Editorial Reviews

Review

  • Travis Casey writes in such a way that through every one of Tyler's shenanigans, I'd get nervous and sit on the edge of my seat. ~ Goodreads Reviewer 5*
  • The main character Tyler was young, immature but mature at the same time so he was very different to the alpha males you normally find. ~ Goodreads Reviewer 4*
  • I have to say, this wasn't my kind of book. Although it was very funny at times (especially Billy Earl's character) and romantic, the best thing about this book was also the thing that made it difficult for me to find myself hooked by the story. [sic] It was written with a male thought pattern. ~ Sofia's Reviews Books 3*
  • It was refreshing to read a kind of story through a male's writing. "Forbidden Trouble" has it all and then some. ~ Goodreads Reviewer 5*
  • Forbidden Trouble is a fascinatingly well written novel that is impossible to put down. ~ Goodreads Reviewer 5*
  • Forbidden Trouble is a book filled with humor, misunderstandings, some bad luck, along with a great amount of romance. ~ Crossroad Reader Review 4*
  • The dialog was witty and hilarious, the characters fascinating and funny. ~ Goodreads Reviewer 5*
  • What can I say about Tyler? He lacked a filter and would say the worst things to people at the most improper times. He had me laughing throughout the whole story. ~ Goodreads Reviewer 4*
  • Though I'm not a fan of romantic novels, this particular book was action packed and took many unsuspecting twists and turns. ~ Goodreads Reviewer 5*
  • In this brilliant story, Travis Casey has not only given us love and romance from a male viewpoint, but he has given us a peek into how a man really thinks, feels, and acts. ~ Goodreads Reviewer 4*

From the Author

This book is about Tyler Chambers. Tyler is an ordinary sailor with fears and flaws.
He's not a Navy SEAL nor is he a wartime hero. If you want a fire-breathing alpha
male, may I suggest looking in the next aisle over? You know, where the bodice-ripping
stud sports his six-pack abdomen on the cover and the guy has absolutely no
fear of anything. Oh, Tyler has an alpha mentality but somewhat of a Charlie
execution. But he's our hero.
How's flirting with a dishonorable discharge for a fun frolic with a hot Navy officer for high stakes? This a true romance, but in his usual manner, Tyler complicates things as his knack for finding trouble follows him everywhere he goes.
If you want to see love trying to blossom while scratching your head at the same time
asking yourself "Why does he do that?" this is the book for you. And look out for Billy
Earl--our bumpkin friend from Kentucky. He's up for an Oscar for best-supporting
chucklehead.

This being the third and final of the series, I was hesitant to begin. I hate reading the last of a series that I truly enjoy. Personally, I am seldom satisfied with an ending, once I have become so intimately enmeshed into the life of those I am reading about. With that said, it came to the point where I could no longer hold off on reading Forbidden Trouble. I dug into it with the energy of one who had been on a diet for six months...and it was delicious! As with any great series, I ended each of the previous books thinking that here was no way the next one would be as good. Although I do not care to be wrong...I was. I loved, loved, loved Forbidden Trouble! As much as I enjoyed the younger, not so cautious Tyler, it was pleasing to see how he had matured. While still a, shall we say, "fan of the ladies" Tyler was able to show more restraint and foresight in his decisions yet still, in typical Tyler manner, was able to get himself into a number of precarious, I-can't-stop-reading-this-even-though-I-have-to-get-up-really-early-tomorrow situations. I cannot help but fall a little more deeply in love with Tyler even though he makes some of his most knuckle-headed moves ever! He is like a naughty puppy that destroys everything, but you still can't help but want to rub his ears and snuggle up with him at night. Without giving away the ending, I will say that it was so perfect. I feel like there could have been no better ending for Tyler and Darcy. Although I still yearn for more...I can move on for now. Am truly looking forward to whatever Travis Casey will offer up next- I have no doubt that it will be equally humorous, hot, and highly entertaining!

What makes a man fall completely head over heels in love? Well, we get to see why in this amazing book told in a male's POV. This book was beautifully written with a strong voice, a great blend of love and drama. The dialog was witty and hilarious, the characters fascinating and funny.

Tyler is moved from Hawaii to Scotland and is furious. But he tries to adjust as best as he can. He's more mature but he still gets himself in some sticky situations. Tyler can't resist temptation. As much as he tries to fight it, he can't resist his gorgeous boss and Naval officer. It's really powerful and strong women that Tyler loves, especially if their drop dead gorgeous. Tyler does love the ladies but there's something really special about Darcy Novak. When the star-crossed lovers meet, forbidden love eventually ensues. There is also Charlotte Kemp who adds a nice twist to the story.

The components of the story--the pacing, and the drama and humor along with lots of hot passion--are gracefully assembled, successfully building drama and pushing the story while adding complexity to the characters. One thing I loved about this book was how the characters and their stories stayed with me long after I've read the last page. To me, that's the sign of an awesome book.

Tyler is so witty and funny in his everyday life and I couldn't get enough of the humor in this book. My favorite parts were the romance, passion, and humor. I give this book 5 stars without a doubt and would definitely read more from this talented author. I really liked Tyler's character and playboy approach to women. But he meets his match when he meets a woman that is like no other he has ever met.

Forbidden Trouble is a romance told from a male point of view. I was curious to see how the male perspective would be handled in a romance. Casey’s prose is competent and sometimes mildly humorous, but there were shortcomings in the plot and characterization. Amusing at first, I quickly tired of the protagonist, Tyler Chambers, going through the world in a testosterone-induced lust haze for anything “female.” Things picked up in the second half, mainly because Tyler fell in love with his superior officer, Darcy Novak. That propelled him into a series of screw ups that led to various types of self-induced trouble. The final chapters were especially problematic for me when Tyler goes to meet Darcy’s family in Kentucky. Her father and mother and the life they lead made me want to run the other way as fast as possible. I also was not a fan of some the stereotyping of certain characters. This is an okay read, not great, but not terrible either.

Just as witty and fun as the second novel, I was so happy to see that it was a continuation of the same fun hijinks rather than a series that is written only to draw out the inevitable and make more money. As always, the protagonist is somehow able to pull off all kinds of ridiculous schemes and escape, undeterred. It’s a nice read to get your mind off the real world craziness.

I read this book as an experiment because normally romantic fiction is not my preferred genre. I believe the book ‘Forbidden Trouble’ fits better within the erotica genre than it does in romance. There are plenty of explicit sex scenes in the book, written very well in my opinion. This is written from the male point of view. Although I found it difficult to relate to the main character at first, by one-third in I discovered he was human and had some endearing qualities after all. Possibly me experience was related to the fact this is the third novel in the series and I hadn't read the other two.

The author employs considerable skill in drawing out the humour; Tyler gets into trouble, makes it worse and extricates himself quite cleverly or accidentally.

I would like to have read more prose, more descriptive narrative, then the author puts into his book because I believe he is more than capable of producing it. His dialogue is excellent and funny.

Really enjoyed the last book but the sex scenes were cringe! Clearly written by a man, I'd to stop reading them by the end. The happy ending was fab.
