    I do like a good paranormal story that centers around magic and this story really delivered. From the very beginning it sucks you in with it’s action and intrigue, even though is a sad time in the life of one of our MC’s, Seth Tanner. The opening scene was the tool that drove the rest of the story it gave me an insight into the man Seth is now, it led to the believably of the storyline. This story was also fresh and original , It did have the feel of Supernatural but the author gave it her original spin on it.

    Seth is a supernatural tracker, his drive is looking for the unimaginable that took the life of his brother 10 years ago. The story is very intriguing and the author dragged me right in (willingly of course). The story moved quickly it has a great mixture of intrigue, mystery and of course the budding romance between the main characters, Seth and Evan. The sex scenes are really well written and each scene is different from the other so there isn’t that “oh this again” while I was reading, they were also easily visualized.

    The relationship with Seth and Evan was intense from a reader angle. There were times I was cheering on Seth and other times it was Evan. You could say that they didn’t always see eye to eye and they liked to butt heads, so not only was the mystery part of the book captivating the relationship was also.

    The ending is a little open ended, there could definitely be a sequel that comes from it, but it also tidies everything up enough that I felt fulfilled when finished and didn’t have that feeling that I am missing something or the author held something back.

    Witchbane is the first book in a series of 6 volumes of urban fantasy or paranormal suspense so far. They are also male/male gay romance stories, and really must be called erotica. The context of these stories is an obvious play on the Supernatural TV series only in this universe, the two heroes are not brothers. They are a couple. I have only read the first book so far. I like it and am glad I own the rest. Morgan Brice is the author’s pen name. She is a woman married to a man. Most gay male erotica is written and read by women, so this is no surprise. While women are obviously more than capable of writing male characters realistically, I find that it is impossible for a straight woman to entirely understand what it is to be a gay man. However, stories like these are intended to reflect the fun and recognized unique traits of gay subculture and make people horny. They accomplish this with aplomb. I think the author could dial back the frequency and extreme contexts of the erections just a bit. Most men’s bodies (and minds) don’t work like that, but this is after all fantasy. Approach this book with the supernatural and gay male sex in mind, and you will be pleased.

    Seth and Jesse go on an adventure to find a monster. Instead the monster finds them and Jesse is killed in a ritualistic manner. Leaving Seth to figure out what happened to his brother. He lost his parents in a car accident and his home burned down within a few weeks of losing Jesse. Two years later he is a hunter, searching for a way to stop a vengeful warlock from killing more innocent people. His guilt eating at him, ruling his life.     I've always been a fan of supernatural stories and this one didn't disappoint. I have to admit that being a little familiar with the hunting aspect (thanks to a certain popular television series) and the rituals, added to the enjoyment of this book. If you like your otherworldly stories with a bit of sexy times, you will enjoy this one.

    Morgan Brice pulls you into this book in the first paragraph, the characters are real to you within a few pages. Seth and Jesse are the brothers you always wished you had, roughhousing one minute, strong and protective the next. The story and the romance wrapped around me and I could barely put the book down to sleep. I read the whole thing in 3 days!

    Seth is on the hunt for a group of immortal warlocks, who murdered his brother. He never imagined meeting his soulmate, the warlocks' next victim. Seth has less than a week to find and destroy the killers, or his new love will die on Halloween night. Sounds easy for a vet with battle experience, but a hundred or more years of life have taught the warlock he's hunting how to hide, and how to kill with impunity. And time is running out.

    This was a book that started with a great idea and quite good. Unfortunately for me it went downhill from there. I assume if you are not reading as much books as I do, it probably won't be that repetetive as it was for me but I need to explain that:
    The sex - this book has many sex scenes. If you are in it for them and you haven't read that much sex before, it might hold your interest. After over 1500 books in that genre - sex scenes are only interesting if they are special, have a good vibe and attribute to the story line, are neccessary for the character development. This was not so much the case. There was plenty of sex, sometimes even when it would have been the last thing on my mind...but, well, to say something positive, it was okay written sex. But I really started skipping ...
    Then - there is Evan. I liked him in the beginning but he didn't develop into a stronger character throughout the book, quite the opposite, I wanted to hit him for being to stupid to live sometimes. Without doing spoilers it's hard to explain but there are situations in the book when you just wonder how blind he can be.
    And the book has a MAJOR plothole - again, I would spoiler explaining it more clearly but lets just say "You have an ability to do something very useful and in the most critical situations - we are talking life and death - you don't use that ability but rely on guesswork." How stupid is that?
    This major mistake was so annoying, I still wonder if anybody has even read the book before it was published. If so - the betas weren't worth their money.

    The only reason I still give it 2 stars is that it really started good and I finished it (admittetly with skipping a lot of the sex).

    For over a hundred years ago, a dark warlock was killed by a posse of deputies. In revenge, every twelve years each of the warlock’s witch-disciples systematically kill one of the descendants of the deputies to enhance their powers and prolong their lives. Seth Tanner lost his younger brother to one of the witches a few years ago and now spends his life tracking them down. Seth doesn’t expect to fall for one of the witches’ targets, Jackson ‘Sonny’ Malone. Sonny doesn’t know what to make of Seth or his stories about the supernatural, but he feels the mutual attraction. There was a lot to love about this … great premise and world building, satisfyingly creepy and gory, and an absorbing, suspenseful chase story. I didn’t enjoy the instalove (but I generally don’t), so I found the relationship less convincing. Audio narrator Kale Williams knocked it out of the park, great stuff! (currently free on the Audible Plus catalogue)
