Understand K-pop: Deconstructing the Obsession and Toxicity in K-pop Stan Culture (For Kpoppers; By Kpopper Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.9 out of 5 stars 13 ratings

What’s in this blogbook?
1. Exploration of all kinds of K-pop fans.
2. Analysis of K-pop Stan culture vis-a-vis Korean Idol industries' marketing strategies.

Who can read it?
1. People who have stumbled upon K-pop and are completely lost right now.
2. Those who are veterans of the mess that’s K-pop Stan’s life and want to take a step back to critically look at the dynamics of K-pop fandoms. You can expect recurrent bouts of introspection and 20/20 hindsight.
3. All the lucky human beings who haven’t been infected by K-pop madness, yet. You have heard about it and are now curious. Come, my dear friends! Take this either as a warning or a road map to becoming one of us.
*Crazy chants in the distance*
“One of us!”
“One of us!”
“One of us!”

Why did you write this book?
Though K-pop has spread globally, a lot of discourse on it in the English language is dominated by American media. Hence, I wanted to add the South Asian perspective on this music phenomenon that I have become obsessed with.

About the Author Regular Ver.

Arushi Raj is an author, editor, educator, and linguaphile. She has published novels, short stories, nonfiction books, and poetry collections. She specializes in Pop Culture and Media Studies, in which she has presented papers at various national and international conferences.

She has a postgraduate degree in English Literature, a Diploma in Creative Writing, and certification in Editing and Publishing. She lives in Mumbai with her family and incessant rain.

About the Author Irregular Ver.

Arushi Raj is a full-time couch potato and a part-time writer. She has two eyes, two ears, one nose, and – what she has been told – one mouth. Do not misunderstand, she is not under the assumption that she has multiple mouths. But there is something about the mouth that doesn't feel singular to her. There is so much plurality in it – teeth, lips – that it doesn't make sense to her that the mouth is singular. But alas, after three decades on this planet, she has come to accept all of its irregularities, in language and being.

There is not much to say about her except she likes to read, listen to music, and is obsessed with languages. She speaks English, Hindi, Japanese, French, and Korean with varying degrees of fluency. Of course, her one true love is writing and she hopes that her books can touch and inspire at least one person on this overpopulated planet.

Lastly, if you have read her books and want to share your thoughts, do leave a review. She is always working towards improving her craft. So, she would really appreciate some feedback.

That’s all folks,

Bye-Bye

PS: All profits from the sale of her books will go to a cause that is very near and dear to her heart, that is, to keep a roof over her head and food in her tummy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Short cut to understand K Pop

Arushi Raj has sounded like a professional scholar in her maiden publication. I complement her for in depth knowledge of the subject, unveiling the mysteries threadbare and presenting them to the readers on a platter, in a simple manner, devoid of complex jargon and flowery English. Reading the book transports one to the sub real world of K Pop. She has whole heartedly dwelled into the world of fans, categorising them in a simple and logical manner, giving a peek into their emotions and activities. The book is a must read for all those young enthusiasts who have been bitten by the K Pop bug and also the peeved off elders or parents who understand neither Korean nor the Pop nor the fan culture.

Though i am new tovthe topic but we all are living and watching it. Bollywood industry and vits fame is merely at the hands of its fans as we can see currently the plight of few lobbies . Author at such a tender age with just a single publish in hand seems to be a polished experienced writer she has researched the on the topic to the depth and is so clear about it .Language she has used is very simple and easily understood
i would highly recommend this book to the teens who are die hard fans of their idols and to the paparazzi as well
