Chasing Pebbles (Without Filter Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 205 ratings

Oliver might only get one summer, but he’s determined to make it memorable.

Frida left her hometown a year ago. When she suddenly finds herself without a place to stay for the summer, she is forced to go back. A stubborn, foolish part of her wants to show them that she can’t be broken. She’ll hold on to her anger, push the nostalgia away even if the scent of seawater and beach-roses is making it difficult.

Ever since Frida left, Oliver’s life has been a little lonelier and a little greyer, despite him staying busy to distract himself. When he realises that Frida, his favourite human, the one person who was always up for his shenanigans is coming home, he knows he has to make it right.
She’s hurting, and so much is left unsaid.

Frida is afraid to trust. Oliver can’t let go of his guilt.
Neither of them is prepared for how everything can feel the same and yet so, so different.

Chasing Pebbles takes place in Denmark; it’s a new adult, slow burn, friends to lovers romance with a nerdy, talkative hero and a stubborn, compassionate heroine.
Chasing Pebbles is book one in The Without Filter Series and it can be read as a standalone.

This book is not for readers under 18 due to adult language and situations.

"Chasing Pebbles is a one of a kind romance with characters so genuine and beautifully flawed, they'll have you rooting for them from page one." Sabina Lungeanu, author of Hiraeth ★★★★★

"This was such an amazing read! The characters felt so incredibly real and human you'd almost expect to bump into them while going to Copenhagen!I laughed and cried alongside Frida and enjoyed how the story progressed! This book is a perfect summer read, or the perfect read for when you long for summer♡" - Nini, ARC reader ★★★★★

"Chasing Pebbles has this wonderful message of being who YOU are, not what others expect you to be. I thought it was just an absolutely lovely thing to weave into this beautiful story." BreeAnn, ARC reader ★★★★★

"Set in Denmark, this is a heartwarming story of two friends reconnecting and putting things right in their lives. I love the best friends to lovers trope and this book really hit the spot. Both main characters were extremely likeable especially Oliver who was described as a typical guy with flaws and not all round perfect. Oliver's family were also great fun support characters." - Farah, ARC reader ★★★★★

Satisfying New Adult Romance

Satisfying New Adult Romance
Chasing Pebbles is a sweet new adult contemporary romance book by Felicia Blaedel - a fellow indie author writing from Denmark. Frida and Oliver are best friends who have a painful wall built between them. Can they overcome this obstacle and see the beauty of the love each of them has for one another?   I really enjoyed this story. Olli is absolutely adorable and Frida is fierce. While there are some first novel issues most indie authors face (ask me, I know all about them 🤦🏻‍♀️ Ugh), ultimately the story and this author is one you are going to want to keep an eye on. A read worth your time for sure.

Frida’s returning to her hometown — the town she left a year back in heartache and embarrassment. The only thing that makes her return bearable is Oliver, her childhood friend, though even his past behavior has her agonizing over their reunion.
Olli’s astonished — and nervous — when Frida calls to tell him she’s coming back for the summer. He’s been floundering since her departure, though he’s hesitant to admit to himself why. He knows he’ll only get one chance to right the wrongs he’s been shouldering since she left.
One summer. To remember. To learn. To try to fix things neither knows how to approach. To explore. And to discover that sometimes, perfectly imperfect is the most perfect thing there is.

Confession: I read this book in one sitting.
Blaedel’s new adult novel is gorgeous and heart-wrenching and hopeful, and I cried and laughed and cheered, and I already want to read it again to appreciate its delightfully quirky, wonderfully flawed characters and the author’s lovely prose. Blaedel’s ability to put the reader front and center in the minds of both Frida and Olli made this a compelling read that tugged at my heartstrings so many times I lost count. Frida and Oliver have earned their place in my list of favorite literary couple. Frida’s struggles hit home for me, in many ways, and her journey to becoming stronger and self-assured had me cheering and tearing up simultaneously — I adored her. But honestly, Olli stole my heart, and I know I’ll fall for him every time I re-read this beautiful story. He’s so genuinely adorable, and the glimpses into his relationships with his family and friends enhanced his charm tenfold.

Bottom line: absolutely recommend for fans of friends-to-lovers romance with a lot of heart and a side of steamy scenes. The perfect summertime read, or truthfully, anytime read when you’re in the mood for a story that’ll restore your faith in the imperfect perfection of love.

Every want to bash two people's heads into each? Well Ollie and Frida will make you want to. These two were written into the stars but both was to afraid to tell the other. What turns from best friends to friends with benefits (because they both say the wrong things to eachother) turns into a love that shouldve happened a long time ago.
With a HEA you just knew was coming as soon as they got their heads right, this story was a slow bidding romance.
I recieved an ARC in exchange for a honest review

A sweet story that quickly drew me in and made me care about the characters, this is the perfect book to curl up with at the beach or by the fire on a rainy day.

Unexpectedly without a place to live for the summer before university, Frida reluctantly returns to her seaside hometown, a place she'd never intended to visit again after a betrayal that broke her heart. Oliver is overjoyed to have her back - his childhood best friend and the one person who could always make him smile - but he has heartaches of his own that she doesn't know about. The narrative switches between their perspectives, carrying us through the summer as they each face their past and the future, and learn what it means to be loved.

Blaedel is a first-time author, and I never would have guessed it from this book. The characters are real and complex, and the story never drags or feels unbelievable. There were even a few points when I had to put the book down and just process the stories and emotions before moving on because Frida and Oliver felt so real to me. It's a contemporary romance set in Denmark, and I could see the places and people without any effort. Even the secondary characters felt like fully fleshed-out people with whole histories behind them, and I'm already excited to read her next book, knowing that it's about some of them.

Possible trigger warning: There are a couple of adult scenes. While they always seemed to be there to drive the character development and I did not find them to be overly explicit, you might be a bit uncomfortable at one or two points if you prefer stories with no "adult" scenes at all.

Overall, I loved this book, loved getting to know these characters, and look forward to reading more of Felicia's books!

All I can say is if you are looking for a romantic summer read, this is it. @feliciablaedel weaves a beautiful story about two young adults, estranged friends, on the cusp of launching into their next stage of life, who find themselves getting a second chance to repair their damaged friendship, and perhaps make it more.

One last summer together, one last chance to make things right, and one last chance to tell each other how they really feel. This book has beautiful twists and turns, unexpected past truma (emotional), and a cast of characters that I flet became my friends.

This book was written with so much heart, and I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.

Chasing Pebbles has an idyllic feeling to it while keeping incredibly real characters. Both lovable and flawed, that soon after the first pages feel like your friends. I have read Chasing Pebbles at every chance I got, either at home or in the train, and I can say it is a definite page turner.
I especially liked the full characters of not only our two main heroes, but also their friends and family, and everyone else you meet along the journey. Watching them develop and hearing their thoughts is both funny, exciting and sometimes heartbreaking.
As an international who has lived in Copenhagen for most of her young adult life, Chasing Pebbles had captured perfectly the distinct feeling of living in Denmark and way of life: the proximity to the sea, carrying a bicycle everywhere and baking homemade goods will leave you longing for Frida's and Oliver's hometown.
This book reads like a feel-good movie, with witty dialogue and heartfelt moments. Highly recommended to anyone who loves scones, pebbles, Penny Reid series, Gilmore girls and sunshine.

Chasing pebbles is a sweet romance in a small danish town with the trope of friends-to-lovers romance.

Frida and Oliver are childhood friends, they were always together until in high school Frida started dating Oliver's best friend, and soon after gossip and drama happened and they grow apart. Now a year later, it’s summer and Frida is coming home.

I loved Frida and Oliver, together or apart, they are so relatable, they are nerds, sweet, kind of quirky and goofy characters.

It's a heartwarming and emotional story, they have so much history together. In the last year, they have been separated but their connection is still there, Their relationship feels so pure, real, and genuine, nothing toxic or big dramatic.

But It's not only a love story family is important too. Oliver’s family was so cute and I'm so happy to read the stories about the sisters, I have good feelings about them.

This is the perfect summer read, I love the setting, and to know a little more about Denmark, the landscape descriptions were lovely.

    Read it if you like:
Sweet romance and Friends to lovers trope
Slow burn and also a little steamy
    Relatable characters

I'll be honest and say that I don't usually gravitate toward the friends-to-lovers trope . . . but author Felicia Blaedel really won me over with Chasing Pebbles! Frida made for a great heroine. I identified with her on so many levels, both in relation to her very real and genuine problems with her self confidence and in relation to her family. And Oliver? He and his sensitive soul have made it on to my book boyfriend list! I'm so happy to be a part of this world the author has created. And book 2 is Nessa and Zander?! My mind is blown, lol. I'm so excited

I really liked this book and how well Denmark is described. The love story is so sweet, romantic and hot! The love scenes are described very well. I always wanted to know more about Denmark and life in Denmark and I think the book definitely fits my interest. While reading I could really picture the little town and the areas described and it helped me to escape to another world, which not a lot of books have done that for me. So,I definitely recommend it!

What an amazing debut novel. A beautiful and moving coming of age second chance romance. I loved reading this, the attention to details and the complex friendships and back stories kept me turning the page. Frida and Oliver are perfect for each other and don’t even realise it. They each have issues with their relationship models and have to figure out a way that works for them, at least they know what they don’t want.
I loved reading about their growing feelings and how they worked through them.

Simply a beautiful read and I hope there’s many more to come.
