one and that might have spoilt it a bit for me, in the sense that Phoenix was just absolutely brilliant. (Bare in mind, Phoenix is a completely different couple and this book can be read as a standalone). I highly recommend reading this book and then continuing on to Phoenix.

    Jake is Eve's first love, and although being married after he no longer was part of her life, she admits that Jakes was her only true love - someone she never completely got over. Jake felt Eve was too young for him when they met, and eventually moved on to another woman and had children.

    Eve never quite accepted the loss of Jake and has the scars to prove it. They meet up years later after both getting a divorce but circumstances are yet again against them and the timing once again not right. Will they ever get more than a couple of hours, are they destined to live without each other?

    Well written, very steamy with hints of BDSM (not quite BDSM though), a great second chances read.

    This is an incredibly erotic and deeply emotional book. I loved it because I couldn't put it down, but it's only three stars for me because I don't think books with damaged heroines are really my cup of tea. Despite that, this book stands out to me, because there is meat to Eve's story that really made me ache for her, whereas so many authors who write romances with damaged heroines give us characters with no depth who somehow can't be whole without the hero. Eve is very much not that kind of character, which is evident through her struggle and growth in the first part of the book (you have to read it to get it, I won't spoil...)

    If you love these kinds of complexities in characters, this is definitely worth a read, but be prepared for an emotional ride! The ending was the best part, and worth the roller coaster to get there.
